  • Nice...

  • You are one of the best....

  • great job Ladessa!!!!

  • Phenomenal - I can see why it was featured. Your talent is amazing!

  • You are so brilliant good work. love you

  • This piece of work, time lasped, with the music, is probably the most artistic thing I have ever seen........seriously, good work homey......

  • This is fantastic

  • This is great!!!...curious was this all done in one day?

  • Thank you! This one isn't very big, so it was done in a matter of 8 hours total. This is including the time it took to stop and upload the video footage, and the working time of the previous day when the dark gray background was done prior, so that it could dry and be easy to paint over with the Oil Paint.

  • Excluding the video footage time, and the background done the day prior, the ACTUAL painting probably took about 2 hours (give or take 20 minutes). The Time Lapse setting is [every 2 hours = 5 minutes] prior to any video editing. I simply sit down and paint. No pre-sketching or contemplating for this one, or most of my work... however this is not fixed in stone. If I ever contemplate or pre-sketch I'll add that to my notes.

  • This is beautiful Ladessa. 5 stars.

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL

  • i love the colors and designs. thats the kind of art i love to focus on. ill subscribe =)

  • very nice work

  • Thank you much for watching and commenting.

  • very nice! I liked how you built it up. The composition and colour choices were perfect against the black background. I like the fact that you work free form as well and add to it as needed.....great stuff!

    raeart

  • Exactly. Thank you for coming thru. I really like using dark backgrounds even though it's more difficult with oil paint like this. I had to wait for the background to dry because I layer a lot instead of painting the background aroound the figure(s). I was saying in the more info section, that this style is easier done with acrylic, but I'm a oil junky. lol.

  • I'm sure you already know, but acrylics can be used to prime canvases and do tonal underpainting. You actually could have used acrylics to do the dark background to cut down on dry time. Great video and painting :)

  • just had to twitter your videos. awesome

  • THANK YOU! That kind of support is always much needed, and I really appreciate that a lot. Please keep in touch... subscribe, because there's more to come.

  • you're so welcome. we also posted on on a few networks. love watching the work.

  • If you can, message me the links, I'd love to see. Thank you so much. That really helps. It's hard out here for an artist. Youtube doesn't even have a category for us yet!

  • Wow, this came together in an amazing way! Exquisite indeed.

  • Wow, I love this type of work, this is what we are doing in school for our project, this has inspired me!, thank you soo much, I was struggling for help in my project and your amazing art, Well Done, and Thank you

    :)

  • Awwe, that's wonderful. I wish you well in your artistic journey. I hope you subscribe because there's more coming soon.

  • Your work is amazing.

  • Thank you so much DUHH00

  • She's wondering if he may be the one, and he is afraid she isn't, and it's all because of his past. When a man, or anyone cries, and it's this serious, people can push others away, blocking blessings. And the one trying to get in the heart of the one that cries, will have a very hard time in his/her efforts. This is Sunshine's interpretation:-) Beautiful work.

  • He's crying from his right eye, while his left eye is all warped, suggesting that...maybe...he's seeing something that's not there, or maybe looking too hard to find something, or not deeply enough...yeah. Maybe that's why he's crying. Frustrated and weary from things he thought were actual, but aren't. Something to do with a woman and that's why he's pushing this one away. Baggage?

  • I see the tree branches there. Love that. Trees with no leaves...hmmm....and there is one there at the woman's mouth too with the arrow. Are the trees representing some sort of knowledge? Oh, or the lack thereof?? Lack of communication...this woman is trying something with this man and he's not letting her.

I see a few faces in this one face that truly represents the title...hmmmm....I see other telling things, too but I've said a lot already...lol.

  • It's Sunshine here :-)I love the dark background which brings out the colors. I see the number sign there in the heart. To me, it signifies the number of times you've had to deal with heartbreak or disappointments. It's kind of like a bruise to me. I see the question marks there, representing whether or not love is real, will come, does the person love me, etc. Noting the woman in the distance there. So far in the distance like she's being pushed away by the man.

  • When you were doing the forehead, it almost looked like a leafless tree. It became something more like a scar and/or some engorged blood vessels. An example of the organic approach you take to your work, I think. It almost looks like he's having a nervous breakdown. He's trying to keep it together. Maybe he has to keep it together. You can clearly see the concern on the face of the person closest to him.

  • Wow Ladessa! Such a dynamic painting. Your spirit really shows through your work. :)

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hugs & Blessings!!!

  • beautiful response. wow... thank you a lot.

  • Do you sell your work?

  • yes indeed. Thank you for your interest. Send me a message for details. Sales are directly through me until my online store is complete. You can view my myspace page for other works. The fine graphic art is all for sale. F.Y.I

  • Think what I like about this is it shows what most know and what most either don't know and sometimes just don't want to admit to, in that a man has the ability to be very complex even if we say a lot of the times that there issn't much to us. I like how the eyes show a contrast in and atleat to me a conflict in trying not to cry and trying to remain cool especially in the face of the ones standing beside/behind you. This is truly another one of your pieces I feel I can really relate to.

  • I'm really happy that you can relate to this piece, and I appreciate everything your comment added. Really helps and allows me to see how it's perceived and taken in by a man. I think you really get it and that pleases me a lot. As a woman, and artist, when I paint a man it's from my ability to observe, use intuition and empathy, so it's good to know that I'm able to speak with my art for something that isn't my own journey.

  • Besides the obvious incredible masterpieces you make, I must say I'll always be a big fan of your extraordinary work. A genius only comes from a free spirit. The only thing I'd love more is knowing the inner reflection of this piece. ....so call me I miss you.

  • Thanks Goya, I'm not even sure how to respond! You always have something worthwhile to say and I really appreciate the depth of you. I put some info on the right side of the page, not sure if you saw that yet. Miss you too, and I'll call asap. Been busy in my own little bubble, working, and crashing after working. I hope you have been painting as usual.

  • I love this painting. It's very coolsome.

  • lol Thank you! I never heard that word before..."coolsome"! cool!

  • thanks for sending this.

  • I love painting on black surfaces. Seems to make things go a lot faster. Can't wait to watch more of your videos.

  • It's funny you should say that, because this painting took much longer than any of the others I've shown on youtube! lol. go figure! Of course I had to really condense the footage to get it down to this length. If you get a chance read the details to the right. I kind of talk about it there.

  • Wow, I didn't even read the description. It's funny, I thought you had done it in acrylics. But looking at it again I can see some qualities of oil paint in there. I've always had trouble with acrylics. For me it takes me twice as long to paint in acrylics as it does in oil! Thanks for sharing your inspiration for the painting, it was great to read.

  • OOOOO I LOVE this! I love how the crying side of him is red and looks internal cause its how he really feels and the other side is stitched together showing his outer being, who he portrays to the world. I KNOW this man!!!!! LOL This was awesome sis! Ofcourse like all the pieces before and the ones after will be! Your amazing!!!!!

  • Yay! Glad you love it! it was reall cool to read how you perceive this piece. I know you're very familiar with my old sketches and my obsession with drawing eyes in the strangest context! lol. I know you love all my stuff, cause I love yours! xoxo

  • Dope as hell i love the color schemes, how you merge colors that the average person wouldnt even merge together. And the editing and setting along with the music matched the mood of the picture. I see ya using that left hand...verb

    piky

  • Thank Youuuuuu! Coming from you, that means a lot! People tell me that often, regarding my color usage, both in fine graphic art and in traditional art. I love hearing that, because until it was brought to my attention I paid it no mind. Glad you liked the editing, considering my movie program crashed on me numerous times! I'm just glad I was able to complete this video today! lol. That left hand was dedicated to yours. ;)

  • by the way, using my left hand makes for good practice! I'm ambidextrous, and God forbid I lost my right, I'd still be painting. If I lost both a sista would be painting with her feet! Just wedge that brush between my toes! lol. Don't think I haven't already tried it, cause I have! Ha!

  • very cool and exotic ^____^

  • awe, thanks! I like that... "exotic". There is a tribal vibe.

  • I can see i love how u are not afraid to use deep color alot of artist are

  • Thank you so much. I can understand why some artist are "afraid" to; I have some theories of "why" in mind. Perhaps it can be difficult to pull off in some respects, and there could be a fear of it not being as desirable to buyers. (I'm not certain... I'm guessing!) It's very important for me to be free, genuine and or outside the box. The desire for creativity and expression (in all artist including yourself, or even art lovers) is a beautiful thing. BTW, I really appreciate your comments.

  • yeah probably, no problem

  • Ladessa,

    I can hear the tears...

  • mm... indeed. Although it can be felt without sound, I'm almost certain the music choice didn't hurt. Thanks Ty, for watching this immediately and for your response. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to rate! It helps a lot.

  • Actually, it had nothing to do with the music... It was the journey... especially knowing how challenging it is to keep from being soft in the eyes of others... So it was a deep journey inside the spirit of the man...where the 3rd eye heard the cries for freedom from normalcy...

Your work is always top shelf!

    Ty...

  • wow... dito to what you said! I'm humbled.
