  • I was on The Gong Show. Pat Paulsen gonged us saying he hated to do a thing like that but that he thought we were better than having a tooth pulled.

  • Steve Martin was a judge on this dive-hole show??!!

  • was steve martin one of the judges

  • Even with the 70's being a 'wild and free time', Chuck Barris and this show were out there...

  • man we used to rush home from school to see the gong show :D

  • He's probably so high on coke during this performance.

  • im wondering wat old ass commercial came up at the end.

  • The Gong Show was a riot! Loved that show. They should sydicate it.

  • murray langston,bathurst nb canada

  • Hes from Bathurst NB Canada Muarry Laingston!

  • not funny, ass..I can't believe its 343 likes, 343 dickheads. Go watch dave chappelle or somebody else please, watch that then after watch this...ASS

  • I miss the days when people could smoke on stage. Who wants to live forever in a police state?

  • @heyyouthere4

Yep. How 'bout all those self-righteous anti-smoking nazis who get all worked up about disrespect of non-smoking areas, etc, as though their very lives were threatened with the slightest inhale of smoke or show faces of disapproval when they find out you joined the DARK SIDE when they see you smoking for the first time?!

  • @gorillabelly1 What does that have to do with the Unknown Comic?

  • Man, a lot of Canadians are funny. Yes, The Unknown Comic is Canadian, a native of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

  • @bluebear1985 Well they are certainly funnier than mexicans, I laugh at mexicans but not for the same reasons I laugh at Canadians!

  • hey chucky I stopped a rape last nite, really? yeah I got off her!!

  • OH GOD! You gotta car! My stomach hurts.

  • Barris himself always sounded n' acted like he was half in the bag. nyuk nyuk.

  • That guy was funny and original as the unknown comic . Certainly a better comedian than goofy and annoying Chuck Barris! Why did stupid Barris cut him off? They should have cut off Barris from the show instead.

  • @MrRT1966 The running gag is that the Unknown Comic would usually wrap up his act by telling insulting jokes at Chuck Barris's expense and then Barris would pretend to get angry and yanking the stage curtain closed.

Zany time filler when the show runs short.

  • @5191keith For the past 25 years thats how comedy's been.(George Carlin,Richard Pryor, Eddy Murphy) The Unknown Comic is more like 50s and 60s humor

  • sexy<2

  • Those were the days my friends

  • I love unknown

  • Doesnt the unknown comic know that smoking isnt good for his health?

  • Im sure back then it was funny, one liners just dont do it any more. its all about the anecdote.

  • @JFranzicles Find a quarter,go to wal-mart and purchase a sense of humor.

  • @kurtizzyflush humor is completely subjective, nowadays if a comedian went on stage with his material, in most places hed be unpopular, its just a changing of the times.

  • : )

  • Steve Martin likes the Unknown Comic!!!

  • i remember the time he handed out penny candy bags as photographs . and the time he came out with a bottle of liquor in his hand, poured it over his head. "the drinks are on me."

  • Too funny today to see him doing his act with a cigarette in his hand

  • Unknown Comic ruled!

  • FUNNY! Yes.. i laughed! I watched a show where they took off his bag to reveal who he really was.

  • i adore steve martin

  • wow how much comedy has changed in about thirty years.

  • I remember "The Unknown Comic" vividly. discovered who he was (believe it or not) before the rest of the world came to know his real identity ( ! ), as he was on another show during the time he did the "Unknown Comic" act, and i recognized his voice and his gestures. It was a few months after that, that he made himself known to the public. His "shtick" was a great one, I thought. Those were the days !! Thanks for posting this !

  • the man, the legend.

  • This show was THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!Reality before " reality " tv. The ORIGINAL AMERICAN IDOL SHOW but a billion times better, Gene Gene the Dancing Machine, Milton DeLugg and the band with a thud, this is solid freaking platinum stuff I wish to hell they'd sell ALL the seasons on DVD

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol lol lol YOUR STANDING TO CLOSE TO THE CAMERA hOW FAR DO YOU WANT ME TO STAND BACK

    YOU GOT A CAR

    LOL LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

    THAT WAS FUNNY

  • to myradioon-it's all just part of the act....he's not coked out of his mind; don't be so jaded and serious....

  • its ROBIN WILLIAMS!!!

  • @RO80T Err...it's Murray Langston.

  • The Unknown Comic is one of the last living legends

  • I I remember right, Murray Langston was one of the shows writers. I haven't seen this a years, and it's still funny. I'd rather see this come back instead of a lot of today's "reality" shows.

  • what does a 300-pound canary say? "Here Kitty Kitty Kitty" roftlmao.

  • The 70's - the era when people could be visibly fucked up on T.V.! Chuck Barris from this show always had that drunk "glow". Richard Dawson from "Family Feud" always looked like he walked on camera from the bar. And that bag doesn't hide the obvious - The Unknown Comic is coked out of his mind! And the public liked it that way! Different times - Joaquim Phoenix's beard and glasses stunt would have been no big deal!

  • @myradioon They're still f*** up on TV. They're just better at covering it up nowadays.

  • Every time he says, we've got more stuff, it just means he's doing a line.

  • you got a car? OMG

  • Someone want to explain that one????

  • Well, we know he's white and he tells some lame jokes. That's a start.

  • the unkown comic was awesome, thanks for posting this

  • haha

  • I use to watch re-runs of this show as a kid during summer breaks before there was cable. Did they ever reveal who was the unknown comic?

  • His name was Murray Langston. He later revealed himself and did so as part of his own stand-up act.

  • Love walked in on me and scared the shhhhhhadows away.

  • Really great stuff.................

  • WTF was that?

  • The unknown comic rocks my fucking socks

  • This guy ROCKS

  • Hey love walkin' on me and scared the ssss.....hhhiiittt out of me!!!

  • "You gotta car?"

    lol-

Awesome 'Business Route 6', Mid-Century spiel!

  • what a freak

  • Murray had this bar, Show Biz, on the corner of Victory and Lankershim in North Hollywood (1973-4). His sister Annette (?) tended bar and his dad worked in the kitchen. Murray was doing the Sonny and Cher Show with Freeman King, who was often at the bar. Regulars were Kip Adotta and Johnny Dark. It was awesome! My neighbor Michael Alaimo did some stuff there too. It was stand up comic Jimmy O'Brien who told me that Murray was the Unknown Comic. Gosh, I miss those years in California!

  • I remember his saying, "Hey Chuckie, we can do an impression of a horse. I'll be the front end, and you can be yourself."

  • OMG how funny!!!!

  • I think i remember that one, lol

  • Now he's The Known Comic.

  • paper bag on national tv great stuff

  • I read about this guy in Chunklet magazine years ago. Underneath, he looks kinda like Jeff Foxworthy.

  • Chuck clapped four times in that video! :oP

  • A lot better than the crap we have now...

  • Yes, back then they KNEW crap!

    That's crap made to last!

  • got that right- MTV horrible

  • I thought he was talking to the doll...

Hey Chukie, your stabing to close to the camera.

That's what i thought he said..

  • He was alright, but he tried too hard, as stated. He wouldn't make it in todays comic world.

  • LMAO...YOU GOTTA CAR??? bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha

  • @surgednb srsly?

  • @Enctypt ya srsly

  • @surgednb I KNOW!! Hahahahahahaha! Love walked in on me and scared the ssssss----hadows away (ba bum bah!) LMAO!!!!

  • Did Steve Martin ever have color in his hair besides grey?

  • he has had grey hair since the start of his career

  • WOW, I remember this show!

  • well i remember him and i am only 37....

  • A classic device...abuse the host repeatedly. It never gets old!

  • people used to say this was andy kauffman

  • hey big stabby, time to get that mammogram cause you are one big boob! and sorry to say it is malignant.

  • You poor bastard. Born without a sense of humor? How tragic that you must claw your way thru life without one.

  • I know the unknown comic

  • I "dressed" up as him for halloween. :D

  • YEAH! I DID TOO! twas back in the GONG SHOW'S height.

  • Yea, some of us are in our 50's...... you punkass kid!

  • "What does a 300 lb canary say?

    HERE KITTY-KITTY, HERE KITTY-KITTY!"

    lmao!

  • The Orginal Gong Show beats the new one by far.

  • There's a new one?

  • Yeah, seems they are bringing back several old shows, as they even have a new Unsolved Mysteries, rolls eyes, & neither show even comes close to the original.

  • @sphinxrising58 there's a new one? is chuck still hosting?

  • @EnjoyTheRideOfLife There is, or at least was a new version, but it sadly lacked the life of the orginal show, & I have no idea if Chuck has anything to do with the new show.

  • Little trivia for you Pinky and the Brain fans who happened to catch "Pinky Suavo" on Youtube: This guy is whom Pinky ended up becoming at the end - The UNKNOWN SUAVO!! NARF!

  • lol...that's why i looked him up yoshiangemon, I was like "who's the unknown comic??" lol

  • "We'll be back with more stuff!" This show was a freakin blast!

  • Just watched the new gong show. It's funny - but nothing like this!!! Unknown Comic smoking w/ a paper bag on his head. NOW THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! AHHHHH........

  • Oh, the orginal Gonng Shows was crazy, while the new one seems like it tries too hard, and let's face it, it has a dull host, and even duller judges.

  • what was the movie the unknown comic was in ...it was real bad but funny..they had a midget police captian and wierd stuff like that ? if anyone knows please reply....i cant sleep untill i remember.. lol

  • Night Patrol or Night Squad.

Linda Blair was in it. Check imdb.

  • Who Was That Masked Man?

  • I loved the unknown comic as a kid.

  • Ya me too!

  • Back then I used to think the unknown comic was really Steve Martin, because he had the same mannerisms as Martin.

  • Pretty funny guy, too bad he wasn't as big as other comics (who are less funny.)

    -E

  • Paper or Plastic

  • lol‮

  • Let me ask you, did you laugh when you saw this clip? Now be honest.

  • It didn't last 5 mins. Who officially said he was a legend, that's just some persons opinion. Its just a bit of FUN and if you can't see that then what would you know about comedy anyway? Lighten up.

  • I know it's just a bit of fun and I wasn't making a big deal of it. I was just making a point, that's all. Sheesh.

  • Fair enough,I think he was probably only funny on the gong show...theres only so many bag on your head jokes you can make! I prefer some early Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, Aussie bloke Rodney Rude - have you heard of him if not YouTube him.

  • @stingray2001 yes i did... and i wasnt thought of yet

  • @stingray2001 I laughed at him more than laughed with him but The Gong Show wouldn't be the same without him!

  • @lighthouse44 I've only heard of George Carlin in that entire list. I've heard of the Unknown Comic though. Hm... Not very legendary if NO ONE knows who they are...

  • @Masoneter Well then you're either 12 years old or you've been living under a rock. Those names that I mentioned are indeed comedy legends and just because your dumb ass doesn't know who they are doesn't change that fact. Quite frankly, you should be embarrassed that you've never heard of guys like Don Rickles, Alan King, Richard Pryor, etc.

  • the unknown comic is a legend lol

  • I like when Chuck just closes the curtain.

  • Thats funny? can someone please direct me to an older comic who is actually remotly funny?

  • Well be right back with more sssstuff!

  • "gotta car?"**

  • who was the unknown comic?

  • Murray Langston.

  • Guess that means he's not unknown, anymore.

  • I so remember this skit! My mom would NOT let me watch it, but little ol me found a way and I'll never forget it! Long Live The Gong Show and The Unknown Comic!

  • You weren't even alive in the 1970's. How would you know?

  • blame it on the 60's.

  • Used to watch The Gong Show as a kid...loved the Unknown Comic...I remember once he was pulling hankies out of his bag holes...in one hole and out the other...he was wild and wacky! Great show too.

  • Ask-a-Ninja's Grandpa.

  • I know, right?!?

  • There was also a movie about the unknown comic, I can't remember the name but it was pretty funny.Great blast from the past.

  • It was night patrol, where he was a cop during the day and the Unknown comic at night.

  • i got to see this at school

  • Boy, you're lucky.

  • i had to be the unknown comic in my school play

  • Boy, you're even luckier.

  • Wasn't one of the panelists here Steve Martin?

  • Yes.

  • does anyone know where Murray was born and raised?

  • I onnce heard Andy Kaufman was the unknown comic, has anyone else heard this?

  • The Unknown Comic was Murray Langston. He was also appearing w/o bag as himself on a short lived afternoon program called "Everyday". He was funny but flamed out pretty quickly.

  • He eventually took off the bag off his head, then was no longer "unknown". As you said, his career flamed out pretty quickly.

  • was this supposed to be funny?

  • It actually is funny, if you were born before 1980 and therefore have a brain.

  • I was;

Maybe the CIA should have had Chuck Barris take the Unknown Comic out...

  • especially if you were born in 1968 and watched it live growing up as a kid like me i just came in here and started watchin these and yes i remember all most all of them christ i was 8 years old in 76'

  • I love this! Where did you get this clip? can you let me know?

  • sometimes the GSN will run the reruns of this show

  • the unknown comic rocks always :):):) thanx for this bonkerville blast of my zany past :):):) always dream~~~dare~~~dive, johnutty :):):)

  • For my high school senior year, we had jell-o wrestling as a fund raiser. A friend of mine and I put paper bags on our heads and called ourselves The Unknown Tag Team.

  • I wonder how he came up with the routine the unknown comic. It certainly was different. I never seen anyone else do that.

  • Chuck Barris was also a hit man for the CIA!

  • I thought that was a rumor.

  • I think it was true.

  • I wonder though what has happened to him since then. Is he is still active?

  • He is still around and active. Check him out on Wikipedia.

  • Murry Langston? If I am not mistaken, he used to be connected with the Sonny and Cher show

  • Yes he was a regular on the show.

  • was that steve martin in the panel?
