That shouldve made a comic character out of a jawa rather then invent a new species. He could have been their side kick thief, stealing his way throughout the prequels. Appropriating random items from the emperors robes, yodas copy of penthouse, windus nation of islams guide to galactic domination etc. Maybe adding a touch of drama here and there, like not letting a good business opportunity pass and selling anakin back into slavery.
