Interesting comments! I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer living in The Gambia for the last 11 months. I shop at the Serrekunda Market every Sunday. At 1st visit, I remember it being visually shocking and dirty and scary and loud and all those things we are so unfamiliar with in the states. Now, it's one of my favorite places to visit for all of those same reasons. It's so ALIVE! You just have to spend a lot of time in the 3rd world before you have right to comment on it (good or bad). This clip is a very fair reflection of Gambia. Serekunda is the biggest town in The Gambia, its population is much larger than the capital Banjul. As for the nice homes. unfortunately by first world standards they do not exist, unless you count the homes that are owned by none Gambians like the Europeans and Lebanese. As for shopping malls, forget it, but there are some wonderful indoor markets. When an average wage is $250 a year you worry more about feeding yourself than getting to the mall.
