  • Nationalized health care ends up becoming about turf-protection, central control, dehumanization of individuals, and a monopoly on health service rationing to a clique of “masters of the universe” who end up thinking their number-crunching degrees in epidemiology give them moral license to determine who deserves to live and die.

  • Is this trying to say that the Liberals are suggesting America would move towards a single payer system AGAINST its own will? The way I read it was that when people see that a government option works better they'll change their minds and a single payer system won't seem so scary. It'll be a natural move completely governed by the people. The Liberals who believe in the strength of a single payer system believe it's inevitable because they believe their system works.

  • obama doesnt even know what he is doing as president.

  • BAN INSURANCE COMPANIES! WE DON"T NEED THAT INDUSTRY AT ALL.

WE CAN JUST ALL GET IN THE SAME POT PUT IN SOME MONEY AND COVER EACH OTHER. NO ONE SHOULD PROFIT FROM TRAGEDIES.

  • @tonybeir But nobody should be able to take advantage of my money should they chose to live unhealthy, or just feel like going to the doctor for a stomach ache. Sure everyone in Canada can afford to go to the doctor, it just takes a few months. I'm not willing to sacrifice health care quality.

And it's already illegal for emergency rooms to turn someone down if they can't pay, so that really doesn't seem like a problem.

  • @crader28 - After the incident I had this weekend with an eye injury, I'm even more opposed to 'waiting around months' to see a doctor due to government intervention/takeover of the health care in this nation. My vision is now 85% back to normal after 3 days. I'd hate to see how I'd be feeling living in Canada or some other socialist nation right now!

  • @tonybeir So you're just going to wipe billions of dollars of the economy? And what if I don't want to cover you or anybody else? Will you send me to prison for that? If you want to pay for others' healthcare, there's a thing called charity.

  • Jan Schakowsky's segment is really telling. When the audience started cheering when they heard the public option would lead to single payer and Jan said that it would. What more evidence could you need to prove this is an attempt to lead to single payer?

  • Insurance companies are going to get out of prvate health insurance pretty qucikly now. I have a freind who is losing his company and my wife is losing hers that will take effect Nov. 1 2010. It is really coming quick the public option. The democrats shoved it too us, now how in the hell are they going to afford it, taxpayers cannot afford that much more.

  • SPPPOOOOOOOKKKKKKYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

  • the music is really scary! o.o

  • It's insulting how retarded the gov is.

  • universal healthcare operates fine in nearly every country that has it. for the richest country in the world it really isn't good enough that they haven't implemented it in the past.

  • If it operates so "fine" then why is it the richest persons in those nations travel to the United States of America for expensive procedures? Why is it that we are basically exporting all of our gains in the medical field to these "great Socialist nations" for them to consider using - if they deem it worthy of their citizen base? And why is it that nearly every Socialist country with this system is reporting their system on the verge of bankruptcy? "Fine" doesn't cut it for real Americans!

  • @ senfaninohio - Americans spend over twice as much on health care per capita as Swedes do. American healthcare system is easily the most expensive in the world (takes up 16% of economic output), with rapidly rising costs. A huge number of Americans don't have access to healthcare. I'm a Canadian and to me, the American system sounds like it belongs in a 3rd world country. Sweden, Switzerland, Canada have made it work. And all of these nations enjoy a higher quality of life than the States.

  • @XBillums And do you even comprehend WHY Americans spend so much? Because of bureaucratic red tape - and because of misuse! Health insurance was NEVER designed to cover prescriptions, doctor calls or even hangnails! Yet Americans routinely abuse and misuse their health insurance for such things. Health insurance was designed to cover surgeries, expensive tests, etc. We are our own worst problem - that and allowing our government to run everything and screw it up!

  • @ sensfaninohio - I completely agree with you on that. The American system is one of the most inefficient in the world. There are a large number of countries (look up the system in Singapore, arguably the best in the world) with much cheaper, more effective, more inclusive systems. So why not change?

  • @XBillums - Why should I allow the government to control what I eat, whether or not I can have a child, when I am to die, etc. Maybe in your country you enjoy being told how to run your daily life based on what your health coverage will and will not cover - but I do not. Government is not the solution to anything - it is the problem! This nation is trillions of dollars in debt - and the incompetent electorate buys into this "free" business like it's ice cream give aways on a hot summer day!

  • @sensfaninohio - Idk about the bill you're dealing with in America, but in Canada the government doesn't tell me what I can eat, they don't tell me when I am to die, they don't tell me if I can have a child - they don't run my life in any way. And I know that if I need to see a doctor I can just make an appointment and go in - no insurance companies, no rejected coverage. The system works very well. Your "incompetent electorate" is just polarized by republican chronic misinformation campaigns.

  • NEWSFLASH!! USA is broke. Over 10trillion dollars in debt and rapidly rising. It's now half owned by Chinese Japanese and Koreans who when they choose to call in their loans will destroy the US as an economic power. As far as trade deficit goes you're bottom of the list of all nations on the planet. Watch I.O.U.S.A. YOU ARE FUCKED

  • @sensfaninohio It's true, I think the US has around 250,000 travel to the US each year for medical treatment, while only around 17,000 leave (I'm off on the figures, but the scale is something like that). So it has excellent healthcare if you're within the system, but not if you aren't. I don't imagine a lot of what they plan will actually do much for cost control though; the economist who helped write the Mass. plan said as much (Gruber I think his name was), it'll help coverage.

  • @timwr1234 - This plan doesn't help coverage - that's a total falsehood spread by the DNC and the liberal media. There are still anywhere from 8 to 20-million people who will not get coverage under this debacle! So we steal away billions of tax dollars more from hard-working Americans for what? So the House and Senate can still have better health coverage than you or me? So that millions can lose their coverage and be forced onto this plan? Or so hundreds of holdouts get tossed in jail?

  • @sensfaninohio It'll still be an improvement in coverage, the rest are largely illegal immigrants or those who get a fine instead of insurance (a group of people who have just been made vastly worse off in direct contradiction to Obama's promise in the campaign.) Mandate coverage, force insurance companies to accept people and subsidise coverage you'll probably get an increase. The cost control element is just to try everything (mandates, exchanges, cost effectiveness research) to if any work.

  • @timwr1234 - An improvement? Selling your soul to the Devil is an improvement over keeping your freedom and liberty? Allowing the Federal government to determine who lives and who dies based on available funds is better than allowing a person to choose for him or herself what course of action to take in their own medical treatment? Hey if you like being taken care of, nursed and coddled then be my guest. But I prefer to be in charge over myself and my family - not having some bureaucrat!

  • @sensfaninohio I entirely agree on that: the system in the UK has taken cost effectiveness to a dangerous place where local NHS trusts deny certain treatments because they are ineffective on average. What I expect though is about 5-10 years they accept that most of the attempts to control cost growth haven't worked and they need a new plan (so what made this plan urgent, cost, it will probably do very little to address). Giving subsidies annoys me, but only as much as progressive income tax.

  • @timwr1234 - And by the way, those numbers do NOT factor in illegal criminal immigrants. Those are factual numbers I've seen from varied sources, including a few liberal ones that did not factor in the illegal scum either. Toss them into the mix - which is coming thanks to Ovomit's planned amnesty program, and you've not got anywhere from 10-million to upwards of 30-million more people on your back and mine!

And just WHERE are the doctors going to come from? Have you asked one lately?? I HAVE!

  • @sensfaninohio Ah sorry, I could be wrong about the inclusion of illegals. I know the CBO made an estimate saying the portion of illegal immigrants could be as high as 15 million (which is probably a low estimate) by 2019. The bulk, who don't have work based insurance, will remain uninsured (aside from emergency care). I think those were estimates the CBO sent to Chuck Grassley, but I will try to hunt down the letter.

  • Liberals not listening to information that is handed to them??? Noooo, never.

  • what place in the world do u see a movement demanding the american system of healthcare?

  • @nomeatsteak Yeah, but where else do you see government officials from nations with socialized health care coming for their health care? You get what you pay for..

  • @nomeatsteak None because it'd be a ridiculously difficult task.

  • @nomeatsteak America.

  • @CaptainAmerica5013 A bit more than 49% asks for Obamacare.

  • "I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. Thristy and you gave me nothing to drink. Naked and you did not clothe me. Sick and in prison and you did not comfort me. To the extent you did not do this to these, the least of my brothers, you did not do it to me."

  • The government is not supposed to handle that..... The church is supposed to my man

  • Obama tells the truth and nobody listens! He wants a good DEBATE! You will have a shitty healtcare system, but guys, you had a GOOD DEBATE! :-)

  • @csurmi22 So during his campaign when he said that he would always talk and work stuff out with both sides when trying to push major legislation, did he just mean until he got tired of trying? That's not what is sounded like to me. And now, in a desperate attempt to get this through, he is going to go over the heads of even Democrats to pass this.

Hah, "I welcome all ideas." If that were true, we would've agreed on something by now instead of passing this thing without a vote.

  • We need tort reform and interstate commerce for our healthcare. The more the competition, the more the cost would go down

  • What book? 1984?

  • Beck is right about the healthcare. Do not accept this. If you give socialists a chance they will gradually completely take over: control your life, indoctrinate (especially kids) and take away you right to freedom of expression.

  • why cant they have a public option as well as private, like a lot of other countries, its big business that worry about not making as big returns cos theres another option, maybe if we dont spend 25% of gdp on military we could afford it

  • What does military spending have to do with government regulation (ie: red tape) and the fact that individuals and companies are not allowed to seek outside their own state borders for better health insurance? One has absolutely NOTHING to do with the other! A public option is nothing more than "I'm here from the government - and I am here to help ... screw up your life and become your Nanny instead of your voice in Washington!"

  • bro im thumbs up on healthcare in USA if the USA had a large surplus , i live in Puerto Rico (us territory) and our public healthcare system is bankrupt not a lot of doctors accept it ! and the funniest thing is that our public healthcare insurance is paid with US funds !

  • So let me get this correct - your system is bankrupt, so you want us to go bankrupt too? Wow - that makes sense! And sure why not make millions of others pay for your wants needs and desires. Yes there you have it - the real reason for health care -- so someone else can take care of me!! Congrats - you've just joined the liberal socialst progressive movement and are now enslaved! Take a bow!!

  • nooo not at all .. i am against the USA going bankrupt and much less cause of stupid healthcare ! idk if you have noticed but if the USA goes bankrupt then a lot of other countries would suffer and it will not be good at all !!! im saying that Puerto Rico is Bankrupt cause of the stupid healthcare and bad administration !

  • Then why "thumbs up" on health care in your previous post? Simple health care reform is needed -- opening interstate commerce to health insurance providers as well as Tort Reform for trial lawyers suing for insane amounts of money in medical cases. Take government out of the health care issue altogether and you will see costs plummet and hospitals perform better. Government is NEVER the answer - it is the root of all evil!

  • Do you know what the word "if" means?

It denotes a conditional statement--should the given condition hold TRUE, the rest of the statement is made; if false, it is not made.

Also, if not for government, who'd pay for the military's insurance? Or the military itself, for that matter? Don't you want America to be safe?

  • @rayflava1990 The U.S. has probably the best health care in the world right now, why change it? also why change it in probably, if not, the worst possible time to do it in ( recession). its 3 Trillion dollars which will also mean a waterfall of taxes that will send the country into more debt etc. 58% of the american people disapprove it so why is it being pushed on us...that really sounds like control cause if we went into more debt there'd be another excuse for control by obama.

  • @DJDanny - Oh there is reason to change it. But what Ovomit and the Liberals in Congress want to do is not "change" but totally blow it up and send it backwards in time. Basically they want to do what they always do - if it's not working right scrap the whole damn thing and start from scratch rather than tweak it.

Government being involved in health care is why it's broken and needs a fix. Get the Fed and states out of it and things will get better!

  • ya im with ya on that. They shouldnt be allowed to be doing what there doing right now because its completely against the constitution and gonna go down a long road that is probably going to end up being socialist or commi or w/e which is what thousands of lives have died (wars) to break away from and live in freedom.they're either dumb or want to change the whole system. overall they need to be removed. but ya im with you on that

  • @DJDannyBacardi I think the approval rating is higher now, but you are absolutely right! He wants control, not healthcare, because if he really wanted healthcare, he would try to compromise, not push it through without a vote.

I heard a story on the radio of someone in the European system. Another person had to have emergency surgery to live, and he didn't get it for TWO WEEKS. I'd rather not wait to live when I can pay less than I will be in taxes to get immediate medical service.

  • People fail to realize that there's no such thing as "free health care". If you're going to provide a service, it's always going to come from someone's pocket. I honestly don't see the need to have anymore of my money sent out to this Welfare system. If someone is unable to afford health care, that's their own damn fault, not mine. I don't see why I should work my ass off only to have my money taken from me to pay for some Waffle waitresses' mistake of not applying to college.

  • dude our healthcare system is ranked behind Costa Rica's the countries with the best healthcare in the world are european socialist countries I'd rather need emergency surgery in Sweden then get stitches here

  • Health reform needs to be done period and at least for once a a President is trying to do something about it.

  • So even if it will further bankrupt the country, drive the national debt deeper into the red ink, and cause millions of Americans to lose their current health care -- it has to be done. I wonder if the Germans in 1930 thought the same thing of Adolph Hitler's plans? Perhaps Italians under Mussolini? Russians under Stalin? Or Chinese under Mao?

  • Honestly dude, we're off course here. So here is my closing argument, and you can take it anyway you like. There is absolutely NOTHING in the Constitution that says that providing healthcare to all citizens is un-American, just as there is nothing about clean air.

So bottom line, if you find it acceptable to allow almost 50 million of your fellow citizens to go without healthcare because you think it's unfair to you, then I honestly think you are a selfish man.

  • Selfish? Because I want to determine the best course of action for my family? Selfish because I want to keep more of my money in my pocket and give it to charities and organizations of my choosing and not "share" it with millions by the point of a gun?

No, you sir need to look up the definition of stealing because that is exactly what happens when a body comes in by force and takes from you to redistribute to another. You sir are aiding a criminal act - not saving people!

  • this is why I don't trust democrats

they always seem to want to push for socialism

  • nickyr2,

    Do you understand economics?

    Are you for Capitalism?

    Are you for Socialism?

    Has Socialism ever worked?

Have you read the Health Care government takeover?

  • public plan means a government controlled health insurance. the government is corrupt and evil. they do human experimentation. their doctors will do as they want with you including not tell you that you have a disease and let it progress so they can study the disease while you die or get very sick and they will give you pain medication to deal with the pain while you keep on dying. or if you are health, but poor, they want to kill off the poor people burden on society. 95% population reduction.

  • A government that does not care about it's people is evil and has given up on it's people.

  • The trouble is - this government should be "by the people" and "for the people." It's not. It is all for itself and for becoming god-like in the eyes of the people. Until people understand we really don't need the government but the government needs us - we are doomed to become slaves to the government!

  • Sp force the government to provide us with health service.

  • Oh agreed, we do need health care reform. Obama's version has NOTHING to do with health care and NOTHING to do with reform! WAKE UP - GET OFF THE KOOL-AID! This is all about taking control over 1/7th of the US Economy by the government and a HUGE power grab over total control over YOU, YOUR LIFE and YOUR HEALTH!

Health care reform of TORT REFORM combined with INTERSTATE COMMERCE is what is needed -- not Barack Hussein Obama controlling your doctor and your life!!!

  • sensfaninohio,

Are you sure we need Health Care Reform or government reform?

  • If you are asking which is more critical, I'd have to say that removing the criminal element from the District of Corruption is far more important. After all, only 15% of all Americans don't have health insurance - by choice or because of poverty. There are alternatives for them, including the fact we have laws that state ERs cannot turn people away. So I say let's VOTE EVERYONE of THEM OUT (VETO) and get people in with morals, principles & values like the Founding Fathers!

  • Agreed.

  • State ERs cannot turn people away, correct, but that doesn't mean that those uninsured people will be able to afford the excruciatingly high cost of treatment. And you're also correct that only about 15% are uninsured, but remember that that is about 50 million people.

  • Now that being said ... there is needed health care reform -- GETTING GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE WAY for starters. Open up the interstate commerce of health insurance so that a state like California can have more than 6 choices out of some 1700 companies!

The other "reform" needs to come from Tort Reform and limiting the number of inept lawsuits that doctors and hospitals have to deal with. That would be one use where government could make a real difference!

  • Agreed.

  • How exactly would implementing a universal healthcare system equal government taking total control over your health? Does the existance of government-provided education and state universities intrude on your right to choose your own education? That the government wants to provide coverage for those who don't have it is not evil.

  • Yes, the government DOES intrude on one's right to education! Unless you have the money to pay for private schooling, most state's do not allow your child to transfer outside of a set district and attend other schools. Many states have done away with school vouchers that allow the tax monies collected via property taxes and/or school levies to "follow" the child wherever they choose to go! Ask the kids of Washington D.C. how they like being robbed of school choice thanks to Obama!!

  • But you DO have a choice - public or private. It's not as if you are being forced at gunpoint to do something you don't want to do. You don't want your child attending public school for some reason? Then you every right to go and pay extra for a private school or tudor. Hell, if you want, you can home-school your child yourself. The fact that there is an educational "public option" does not mean that you have no other choice, that's why it's called an option.

  • And most are either (a) Illegal Immigrants here taking welfare and medical care without any regard for the rest of us .... or (b) people who CHOOSE not to have health insurance because they feel they are young enough not to need the cost!

  • But WHY do some people "choose" to forego health insurance? It's not because they think it unnecessary, it's because they can't afford to pay the premiums that the vulture insurance companies charge. The insurance companies know that people will pay whatever they ask of us, so in that sense it is no better than an illegal monopoly. The insurance companies are nothing more than middlemen who profit off of misery.

  • That is the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard. The majority of people who do not want health care do not want it because they wish to spend it on DVDs, CDs, HiDef TVs and other toys. But that is their choice! I won't tell them they are wrong - like you - who now demand they pay more in taxes to give to others or face JAIL TIME - yes that's right JAIL TIME for not "buying" health care coverage. Is that freedom?

  • "Illegal immigrants here taking welfare and medical care without any regard for the rest of us"

Now, my friend, that is an immigration topic, not a healthcare topic. Two different subjects. You should not deny healthcare to small business employees simply because some illegal might slip through the cracks.

But in Canada or Britain, you or I can walk into an ER and get treated for free. The problem is not who gets treated, the problem is the money being charged for treatment.

  • No, illegal immigration AND health care are one and the same when illegals are taking MY tax money and using it to pop out yet another illegal baby on US soil or to fix their broken arm because they came into this country over a border wall designed to keep them out and got hurt!

And excuse me but ANYONE in America can walk into ANY emergency room in the US and get treatment! And why? Because FEDZILLA demanded it - which is part of why we are in the mess we are in today in rising costs!

  • No you do not have a choice! Parents who pay for private schools are paying TWICE because their tax monies DO NOT FOLLOW THE CHILD! Now how is this fair? How is this an open system of enrolment? Only the rich, who can afford to pay twice, can send their kids to the best schools while others are forced to take what the state mandates! Please - that is not free choice that is government dictatorial powers of your kid goes here or you move - period!

  • So what would you propose? That private schools lower their rates so you can send your child there? Or are you proposing that we abolish public-schooling altogether?

  • What part of keeping my money don't you comprehend? What part of allowing me to decide where my children go to school seems to not breach your 20-something braincells?

Voucher systems work - but liberals do not like it because it puts the POWER to make choice int he hands of the PARENT and not the NANNY STATE. All of your arguments FOR bigger government create a NANNY STATE - something any freedom-loving American should be against!

  • As to your question about universal health care, go ask a Canadian, Brit or other European if they have full rights to any treatment they want? Ask them if they can pick or choose specialists? And ask them if they all have access to a PCP? I know many Canadian friends who don't have a PCP and are waiting in a "lottery" for someone to die or move out of the city before they can see a doctor. Look up John Stossel and health care on YouTube for more insight.

  • I've spoken with many Canadians and Brits about their healthcare systems, and most are happy with it. Those systems are based on necessity rather than who has the most money. Sure, those systems are not perfect, but they also don't leave 50 million people in the dust with no place to turn like our curret system does. There are 3 basic rights that every citizen should have, and those are safety, education, and healthcare.

    Have fun filtering my comments.

  • Excuse me? Basic rights? You tell me where those are listed in the Constitution and I will agree with you. But you can't because they are not there! Besides - if you're so into "rights" that are basic, I would say there are some more basic ones ahead of education, safety and health care. How about a place to live? Food to eat? Clean air to breathe? A job to earn a living? Where are you bleeding heart liberals pounding out the real needed things instead of these fictitious ones??

  • So you're saying that the government should personally provide shelter, food, and employment for everyone? That sounds more like the former USSR (where my family came from). There is no "right to clean air" bill in the Constitution, but that doesn't mean that the issue should be shunned. And yes, healthcare IS a "real needed thing", how can you possibly not see that? There is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that says that socializing healthcare is un-American, is there?

  • Wait your family escaped from the USSR and yet you preach here about more government control and more government intrusion into your choices and freedoms? HA! What a hypocritical statement!

No I am not suggesting the government do ANYTHING beyond what is stated int he Constitution. My point - which you and all liberals miss - is if you are going to preach about health care why not free food, clothing, shelter and jobs first! Why bypass the most basic needs for secondary ones??

  • @sandro28grizz forcing someone to buy something or face penatlys is against the constitution. and your basic freedom of choice given by the constitution. that is what is un-american

  • so is it also 'UNAMERICAN' to make you pay for fire or police protection???

  • @CzeciStan1 - Quite frankly that has to be the lamest argument for universal health care I've ever heard. Firstly, most city charters DO stipulate that government is responsible for police and fire protection, or an all-volunteer force is authorized by said government. I bet you can't find "provide health care for all" within ANY document pertaining to the guidelines for government!

  • Just because over 200 years ago someone didnt forsee the need for public healthcare doesnt change the fact that it SHOULD BE NO DIFFERENT FROM EITHER OR .....

  • @CzeciStan1 - Congratulations on the 2nd lamest comeback on health care! Again I point out that I don't see liberals demanding "free food" or "free water" or "free clothing" for all Americans - only "free health care." You do understand that is what "universal" means correct? No one goes without - we are all entitled to it? I'd say I'd be more entitled to air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink and clothing to wear before I'd want to be entitled to see a doctor or hospital!

  • @CzeciStan1 - Secondly, if "health care" is such a right - then why have we not already had "Universal Drinking Water" - Govt. charges for that - it's not free! How about "Universal Food" - I don't see grocery stores in danger of govt. take over! How about "Universal Clothing" - I don't see clothing stores being bought out by govt. I'd say those three things are FAR MORE IMPORTANT than "universal health care" is because without food, water & clothes you won't need health care - you're dead!

  • FIRST OFF we do have standards for safe food and drinking water secondly have ever had to pay thousands of dollars just to eat one meal???? i pay over 900 dollars a month for just one perscription!!!! you tell me is it a right of big insurance and big pfharma to charge me so much for my meds???? you tell me!!!

  • @CzeciStan1 - Did I say standards? No - I said FREE - as in the free health care coverage that is now being rammed down our throats at the expense of all of us who work for a living! I'm all for changing standards in health care - but this new law DOES NOT DO THAT! It strips all rights from the patient, the doctor AND the health insurance companies and gives them all to one party - WASHINGTON!

There is nothing FREE about this health care, except to lazy welfare slugs & illegal immigrants!

  • @sensfaninohio did i say free??? no i didnt it should be covered by taxes is what i am saying

  • @CzeciStan1 - So then you are indeed a Communist! Thank you for making my point. It is tax payer money that pays for these "services" or will pay in the case of health care. So someone who doesn't use it is paying for everyone who does. Wow, isn't that special - you'd like theft!

So then it's okay next week for me to come over and demand money at gun point from you for my prescriptions? DVDs? Cable bill? No?? Why not? You advocate the same thing! Try looking up Exodus 20:15 sometime & read it!

  • @sensfaninohio lol ok? where do you think your taxes go now? your still paying for public schooling and other public "services" so why cry over one more thing that can help a lot of people?

  • @Mluna792 - I know where my taxes go now! But let me ask you ... WHERE DOES IT STOP? It never DOES - which is why this nation is BANKRUPT! You do know we are printing money without ANYTHING to back it up, right? You do understand that robbing from Peter to pay for Paul's hernia is still a crime, right? IT'S CALLED THEFT! Taxes are not volunteered! The government ROBS you of your hard-earned money and GIVES it to some lazy slug who can't cut it! So can I come over and steal $300 for a new XBox?

  • @CzeciStan1 one fatal flaw in your argument it is covered by taxes, and obvious enough you have internet access so please do yourself a favor and look it up on some website or read all 2074 pages of the bill.

  • @CzeciStan1 find a website, read the bill just please help yourself and get that facts.

  • @CzeciStan1 - And I feel bad that you have to pay $900 for a single prescription. But don't blame the pharmaceutical company outright, nor the health insurance companies. BLAME D.C. because they are the ones with all the red tape and bureaucracy that have caused over 70% of the nightmare people are in dealing with health care costs! If all those other costs were down - so might your drug! My guess is it's a new drug, right? So now companies can not make a profit? How communist of you to say!

  • Thought you believed in free-speech bro? Then why filter my comments just because you disagree?

  • I "filter" comments due to the lack of morals by most people on YouTube who use profainty - who come in looking for a flame war or to insult posters and/or the information. Serious debate is never censored here - only smart-alic feeble-minded individuals who type "you suck" or other inflammatory comments. You do see all yours show up, correct? I believe an apology is in order!

  • I do not remember my first comment being filtered, I thought it went in right away. If that was not the case and I happened to miss it, my apologies.

  • Well that is the first thing that's made sense from you and your comments during this entire thing. Anyone who visits my channel knows why I keep it clean in here - I have morals and ethics and do not appreciate inflammatory remarks, profanity or any other form of abuse to take place. There are plenty of places on YouTube where no comments are allowed. But I believe in free speech - just not so "free" that you incite hatred and bring profanity into my pages.

  • With the current American system of HMOs and health insurance at least we have the choice to opt out of the HMO or to cancel policies and move elsewhere via our jobs and get different health care. What choice do Americans have when the ONLY choice is Barack Hussein Obama - a Marxist radical leader on the verge of becoming a tyrant - and his cronies of 60's radical Communists & Marxists? If you trust Communists - then move to Russia!

  • It's not that simple. There are plenty of people who work hard, have good jobs and still get screwed over by their health insurance. How exactly is someone supposed to "move on" when their policy doesn't pay off and they end up tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt due to expensive surgery? They go bankrupt, end up on welfare and are then scolded for "leeching the system". Please tell me what someone is supposed to do in this kind of a situation?

  • Okay, as a 21-year old how many people do you know that this has happened to. Tell us names - show us links to their stories. My wife worked in the health insurance field for years before moving into hospital work and never once was there such an issue where her company ever just "dropped" someone - because in most states it is against the law. And never once did a customer "go on welfare" due to insurance not paying what was stated in a policy agreement. Facts - not rhetoric, please!

  • droog we the people need to take back our government which is corrupt on both ends. control the government and then police the private sector (not own) just make sure justice is done and the private companies are not making tons of profits while their are giving us back insurance. also the costs of the healthcare need to go down. the main culprits are those managing the hospitals; they are the communist fascists. they kill off good honest private practice doctors with fake lawsuites.

  • Do you know how many people in other countries would kill for the opportunity to get universal healthcare, and I mean both the rich and the poor. And here you're arguing over it in fear of government control, cause it appears too 'socialist', when in fact most of the leftover socialist countries don't have it yet. It all comes down to whether you will have more faith in your government, which you elect, or in some organization that is looking to make profits.

  • I have no faith in the government, mostly because those I voted for never made it to an office I wanted them in. The moronic voters who vote for people based on "looks" or buzzwords like "hope" and "change" are the ridiculous and inept people who should feel ashamed for not being educated - unless they love Marxism and government corruption that makes Mexico look like paradise! V.E.T.O. -- VOTE EVERYONE of THEM OUT!!!

  • Well of course no one trusts their government because all the politicians are idiots or corrupted, that's true all over the world, but having universal healthcare is actually a good thing. The only ones who have something to fear are the private health insurance companies, or in the US case, the HMOs. And people can still remain on HMO if they want to. American irrational fear of socialism is so amusing, it makes you do the craziest things, mass murders and easy targets for manipulation.

  • Your comment makes no sense. In one breath you say we should not trust the government. In the next you say we should allow them to dictate our health and medical needs. So which is it? Do we allow a corrupt government access and ability to control our very lives? Or do we continue to distrust these agents of corruption and immorality and not give them one single way to control us? Please let us know because right now you make as much sense as a $3-bill.

  • You seem to be focusing a lot on the government and not on universal healthcare, in both comments I said it was a good thing. Sure governments are corrupt, but all the government has to do with universal healthcare is that they give money from the budget, from taxes, and as I said in my first comment I would rather trust the government with my health than some sleazy HMO that only looks to make a profit. I mean look at France, they're at the top of the healthcare list and they're not socialist.

  • Well thank you for not answering the question and for showing that you still don't understand the full scope of things. So let me ask it another way.

Would you want your child to be in a daycare run by child molesters?

Would you want your wife working in a company where her boss, his boss and his boss were all convicted rapists?

You just don't get it - people who love freedom don't want ANYONE in charge of them, and especially not corrupt individuals!

  • i see a flaw in obama's plan. he says that people on insurance can keep it if they want to, and people who can't afford it or don't like their coverage can switch to the public option (which is pretty much "free" because it's being paid with taxes). so if the public option is "free", and you have to pay for insurance, who the hell is gonna keep paying for insurance? everyone will get onto the public option, driving the cost incredibly high, and bankrupting the gov't.

  • Capitalism requires that within an industry there must be competition. Without competition capitalism does not work. The healthcare companies have no true competition with each other and are known to work together for their own benefit. Perhaps a public option will finally provide them with the competition they have been lacking.

I'm sorry it has had to come to this.

  • So the "public option" is your idea of competition? One party with all the power over 1/7th of the US economy while those who are big and small in the health insurance get kicked out? THIS IS COMPETITION?? I'm sorry but you must be smoking your Obama Kool-Aid!

OPEN UP INTERSTATE COMMERCE ON HEALTH INSURANCE - That is the ONE and ONLY way you will get TRUE competition. Who do you think can compete with the federal government? Blue Cross/Blue Shield? THEY ARE IN BED WITH OBAMA!

  • ... wow, what are you talking about? it's true that there's not enough competition, but that's because people don't care about prices. why should they? currently, it's the insurance companies that pay. in socialized medicine, it's just basically replacing the insurance companies with the government, and with more people "not caring", prices will go even higher (for the government). if everyone became caring about prices (which is encouraged by HSA's), then the problem is solved.

  • The only reform for health care that needs to happen is:

The government needs to get and keep its fingers out of health care.

  • You've got it exactly right. If the government pulled out of this ridiculous "universal" system - then opened up interstate commerce for health insurance, you would see prices begin to drop dramatically! Look at what companies like Allstate, Geico, Progressive and others do daily to earn your auto, home & renters insurance! Daily we are bombarded with "comparison" ads. The same would happen in health insurance and within a decade prices would plummet.

  • i totally agree with you. the only problem right now is that people don't know what a lot of things cost. that's a simple way to fix it by encouraging people to spend as much of their own money as possible through HSA's. they become price concious, the medicine companies and doctors will follow, and ultimately, the insurance companies will follow. use the free market, government! the free market was what got us out of every recession/depression so far.

  • get'em glenn

  • i dont know what the health is going on with this health care reform, i wih i knew what is going on.

  • All you need know is this - ask any doctor out there...Are there enough physicians out there in the US to handle the rapid influx of that many people? The answer is - No!

What needs to happen is government needs to get out of the way and let the free market do its own thing and 90% of our troubles will vanish as costs will drop faster and services will become affordable to more people. It's why everyone can afford TVs, DVD players, calculators, etc.

  • The only "idiots" are those who listen to the state-run media who are calling average Americans "nazis," "un-american" and "astro-turf." This country is being turned into Communist Russia ... and this comes from someone who hates BOTH political parties so there is no "bipartisan" here since IMHO they both SUCK! In fact, if you had any facts to back it up, you'd know that these people at town halls are GOP, DNC and Indies - not just from one party. Get some facts first!

  • What I find funny is that all these percieved problems, those which are actually true (and most aren't, but even so) then they can be sorted out before the system is set-up. Yet people don't want to solve them they just assume it's therefore unworkable

  • Obviously you are not paying any attention to the average American standing up at town hall meetings and saying "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY HEALTH CARE!" The vast majority of Americans are happy with what they have, but they also feel they need some "tweaking." I strongly suggest if you are serious about health care issues that you visit the CATO Institute and do some research into how health care can be solved w/out ObamaScare.

  • I am listening to them, and you should inform those people (if you can) thier acting like idiots. akin guns to town halls, crying about screaming I want my country back, others scared because they think its America Turning in to Soviet Russia (has anyone even told them Communist russia is no more?) And the fear mongering about Death Panels! I ave yet to hear a calm coherant and accurate criticism of "ObamaCare". Its all bipartisan BS.

  • Wow bloodwork gets lost in Canada! That is such a bs statement, If you ask the majority of Canadians they are happy with their system. Btw I am a Canadian and your claim is unfounded....Health of a being shouldn't be a Free Market concept nor it is a product...it is every person's right to even if they can't afford it...

  • Okay Canadian, maybe in YOUR country it is a right. But you show me where in the United States Constitution - the laws and foundation of our Republic - it states "thou shalt have a right to free health care?" I'll be waiting!

  • i dont understand why these some of these people say they dont want health care reform because its socialism and yes it is socialism but these same people have parents over 65 that are on medicare and that is a government run heathcare system which is socialism yes but why would you want to keep health care now. it is the most expensive health care in the world

  • Why do we not want socialism? Maybe because we live in a REPUBLIC - where we want the government to be SMALL and not in control of every facet of our daily lives. If people want socialized health care, move to Canada - move to the UK - or move to the E.U. Live there and see how people under 15 are "regulated" on the amount of health care and those over 55 are as well. Socialism kills personal freedom! Socialism is the enemy of liberty!

  • We don't now what Obama's health plan will look like however, if look beyond the rhetoric and look at what Obama has done, then we see that he has slashed 10% from the Medicare Advantage Program. What this means that on October 1st thousands of seniors are going to get cancellation notices. They will then be forced to go back to "original medicare" and either shell out $100 each month for a Medicare Supplement or Face huge deductibles and co-insurance. Also well visits will no longer be covered.

  • The republicans have gone insane,,they are not at all thinking about country and collective good. These guys are the real terrorists who are spreading hate and far about the healthcare reform. It is astonishing to see that any commoners would oppose this. It is the pharma companies (the glorified drug dealers) who are spreading misinformation. God bless america..please!!

  • Please get your facts straight. One - the drug companies are in the back pocket of Obama and this health care abomination. Second - READ THE BILL! The proof is there that Americans - not the GOP - are finding all of these abnormalities contained within the bill such as end of life counselling, drastic cuts to Medicare, etc. Third - this is not health care "reform" this is destroying what has taken decades to build and works for over 70% of this country. Only you are spreading misinformation!

  • Oh, how fun it is to watch the sheeple graze......Bahahahaha

  • It never ceases to amaze me how dumb our Representatives and Senators are. Is it obvious only to me that universal healthcare will bankrupt our country?

  • Of course. You censor comments.

  • Incorrect. I do not "censor" any comments, I moderate them. I delete comments that use profanity (about 80% of them) which I find offensive. I delete comments that are posted trying to incite a flame war (about 10% of them). And I delete comments that are personal attacks on either myself or the person posting a comment (about 10%). And usually I also will screen for spammers (less than 1%). I let your comment through - both of them. I expect an apology.

  • healthcare in america does suck i havent gone to the docter in 2 years i dont even remember my docters name until i saw him on the news when he was charged with molesting a little kid about a month before my docter was arrested i went to get my check up and get some studies on my blood and the doc told me to come back in 4 days to get my result so i paid 78 dollars out of my pocket and came back and found out that they lost my blood and cant find it and i paid for nothing

  • But under Obamacare, you would not have gotten in to see the doctor for weeks - then sent to another place for the blood work and had to wait possibly more weeks to even have it done. Now granted you would not have lost $78 - but there would be a greater chance of the blood work being lost and you would have to start all over waiting weeks for the initial appointment. This is how it works in the UK and Canada - where ObamaCare is modelled after.

  • i cant wait to the day when everyone gets so fed up tha the whole u.s take to the streets to burn down the capital .. many will die but a new system will emerge ...but i dont think were mad enough yet ...were post a rant on youtube mad ..not take to the streets kinda of mad .. but we well be one day ..hopefully in my life time

  • Good call, Chronos. It took the Founding Fathers and the Colonialists a good 20 years before they took up arms and revolted with shots fired. For people like me, I've been in revolt-mode since '88 with Bush #1. But for the average American it's been someplace between Bush #2 and the Patriot Act and Bush #2 and the TARPS Bill.

  • I can't believe people up thumbed this.

  • I almost deleted this because of your degradation of people who agree with this video. But instead I wanted others who view this to see what kind of people children of liberty and freedom have to deal with -- people with no reasonable argument for or against the issue and just wish to come in here and degrade and belittle those with differing opinions. For a "Christian" I would think you'd know better - but the subscription to Media Matters on your page says it all. Enjoy the Kool-Aid!

  • This is so extremely scary...and I feel as though I have no control over what is going to happen to me and my healthcare options...what happened to this being the United States of America the land of the free?

  • Universal Healthcare would not work in the States. We have too many overweight people who dont take care of themselves. Why should I get payed 30k instead of 60k a year. I worked my ass off to get through Nursing School. I dont want to give half of my income to people who where too flippin Lazy to take care of themselves. I say, if you dont like the current system, then move to Europe. This is the United States of America. Dont let our Healthcare system turn into GM.

  • So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

This provision effectively kills all private insurance companies and eliminates all government competition. Now ... is THIS reform? No ... this clearly is SABOTAGE!

  • The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

  • I am an MD in a rural underserved area. NOBODY has contacted me on ideas for solving the cost and access isues. The truth is that this is just a means to an end....the socialists (opps, I mean both parties) will gradually push us into a socialized system. Myself and probably 20% or more of the doctors in the country will quit. Then what? The system will collapse on itself.

  • 20% Oh I believe that will go a bit higher once Obama and his minions institute the "fair wages" that are mandated in places like Canada, the UK and other socialist nations that already have this nightmare system. Doctors now used to making a lot of money will get their salaries cut dramatically - which will institute a complete collapse as specialists run for retirement and others just quit - including many PCPs

  • Yes, you nailed it dead on !!!

  • Why would doctors leave their secure jobs and enter the crap job market while having to pay off school bills? I would stay and take a pay cut because then I would still HAVE INCOME.

Besides, private insurance screwed over my family. My grandma had the same insurance for 10 years and charged them only for check-ups. Then she got stomach cancer and the insurance said it was PRE-EXISTING. They do that all the time and unless they reform themselves, the public option will run them out of business.

  • No one is speaking about new doctors or nurses still who have medical school bills to pay back. We are talking about specialists and long-time medical staff who have years of service and have paid off their loans. These are people who are financially set and don't need the added headaches of more bureaucratic red tape as well as listening to patients who have true needs and the doctor's hands are tied by Obama and the feds who are on tight money constraints!

  • I truly am sorry that your grandmother faced such crooked insurance racketeers. But is that any reason to throw out the bath water, the bath tub and the house just because the baby got scalded by the hot water?

Yes there needs to be reform - but this is not reform! Ovomit wants to completely DESTROY private health care coverage for all. Examine Page 16 of the Health Care Reform Act and you'll find the evidence there. Have YOU read it? I have!

  • Obama's speech in Chicago was fire and brimstone. He sounded like Chicken Little, saying the sky was falling if we dont "reform" healthcare. What was most concerning was him saying if "you" dont reform healthcare, then the healthcare industry will go the way of GM.Did you catch that?Sign on to my reform now, or I will force you to take whatever I choose later on. Do it my way or my way.
