Shawn, I will never understand why your not more popular than you already are. You've taught me the TRUE mechanics and fundamentals of this game..and I'm only 15. It's a little more difficult for me because I'm not full developed in growth and muscles etc... but it works definitely. Thanks alot, please continue to make great videos!
Shawn, i love this power step dhrill. I can hit the ball solidly with this dhrill. Actually much better than with the regular swing. The surprising things are the club head speed is 4-5mph faster, distance is 5-10Y longer for 6I and club face impact is much more solid. The feeling is so great.
One minor problem, I can't seem to be able to translate this into my normal swing. I will continue to swing with the power step dhrill for the winter until I can merge this into my normal swing.
not sure if this is the right video to make this comment. obviously sean foley getting alot of attention at the pga. you have mentioned an article regarding hunter mahan. i do notice foley talking about leaving alot of weight on the front foot during the backswing. almost like a stack and tilt. any thoughts??
I have done these drills and the one legged drill and they work great. I have actaully used the one legged drill in a tournament whereI wanted to hit a long drive but not redline my backswing. I hit it perfect!!!
Very helpful. These drills bring a different perspective to the swing sequence. The simile of feeling as if one is stepping into their left foot really touched base with me and my tendencies in my golf swing. Presenting new ways of a feeling a certain move can really connect a player with the ideal feeling and lead them closer to a better golf swing. This was the first video of yours that I watched, and I have to say I am pleased!
I hit the ball tremendously well with the first drill. I know it's a drill. But is it a legal golf swing? I'm thinking that if I am hitting the ball so well with it, why can't I take it for a couple of practice rounds at the local course? Just to ingrain it into my swing
i've started doin something like this in my full swing. i step on my right foot to start my takeaway and step on my left foot to start my downswing, very similar to what you do in the second drill. working very well right now!
hi Shawn, I have been trying to figure out the right timing of these drills. you have been talking about start stepping when the arms pass the right knee during the back swing.. my question is, should the 'planting' happen right after the wrist cocks in the back swing?
It certainly looks this way by the way you demonstrate it.
As your hands pass the knee on the backswing, you should be almost fully turned in the hips and shoulders (See takeaway vid from shawnclementgolf dot com website) this allows the left heel to START lifting; as the turn finishes and the arms get to past the waist and the wrists start to hinge, the heel is up (but ball of foot still on ground) and is getting ready to plant; and as the arms near the top and the wrists are now fully hinged the heel plants...
great drills.. i tried those out on the range.. the results are WOW.. i'd been able to hit the ball much further than before.. i can now hit my 9i n 7i longer.. my 7i now goes 170yds.. consistently.. however.. something strange did happen.. i cant hit my driver further than 180..!!! what seems to be the problem here..?? golf is so funny.. lol.. hope u can help me out.. thanks..
Shawn, could you please help me or direct me into the right direction to get rid of pulled shots. It seems that I am pulling shots with every club except the driver and fairway woods.
Oops!!! What meant say was that my back feels like it's facing the target in the downswing. I don't know if it right, but man I feel can get that golf club through with so much speed and the shots looks real good too.
Shawn, I was swatting golf balls today at the local driving range--hitting them pretty darn good too. Especially now since I've know how to get arms levitated in the backswing. However, I do find that I can swat the tar out the ball when I feel that my back is still facing the target in the backswing. My question is, is this what I should be feeling?
Thanks for all the video's throughout the year. My golf game has gone backwards but that's no reflection on your instruction. lol. Merry xmas, happy holidays and hopefully see more of you in 2008.
The one that gives you the biggest sensation of "arms floating" in the backswing as you are stepping into it; the one starting with feet together generally produces a bigger and more centered turn in the backswing;
I enjoy both as well! I am glad you are doing well with them as this is an indication that your swing is maturing properly; I look forward to seeing it on video! Shawn

As with all the drills... these drills are great. My only issue, still, is getting this to translate to a normal swing. Any drills for that? ;-)

Of course it is legal and conforming! A lot of fun to do on the golf course; you could make a bit of money on it too!

hi Shawn, do you have any 'unpower' drills for pitch shots?
my full swing iron shots are clicking well, thanks to these power drills, but my pitch shots are still suffering :)
thx.

Yes! Check out the "short Game" and the "40 to 60 yard pitch shots" and the "Arms Falling" and "Get some Lag" videos!

never mind, I found the cure. I wasn't planting my left foot on the downswing.

This is EXACTLY what it should feel like!
Way to go! This is the feel that these drills are supposed to get you to;
As long as you feel that you are squatting the pressure into the left ankle with pressure coming from the left hip you are golden;
Keep it up! Shawn

Shawn,
I was curious if I could use these with drivers as well as irons. Or if you could refer me to one of your videos with driver swings, thank you!

Thanks very much;
More often than not, you have to take one step back to take 2 steps forward! Really Really!
I know you will find the feel, and when you do it will be great!
All the best to you too; Shawn

Shawn,
I can do the drill either way with solid ball contact, stepping forward produces a litle draw and lower ball flight. Which is your preference?

Shawn,
Marketing suggestion: you probably should change you youtube profile website link from web(dot)shawnclementgolf(dot)com
to
web(dot)web(dot)mac(dot)com/shawnclement
And the red text is hard to read in you video

This darn domain name change is almost over and I will be able to use shawn clement golf again;
By the way, I was just about to contact you to tell you that these drills are what you want to practice for a while;
