Republicans want lower taxes but what 9 national sales tax means every product will be taxed by an average of 17 percent then and products that go though multiple steps and sales in its creation will be taxed for every part driving up the prices on things too high. Maybe we just need to spend the money we have on more effective programs, instead of wars and companies with lobbyiest. Making good American products is the key even if we need government programs to do this.

There are 311 million people or so in the U.S. and roughly 675,000 of those are doctors or doing their residency. Now add in 2 million people in the healthcare field. so, 311 million, plus 650,000, plus 2 million= under 320 million. Santorum claims in God given rights to everyone, then says that sexuality in the military should be hidden, not prosecuted, but then he turns and says that we should go back to the very prosecution of those who, myself included, can serve openly now. We aren't taking it into the workplace, but if I am out and about with my boyfriend, I can't get kicked out. I'm proudly Republican, military and bisexual. Return of DADT will do more harm than repealing it, which did NO harm.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that every GOP candidate on that stage, except for Dr. Ron Paul, continuously makes "Promises" of what he/she is gonna do if we are stupid enough to elect them. They, the "status quo", never keep any of the many promises they make during their campaign run! So why do we keep believing them? If they can't keep their promises they make to the citizens of this nation how can we expect them to keep their promise to the oath of office they take? YOU CANT!

@dstory69 Well that's probably true for every politician, isn't it? But we as voters continue to elect and reelect officials without holding them accountable to their campaign promises. So if you want to really isolate whose fault it is, it'd have to be the majority of the voting population.

I'm not going to wait to find out...I think 4 years is long enough to fix things or even get the ball rolling. If the current president hasn't done it yet, it's time to find someone who can. I think Obama has good intentions for the country and he just wants to make the people happy. I think he is a really great guy and all but he just doesn't have what it takes to be the president and make the "change" he talked about.

I really hope everyone noticed how Perry & Fox acted during this debate. Rick Perry absolutely humiliated himself yet Fox news said immediately after the debate that Perry and Romney were the obvious frontrunners. I hope everyone can tell who the real front runners are and who really did well. Romney pitched his book, Bachman was boring, Cain connected well with audience, Johnson told a joke, Sotoro and Gingrich showed up, Huntsman seemed electable, and Paul got the biggest cheers. Ron Paul!!!

@GrimUnderworld1 The Constitution grants Congress the power to establish post roads, so the comparison isn't even close. The Elastic Clause doesn't give Congress the power to spend money on whatever it wants. It gives Congress the power to enact laws that are necessary and proper for the execution of the powers they are given. If the Constitution doesn't grant the federal government a power then it doesn't have it, per the 10th Amendment.
