the shuffle is great. I love mine, just put the songs in order in some way and youll eventually remember. I just shuffle through mine and I pretty much know where most of my songs are because I know the last song on the ipod and the starting song inbetween is easy. Shuffling makes it easier to find songs instead of going through periodically until you remember what song it was near.

There are much better alternatives.

For example a sansa clip.

Same size. Has a display. Has radio. Has same sound quality (some say better actually). Radio. Microphone. Longer battery time, and more. Uses normal mini-usb. And it cost half of a shuffle!

I have one! they are really good and small,so you can carry them along where ever you go. There is lots of colours to chose from and the earplugs are comfy. You can doownload at least like 200 to almost 300 tunes on my Ipod! I think it´s really good!

Hallo every one!!!! After installing itunes version 9. I plugged my shuffle 2nd gen into the port but it froze when I tried to sync, the shuffle had previously been working fine with itunes 8. I disconnected and reconnected and itunes prompted a restore. After completing all the trouble shooting steps on the apple website the problem was still not fixed. Also installed reset utility, it did not work. PLZ HELP

I bought mine about a year ago, it is the cutest thing ever. its extra small which makes it easy to carry around, i loved it until i bought my Ipod touch-which is goddess compared to this cute thing! Shuffle is $49.99 at best buy, which is great price because you never lose it cze it has a clip and because IT NEVER BREAKS..I've droped mine more than a zillion times, and shit!! it is a strong little baby!

problems with shuffle are that you have to go through lots of songs until you find the one you want, which is really annoying. Then the shuffle is really easy to lose - i've lost mine several times. Apart from that, fairly good.

I got this a couple months ago, its okay I like it, but sometimes its annoying not being able to select songs and you cant put your favourite song on repeat. If you have the money I go 4 the nano cause you can do so much more with it. I got mine for £31 (equivalent of $50) I think that price is right, nano is more than 3 times that.

This was the best Shuffle by far. What Apple replaced it with just sucks big time.

The new Shuffle has a DRM chip in the earbuds lead, to slop anyone using other better sounding non Apple earbuds or headphones with it.

I personally prefer the iPod shuffle over any other Apple mp3 music player, partly due to its practicality. The one I have now, I have had almost a year now (mint green 2 GB shuffle), and I know it's one of the best products (music-wise) that Apple has developed. I have both the 3rd and 4th generation iPod Nanos too, but there's something about the Shuffle...only in America would you find a music player that costs less but the battery lasts 11 hours longer than a music player that is $200!

if you don't need the screen, and the 1 gig is not too small for you, thats fairly enough, but remember, you can't select your song, just pushing the next button until you get there. if you would like to watch videos too, buy the nano.

This iPod is perfect for what it's made for:  people with active lifestyles. Why would you want to take a Touch or Nano if all you're going to do is run 5 miles, go to spin class, or a skate session? Everything inside the Shuffle is prime real estate. That's why all the I/O goes thru that 3.5mm jack otherwise a mini usb will take up valuable space and the unit would be bigger. So that was smart on Apple's part. The End
