lifting things is harder than pushing things, because newton second law says that if you lift things you have to carry the entire weight of the thing, while if you push you are against friction, when we are talking about a biological being, the thing that makes the power or force are the muscles if your muscles are well developed you can lift things even heavier than yourself, in the case of iron man the muscles are their hydraulic power and the arc reactor which provides massive energy.
@champignones Did you get a pass in your secondary school physics? I doubt it. Newton's second law doesn't say what you've said. That may be your elaboration or try to explain something, but what you 've said, "when you lift things you have to carry the entire weight" is just common sense, you don't need to call Newton up from his grave yard lol.
@hellobil you didnt got what i said, because i misunderstood what the guy said and so do you, you clearly dont got it either. i thought he meant the car couldnt move and thats it, i was discussing another thing, i just try to put it in the simplest way possible, so stop responding stupid messages anymore theres nothing to discuss about.
when you talk about force and newton laws, you do not only consider the weight of the superhero, you have to consider their muscular power as well, as to the recoil thing that happens in third law, that depend of the system itslef, if i push you and you have wheels, there is no reaction in the x axis, unless you are glued to the floor, the same with pushing somebody, yes doomsday would make superman to move a little backward but if you offer resistance from your muscles, you wont go back much.
the mark V suit uses the arc reactor as energy therefore, iron man posses a very big strenght and stamina, he can lift things heavier than himself, because this and i imagine the hidraulic power this machine has. so he can move the car, didnt u see iron man 1when he talks about the energy capacity of one of the rudimentary arc reactor he has, and besides the car has wheels, that reduces the resistance of movement itself.
The suit will push legs parts in the opposite position to make it happen. This might sound really unprofessional talk cuz I lack of English scientific definitions eng is not my first langu. I wish I have some kind of animation to be clearer
I don't wanna sound asshole but wtf is wrong with every one. He can kick the car cuz the suit is working like hydraulic arm which can lift twice the size and weight of it.in case you haven't notice his other foot is on the ground which give him enough strength to do the job
@themazeful According to Newton's 3rd law, when there is an action, there is a reaction force, and Force = Mass x Acceleration. Unless Mark V weight more than the car, otherwise kicking the car out can't happen. In real physical world, no matter how powerful the suit is, when he try to kick the car out, the Mark V will only be bounds back, where the car will hardly move a bit.
@hellobil HEY!!!! Look, finally someone his isn't another internet retard. Congrats - you actually understand physics instead of spouting off some crap incorrectly. Good job, Hellobil. You get the prize for the day. Now can all these mother fuckers go home and relax - that's the question.
Not to be a geek-nit-pick, but the fact that Tony was able to pick up the suit means it's probably around 80lbs tops. Which means that his combined weight could only be maybe 250, MAYBE. So, he couldn't have kicked that car out of the weigh - he'd just fly backwards himself like a duffus. Physics!!!!!
@EJNewbury Its possible there are Repulsors in the feet just like in the other Suits, we just may not have seen the 'exhaust' or 'shockwave' as seen from the Mk 3 in the first movie
@nemesisprime6901 Sorry, but you misunderstood. I'm not saying that the suit doesn't have the capability of pushing the car either through strength or 'repulsors' - whatever. I'm saying it's a typical problem in physics when dealing with superheros. For instance: Superman weighs 250lbs and throws doomsday who weighs 1000lbs for 100 feet. Now, Superman would fly BACKWARDS for 400feet because energy is conserved (Newton's law). So basically, Iron Man kicks a car 30 feet at 3000lbs = OOPSS!!!!
@EJNewbury no, because the suit uses the massive amount of energy from the arc reactor, that and i imagine the hidraulic power can make him lift very heavy things , including cars etc. its not just how much you weight is also the muscular power you have, thats why NFL heavy players run even faster than a NORMAL guy, their muscles make him fast as hell, but if a guy posses the same muscular power than him and weights less, then he will be fastar because of newtons laws.
@champignones Dude, you need to relax a bit. You're obviously not a physicist. Listen, this is simple shit. If he weighs only 250 pounds and kicks something that weighs 2000 pounds for 100 feet. He WILL have a backward motion of 800 feet. Now, relax, it's a movie. If you really think this stuff can happen, seek help. Stop blowing up everyone's inbox with your specious physics rant. Even though the Trailer for Avengers shows Mark VI though the director says he may sport a new one. The Avengers movie is coming out in May, thats not summer.

Even though the Trailer for Avengers shows Mark VI though the director says he may sport a new one. The Avengers movie is coming out in May, thats not summer.
@thedoctor10and11 May IS Summer on for the movie industry purposes, school is out by the first or second week in May usually for almost everyone, therefore it is the best time to start putting out "Summer Blockbusters". On a related note, when school is out you don't call it "Spring Break" which ironically often happens during winter in northern climates (Feb/Mar), you call it "Summer Vacation" even though it starts in the Spring technically...
You know...if I was Tony Stark aka Ironman's assistant, I'd carry a gun. And if someone attacked my boss (and said boss was losing), I'd shoot the bastard (who is not wearing a helmet and is completely vulnerable) while he is distracted (aka murdering my boss).
Pepper, you're one of my favorite female characters. Get a gun.
Within the combic books Mr Starks earlier suit versions contained offensive/defense technology present at the time of the character's inception, circa 1950-1960 primarly liquid fuel rocket-boots, drills, small arms fire, Radio-control, etc. Also present were theoretical technology such as force fields, proton beam cannons, powerful manipulative electromagments, etc. But as early as the Mk II all were capable of folding flat for portability. In the Film Repulsor technology is theoretical as well:
Percussive violent air vortexes can be generated along different mediums of radiation, photon activity, and general thermal ignition of the elements that make up the air we breath: Oxygen, Nitrogen, Cabon-Dioxide/Monoxide, etc. However, these actions in combination would have to be very high-powered to be effective. Many modern high-powered lasers utilized measures of gas to generate significant output and Plasma is a gaseos/liquid high-energy state commonly found in extreme thermal conditions.
This version of the suit is meant to be a convenient mobile platform much like a pistol is akin to an assault rifle. Reduction in weight, features, and components left only systems utilizing a singular power source, which is conventiently placed inside Mr. Stark's body. Alloys making up the Armor could still be heavily resistant to firearms, explosives, impact weapons; chemical/biological weaponry if it is environment-sealed. The light weight of the suit is also a testament to its ingenuity.
The automated extension of the armor across his body requires an interconnected matrix of servo motors to manipulate each component into place, therefore in theory this weblike powered matrix extends across the entire form much like an additional nervous system. Power consumption could be higher/lower from the reactor, but control appears to remain from neural/optical sensors in the headpiece, however features like a filtration system and stand-alone oxygen supply might be absent.
The Mark V is extremely compact and meant to be outfitted very fast. It's basically a downgraded version because the fully-armored versions like the Mark II, III, and IV require heavy machinery and possibly AI assistance to equip. Just take a look at the Mark IV after the final battle against Whiplash, there's some damage, yes, but relatively speaking he got off easy. Mark II or III alone could have just walked in and steamrolled Vanko's ghetto version and plucked out the reactor.
True, but I'm no authority on how theoretical repulsor technology works. I'd say it wouldn't take much concussive force to a human head to knock him out, and I'm sure that Stark has some sort of variable-output option on his energy weapons. He could dial it way down and aim for an ear passageway or something.
He's right because its missing a lot of the major on board features. It is armor that can repel bullets and there are repulsor blasts but that's it. It has no arm mounted missiles, shoulder mounted vulcans, back flaps and feet repulsors for flight and hip flares. It's great for when you need to suit up in a hurry but it is not something you would want to stroll into Iraq wearing.
1- The repulsors are the only weapons. No stealth, subpar range with a dead giveaway firing period.
2- The Armor plating is far thinner than the Mk II, IV and VI. Bullets, missiles and explosions left marks on the MK III but the MK V is nowhere near as durable.
3- It can't fly, making it the slowest of the Iron Man armors.
4- On board equipment are not included, meaning that you can't stop missiles.
@Machdude Maybe i'm taking it out of context a little, but I was talking about Iraq in this reality not within the movie's universe. Thinner plating or not, I think soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan would be thrilled to have something like the Suitcase Armor.
Because they still provide a flashy and decidedly unwieldy form of combat. It's only really useful in a firefight, and then still a walking target. With the thickness of the plates, I doubt it would be able to handle a couple of suicide bombers.
@Machdude My point is, its a hell of a lot better than what we have now...Going back to your original comment, are you suggesting that the Military wouldn't want this sort of technology?
@Machdude Well, it sure beats standard issue armor and weaponry. This is getting slightly ridiculous. What say we stop and just respect each other's opinion?
I'd rather log it as a POV standpoint. You're seeing it for its benefits while I'm seeing it for its downsides. It's not like we disagree on its potential applications, just whether it would be as reliable as we would put it.
@Machdude Well, we don't really know the plate density. Bullets from, say, an AK-47, would probably just scratch the surface. An IED would probably be the only thing he'd worry about.
AK-47? Probably not. But a mounted AA gun? An entirely different thing. There's also the difficulty in escaping mines and explosions which can be pretty nasty even on heavy armor.
Not common stuff but old models may still be lying around. Either way I'm sure they have something other than AKs that can pierce heavy armor or else it would be ridiculous.
Quite frankly...this is the most AWESOME scene of the ENTIRE movie, Tony Stark doning the Mark V suit.
I wish - more than anything - that the director would/could have extended the suit activation scene longer. I want to see more of the crowd's reactions, the incredible awe in their eyes, more angles of the scene as the suit transforms around Tony...so, so much more!
Every time I watch this scene...I feel both goosebumps and a bit cheated.
hows that the mark V? the one he built in the cave was the mark I. The second one was the mark II. and the mark III was the second one painted to gold and red. And the mark IV would be the triangle chest one. you fuckin idiot
@piplup2009 WOW! How much do I not want to ever chat with man who's counting the suits! How geeky is that? Anyway thanks for making "the marks" clear.
@imachinaman mark IV looks like mark III but much sleeker. Mark IV can be seen at the opening scene of Iron Man 2 when Tony does the sky dive to the Stark Expo. Mark V is introduced in this scene when Tony is attacked by Whiplash on the race track. Mark VI is the one with the triangle chest plate. He fabricated the Mark VI armor after he discovered a new element (triangular shaped). He used the Mark VI armor at the climax when he and War Machine battled the drones and Ivan Vanko, Understood?
One last note: What the fuck is wrong with you people? Hydraulics? Mother fuckers, does this shut look like steam-punk to you?

Get a gun.

Will Tony wear a mark VI suit for the Avengers this summer?

@UrkManRocks He'll wear the same suit he wore in iron man 2

Within the combic books Mr Starks earlier suit versions contained offensive/defense technology present at the time of the character's inception, circa 1950-1960 primarly liquid fuel rocket-boots, drills, small arms fire, Radio-control, etc. Also present were theoretical technology such as force fields, proton beam cannons, powerful manipulative electromagments, etc. But as early as the Mk II all were capable of folding flat for portability. In the Film Repulsor technology is theoretical as well:

@Wolfe1661 Where did you get all this information from? It's very interesting, but where :D ?
DavidAProduction 8 months ago
Percussive violent air vortexes can be generated along different mediums of radiation, photon activity, and general thermal ignition of the elements that make up the air we breath: Oxygen, Nitrogen, Cabon-Dioxide/Monoxide, etc. However, these actions in combination would have to be very high-powered to be effective. Many modern high-powered lasers utilized measures of gas to generate significant output and Plasma is a gaseos/liquid high-energy state commonly found in extreme thermal conditions.
Wolfe1661 8 months ago
This version of the suit is meant to be a convenient mobile platform much like a pistol is akin to an assault rifle. Reduction in weight, features, and components left only systems utilizing a singular power source, which is conventiently placed inside Mr. Stark's body. Alloys making up the Armor could still be heavily resistant to firearms, explosives, impact weapons; chemical/biological weaponry if it is environment-sealed. The light weight of the suit is also a testament to its ingenuity.
Wolfe1661 8 months ago
The automated extension of the armor across his body requires an interconnected matrix of servo motors to manipulate each component into place, therefore in theory this weblike powered matrix extends across the entire form much like an additional nervous system. Power consumption could be higher/lower from the reactor, but control appears to remain from neural/optical sensors in the headpiece, however features like a filtration system and stand-alone oxygen supply might be absent.
Wolfe1661 8 months ago
Makes sense why Tony uses his own plane. Trying to explain the suitcase suit and the ark reactor? That would be a total mess.

kenpojujitsu3 9 months ago
Why is he able to throw him around when in the first film it shows his armour being so strong that Iron Man can withstand a tank shell?
MLBC17 9 months ago
@MLBC17
Mark II or III alone could have just walked in and steamrolled Vanko's ghetto version and plucked out the reactor.
dagdamor1 9 months ago
@dagdamor1 I thought the final battle was using the Mark VI not Mark IV.
riicky83 9 months ago
@riicky83
Hm, yeah, putting in the new element in the reactor gave it a bit of an upgrade, among other things, didn't it? Good call.

@MLBC17 in few words ironman`s portable suit (mark v) is not as strong as the other one.

@dagdamor1 And leave Pepper and Harold "Happy" Hogan potentially in the crossfire of an accidental shot or whip lash?
kenpojujitsu3 9 months ago
@kenpojujitsu3
True, but I'm no authority on how theoretical repulsor technology works. I'd say it wouldn't take much concussive force to a human head to knock him out, and I'm sure that Stark has some sort of variable-output option on his energy weapons. He could dial it way down and aim for an ear passageway or something.

@twilightevans I heard from my friend that the Mark V is some kind of backup suit, for emergency purposes, and not for combat.
3931Kong 11 months ago
He's right because its missing a lot of the major on board features. It is armor that can repel bullets and there are repulsor blasts but that's it. It has no arm mounted missiles, shoulder mounted vulcans, back flaps and feet repulsors for flight and hip flares. It's great for when you need to suit up in a hurry but it is not something you would want to stroll into Iraq wearing.
Machdude 11 months ago 38
@Machdude But it's still awesome :)
9solar9 7 months ago
@Machdude Ummm... why wouldn't you want to stroll into Iraq with a bullet/shrapnel resistant suit with repulsors in the gloves?
HiIeric117 7 months ago
1- The repulsors are the only weapons. No stealth, subpar range with a dead giveaway firing period.
2- The Armor plating is far thinner than the Mk II, IV and VI. Bullets, missiles and explosions left marks on the MK III but the MK V is nowhere near as durable.
3- It can't fly, making it the slowest of the Iron Man armors.
4- On board equipment are not included, meaning that you can't stop missiles.
Machdude 7 months ago
@Machdude Maybe i'm taking it out of context a little, but I was talking about Iraq in this reality not within the movie's universe. Thinner plating or not, I think soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan would be thrilled to have something like the Suitcase Armor.
HiIeric117 7 months ago
Because they still provide a flashy and decidedly unwieldy form of combat. It's only really useful in a firefight, and then still a walking target. With the thickness of the plates, I doubt it would be able to handle a couple of suicide bombers.
Machdude 7 months ago
@Machdude My point is, its a hell of a lot better than what we have now...Going back to your original comment, are you suggesting that the Military wouldn't want this sort of technology?
HiIeric117 7 months ago
As a an alternative armament or as a tactical weapon, yes. But for frontline soldiers? Not with that little.
Machdude 7 months ago
@Machdude Well, it sure beats standard issue armor and weaponry. This is getting slightly ridiculous. What say we stop and just respect each other's opinion?
HiIeric117 7 months ago
I'd rather log it as a POV standpoint. You're seeing it for its benefits while I'm seeing it for its downsides. It's not like we disagree on its potential applications, just whether it would be as reliable as we would put it.
Machdude 7 months ago
@Machdude No, I'm pretty sure you could stroll into Iraq with that. Sure beats wearing a sundress.
inamerica55585 6 months ago
No repulsors in an armor that is essentially a walking target. Draws gunfire like crazy and with the plate density, it isn't going to last long.
Machdude 6 months ago
@Machdude Well, we don't really know the plate density. Bullets from, say, an AK-47, would probably just scratch the surface. An IED would probably be the only thing he'd worry about.
inamerica55585 6 months ago
AK-47? Probably not. But a mounted AA gun? An entirely different thing. There's also the difficulty in escaping mines and explosions which can be pretty nasty even on heavy armor.
Machdude 6 months ago
@Machdude Insurgents have mounted AA guns? I didn't know they could get their hands on that kind of tech.
inamerica55585 6 months ago
Not common stuff but old models may still be lying around. Either way I'm sure they have something other than AKs that can pierce heavy armor or else it would be ridiculous.
Machdude 6 months ago
Why is Mark V so fragile?
3931Kong 11 months ago
starkformers!
3931Kong 11 months ago
Quite frankly...this is the most AWESOME scene of the ENTIRE movie, Tony Stark doning the Mark V suit.
I wish - more than anything - that the director would/could have extended the suit activation scene longer. I want to see more of the crowd's reactions, the incredible awe in their eyes, more angles of the scene as the suit transforms around Tony...so, so much more!
Every time I watch this scene...I feel both goosebumps and a bit cheated.
dinoSnake1 1 year ago
hows that the mark V? the one he built in the cave was the mark I. The second one was the mark II. and the mark III was the second one painted to gold and red. And the mark IV would be the triangle chest one. you fuckin idiot
imachinaman 1 year ago
@imachinaman actually there was that black one in tonys suit display so technically this is the mark V
MellowSquash 1 year ago
@imachinaman
mark I = cave
mark II = chrome (later stolen by james rhodey and modified into the war machine suit)
mark III = used to fight iron monger (heavily damaged at the end of the first movie)
mark IV = his suit used in the stark expo (main differences are on the chest and legs)
mark V = "suit"case
mark VI = triangle arc suit
piplup2009 1 year ago 38
@piplup2009 WOW! How much do I not want to ever chat with man who's counting the suits! How geeky is that? Anyway thanks for making "the marks" clear.
S0RREN 6 months ago
@imachinaman you dip.
mark 2 would be the silver prototype he had icing problems with.
mark 3 was the first painted gold and red one
mark 4 is the suit introduced in the second movie, which he did the sky dive in.
the video above is the mark V
and then he discovered the new element, and built a new one with the triangle chest plate, which was the Mark VI.
If you have a problem with the naming, feel free to contact Marvel since they created these movies, and hold the copyright name to Iron Man.
PismoLord 1 year ago
@imachinaman mark IV looks like mark III but much sleeker. Mark IV can be seen at the opening scene of Iron Man 2 when Tony does the sky dive to the Stark Expo. Mark V is introduced in this scene when Tony is attacked by Whiplash on the race track. Mark VI is the one with the triangle chest plate. He fabricated the Mark VI armor after he discovered a new element (triangular shaped). He used the Mark VI armor at the climax when he and War Machine battled the drones and Ivan Vanko, Understood?
Dayreel 11 months ago
@Dayreel He made 6 suits. This guy really is a goddamned genius.
3931Kong 11 months ago
@3931Kong yup, and he'll probably make 3 more suits in Iron Man 3
Dayreel 11 months ago
@imachinaman
Mark I - (Scrap)Created by Tony and Yinsen in Afganistan to escape
Mark II - (Silver)Created by Tony for flight but cannot do well in weapons
Mark III - (Hotrod) Battled Iron Monger but damaged after he defeat him
Mark IV - A substitute for the Mark III armor
Mark V - (Red & Silver) Used for portability (probably the weakest one in the second movie) looks like the Silver Centurion
Mark VI - looks like the Extremis ,(triangle arc) used to fight Whiplash Mk II
