  • 1) Slide the hold button button to hold position (red showing) and back

    2) hold down the center button and play/pause on the ring until it goes into "Disk Mode" (you may have to try this a few times -- it seems to work better in the beginning of the loop).

Now you can connect back up to your computer and do a restore your factory settings (which gives you a perfectly workable iPod with no content).

  • im stuck with the unreparable case of the sad ipod

  • thats very "restore" -able actually.

  • it was used on a mac and it needs the same computer, my uncle gave it to me so i cant format it, it needs to be formatted to be restored

  • what? i thought that first it's stop motion. I can't hear any voice here. are you sure that update the ipod? i have the same problem alll the time. so i changed to other mp3 player which is P3 has excellent technology such as none necessary convert file. you should try this. it won't betrayed you.

  • well if it doesnt function give it to me ,lol

  • there is no such thing as software failure using ipod the worst thing could happen is lost your data how to fix it easy!(except for hardware failure which is rarely happen) try to upload the new firmware and you can even download hem for free....all you got todo is try!

  • try this next time instead of sending it to apple just right click on the ipod volume drive and click format and it completely erases everything on your ipod and then try to update again and u shouldn't have a problem

  • i updated yesterday my ipods doin the same but it freezes at the aple logo ive tried disk mode but no luck

  • @jerome70743 i know thats whats happening to mine , have you fixed it yet??

  • oh ive seen this. . . . i had a customer with the same problem.

we sent it to apple and they replaced it for a new ipod, they said it was a harddrive problem. . .

  • well i have an ipod and what i did was i opened it up which i dont recommend try searching open ipod on youtube then disconnecting the battery the cord in the bottom corner usually next to the usb connection thing, then putting it back with which typically resets the ipod. it worked for me give me a comment back if it does for you there is no harm in trying

  • I have smaller problems, like album art not displaying, but I agree! They are doing this on purpose to make us upgrade. "Welcome to the Apple Community"...

  • I think that apple does that on purpose to make people upgrade to their new products. The same thing happened to me and my first gen ipod nano.

  • @3960628 my ipod nano 1g is fine

  • its normal. this happens alot with firmware issues, put youre ipod into disk mode, make sure you have all youre songs on youre itunes library, and u have to reboot. it should work.

  • that happen to me and i sent it to apple but they didn't want to fix it :[

  • bastard!

    don't happened to me. =p

    rsrs

    idiot

  • the same thing happend to my 80 GB

  • u can fix it by hooking it up to the comp and as it resets u press the action button and the pause play button and the comp reconizes it.then just resore it

  • fukin hate ipods, except for the touch. That thing is all i need in a computer, but its handheld. ( im a mac fan, so i dont rele do much but internet and music)

  • ZUNE KICKS ASS! Ipod SUX NUTS!

  • apple dose this on purpos so people buy more new ipods

  • that makes scence. its just that if u go to the apple store and give it in, they will give u a brand new one right away at no charcg what so ever! and it s no apple, its the harddrive. which is not made by apple but toshiba

  • It makes SENSE, anyway.

  • you have a dirty ipod.. lol

  • ahah yeah, looks like it still has the plastic cover over the screen and all.

  • omg all u got to do is hold center button and menu button for 10 secs

  • ya that restarts it but its restarting itself...

  • go to the fuckin apple store and they will give u a new one for free

  • ur hard drive is cracked same thing happened 2 me

  • me 2. its not apples fault though, its toshiba which makes the hard drive. it would always happen to me so i just got an iphone (no harddrive!!!)

  • Lol don't blame toshiba. Toshiba make real computers, apple make bad ones. Apples Mac compatibility is shit anyway so I can see there might be a compatibility issue with the ipod and the toshiba hdd.

  • if i were you id download ipod wizard and reload original firmware that should work

  • why not just go to the apple store, give that one in and get a new one for free.

  • because its a lot easier to do it by restoration no need to make a trip the ipods not broken

  • thats true. but sometimes the prob can gbe so severe that the computer wont even detect the ipod.

  • happened to me

  • your ipod is very slow man

  • can an iPod go wireless for podcasts?

  • a classic or video cant but a touch might be able to

  • mine did the same thing and still does it sucks

  • that sucks

  • please anybody can answer my question about my ipod 80g 5.5. I would like to know if i can put my videos and tracks on my hard disc without using itunes if yes how do we that?

  • I won A iPod Touch!!

I am using it right now too

  • howd u win it?

  • He probably stole it

  • lol

  • he stole it from his lil sister

  • stealing it does not mean u really won it

  • With that update thingo, I was gonna try it, but I thought it might stuff up my iPod video (i have the same one). So i just relised not to use it. Thanks.

  • What's Your Point

  • THAT HAPPENED TO MY BROTHERS TOO!!!

  • ipods quality is really good ... xD

  • i give you 100 for it

  • What's the point in that?

  • omg what have u done with ur ipod ? just plug it and clik on restor...

  • plug it in like as if your gonna charg it then open itunes and click your ipod and then click on restor. this will restor your ipod to the factory settings.

  • good video, really captivating. I was on the edge of my seat all the way through.

  • rofl

  • press menu and the middle button until that screen disspears if that doesnt work than press the middle button and the play button. it happend to me and my friend and this tip worked

  • u dont care ur iPod...lol

  • you should be careful with your thing next time. look at your ipod. its scratched and worn off. just saying...

  • having the ipod scartched a little bit has nothing to do with the fact that the update ,essed up the ipod and thats normal wear after awhileon the weel its not cause he didnt take care of it

  • Go Back To The Original Setting During The Update And Do

    The Udate Again.

  • lol lol ipod suck just listen to the radio or internet radio its free fuck that shit <><

  • just because the ipod dont have the proper update sucks?? are you retarded or what

  • stfu or gtfo cause my time is much to preciouse to unsult you thoroughly

  • I use a mac. music wouldn't play. I couldn't get it to do anything other than this. I did a full reset and half way through loading back all the songs it started doing this even while plugged in. I took it to Apple and they said it was a failing hard drive. I paid $30 for a replacement unit, and they gave me a brand new one. I didn't try the new 60GB replacement...i'm selling that one and bought a new 80GB video. that one works fine now.

  • i reccomend you get a zen. they dont rebbot themsleves constantly/! lol

  • what is a zen? and reboots constantly because he didnt update the ipod if you update it works perfectly

  • Apple have really fucked things up. I'm having all sorts of problems with my 30GB Video iPod. Everything was working just fine until I downloaded version 7, now nothing related to iTunes works. I've tried everything Apple say, and even the update for version 7 that supposedly fixes these things still doesn't work.

  • i really dont like Ipods that much =\ itunes annoys me really badly, i hate having a middle man to convert and load it. i prefer sansa xP

  • if you still have your warrenty then send it in for a new one! :)

  • do you use a pc or a mac?

  • I fully reset it after this to see if that would help. Now it still does this while it's plugged in, so I can't even load all my songs back on it.

  • Sometimes when an iPOD resets itself, it acts like that, does all your media content play ok?

  • grhh :S :SSS
