Im considering joining either westwood online for animation or game art and design. Any recomendations??

The animation curriculum covers a broad spectrum - graphic design, 3D modeling, illustration, game design etc. Game art and design is more specialized. If you have a strong interest and want to specialize in video games than I would say to go for game art and design.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess what I really want to specialize in is 3d modeling/animation, flash design/flash game design, and some minor programming in actionscipt and php/mysql. Im not really interested im doing actual 3d game design, im more interested in 2d flash design. Multimedia design like websites and video/special effects would be good too.

So does game art and design still seem to be the way to go?

Well the animation curriculum is always changing. I remember re-taking a game design class (I withdrew from the class) and it was different the second time around. The first time we were doing flash and actionscript, the next time we were working with the Unreal tournament engine designing maps. So you might want to check the curriculum with Westwood's site to see it's for you. Yes, we used Flash.. A LOT from different courses - as well as Maya and 3Ds Max - VERY HARD TO LEARN!!

Be forewarned.. this school is EXPENSIVE.  Any kind of financial aid will help..
