It's not simply advertisements, it's that Bill specifically didn't like the corporate media culture that is interwoven with product placement to feed this constant consumption craze that is used to replace real values for values created in corporate board rooms. Bill talked about values, about ideas that matter for humanity and peace among people. The tv makes people stupid by making them believe in shit that isn't reality and then when they're confronted with reality, they can't deal with it.
