@Streichwurstable So, I take it you're a Fox News viewer that was offended, but just couldn't articulate a grammatically correct sentence that made sense?
FOX viewers are defunct humans. The result is not at all surprising. They aren't just misinformed, they are actively hostile to facts. Reason itself is a threat to their house of cards. Admitting a single fact that contradicts their carefully constructed delusions would cause the whole thing to collapse and would likely result in an uptick in suicide.
Yes, yes...of COURSE you will...because you ARE a 'better person' than me, right sport? And who WOULDN'T wish to turn to a narcissistic ego maniac 'for assistance'...
Lemme guess: You're also 'from the Government, and you're here to help', right?
@artguy42 I'll help you be a better person. Go to google, type in your favorite news channel or program. Then follow that with the word "lies". Hit search. You will instantly become smarter.
@mattkenney I live in Germany and even the people here think there is no dumber series than Fox News. Fox News is the only news channel I know that makes it onto the headline of newspapers around the world because of the constant lies and stupid shit that is told to viewers. Before watching FN on a regular basis I´d rather have Hannibal Lecter carve out my head and then take a shit on it. And even then I would have more brains than the average fox news viewer.
I do wonder though if this is really the fault of Fox News.
It seems to me that people who get all their information from Fox News are very likely to either be too ignorant to understand anything, or simply don't give a shit about what happens outside of America. Not saying Fox News doesn’t misinform, but I am saying that their viewers are probably too stupid to know the difference anyway.
@Hollander113 Not true, the fact that Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch who has admitted he invents news instead of reporting it. It is entertainment, not news. Fox News viewers are constantly the most misinformed because they are paid to help the people like Rupert Murdoch and the Koch Industries brothers avoid paying income tax so they support the Right Wing who thinks that tax cuts and stupid financial policies are a good idea.
People can't be paid to be misinformed. They can be bought to pretend to be misinformed.
And the last time I checked Fox News Viewers where at the bottom of the food chain.
They are being manipulated by people like Rupert Murdoch because they are either simple, or just fundamentally Christian enough to fall for all the God and Jesus propaganda the republicans\Fox News are sprouting. Either way, in my eyes that makes them stupid. Regardless of who owns Fox News.
Fuck me, they are talking about News and you lot have turned it into an argument about religion, yes most Christians dont know the truth about evolution, but Fox News viewers dont know the truth about anything
actually the poll was biased if the viewer did not give the answer they wanted than they considered them mis informed, example they asked what affect will the obama healthcare law have on the economy, according to them its gonna save tons of money. if you thought otherwise you were mis informed. maybe the reason why fox news was lower was because people who watch fox news don't buy into left wing myths.
@rocpet3 Obviously you think anything supported by anyone who doesn't support a Right Wing Propaganda Station is a left wing myth. First, the Obama plan that you talk about is a plan that was written for his state by Mitt Romney with revisions written by John McCain, but since it has flaws that they planned into it, they are trying to spin it as the president's fault. Second, NO ONE said the recovery would be immediate or easy that the BUSH administration, and Republicans in congress created.
Strictly speaking, the Egyptians have not overthrown their government. In fact, for those of us who are actually WATCHING the situation, very little has happened. The leadership has changed but the actual structure of power in the country has not shifted particularly drastically. Progress has been made, but the Egyptians have not "overthrown the gov." by any means.
@SimpVeggie the actual question was "To the best of your knowledge, have the opposition groups protesting in Egypt been successful in bringing down the regime there?" so, in fairness, the tyt were a little misleading. i suppose you could argue as to whether or not dissolving the parliament and the head of a country resigning were really the same as bringing down the regime, or a shift in power as it appears to have been.
I haven't watched anything of the video yet, but I'll make a "psychic" prediction: Fox Viewers in general are by far the most uninformed, unintelligent retards? Was I right, am I a "psychic"? (Of course I'm not a psychic, there's no such thing as a psychic, but I think I'm right about the results anyway. : )
Since you blocked me (for having a different opinion; no insults/vulgarity was used to justify you blocking me), and I know you troll progressive channels just to dislike them, I was just wondering if you still wanna insist that Fox News is the most informative news channel. Thanks in advance
Just before bedtime, I put some sort of news on tv to listen to (one hour on the TV timer) so it puts me to sleep. If I really need to get to sleep quickly I put on FOX news as I think its the crap content of FOX news that does the best job of getting me to sleep.
Politifact has bent itself so out of shape trying to make Republicans and Democrats equal that they have lost their credibility. I used to use them often but now I just go there to see how badly they have done.
Without wanting to seem cruel or arrogant, it seems to me that we have a ‘chicken and egg’ question here: Is it that Fox News is misinforming viewers or are Fox News viewers just less intelligent and informed on average? (I suppose where the chicken/egg analogy fails here is that the answer could be ‘both’.)
@youeatshowieategg I believe a study has been done to show that Fox news does actually a better job of presenting the news than many would think even though it is slanted to 'republican values' so I believe we have to go with the viewer being the problem
@disisdkat Ofcourse, the viewer is the problem, but the fact remains, fox won a case allowing it to lie and distort the truth in the US, and is banned from being aired in Canada and iirc a couple of EU countries because they have "no bs" laws for news.
@MitchofSmeg I did not mean to say that Faux was not a propaganda machine - it certainly is. But they do also report the news and if a viewer were not a 'believer' looking to cherry pick anything to support their existing beliefs they actually could report accurately on what was happening in the world (they would of course have to supplement what they heard on fox with facts they could get other places).
@dorianleakey This is what I remember reading on one of the first studies that said Fox TV watchers knew less that those who views PBS or read a news paper. I know that a study CENTER FOR MEDIA AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS had a similar finding. Again this is NOT the talk shows but the news show and that is the problem. Fox may in fact have one show that reports the news accurately but it is completely washed away by the crazy talk shows that are very clearly biased and very misleading.
so comparing a whole news station to one show? why not compare fox to comedy central? that would make an apples to apples comparison. but trying to find the smartest tv viewer is like trying to find the healthiest person at McDonalds. Every station has an agenda and they all fail to report the news and are not journalists. sadly those are non existent anymore.
It's because the KIND of people who watch FOX News as their primary/exclusive news outlet, generally tend to be ignorant, close-minded, couldn't-give-a-shit-what-anyone-thinks assholes.
PLEASE stop padding your preview images, you're getting views you don't deserve by showing clips you never really show in your videos. I don't click the link to see what you have to say, i click the link to see what the celebrity said on the show they're on.
PEOPLE NEED TO SWITCH PARTIES 12 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE PRIMARIES IN MOST STATES.
IF YOU DO NOT SWITCH IN TIME YOU CANNOT VOTE IN PRIMARY.
IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED REPUBLICAN YOU CANNOT VOTE IN THE PRIMARY.
IF RON PAUL DOES NOT WIN PRIMARY, NO GENERAL ELECTION! REGISTER AS A REPUBLICAN. FIND OUT WHEN YOUR STATE HAS PRIMARIES. FIND OUT WHERE & VOTE VOTE VOTE !!!!! WE NEED EVERY LAST ONE!!!
This is an innacurate poll. Not to say Fox news necessarily is the best news source, one cannot judge a news station based on its viewers. 1. Most people who said they watched Fox news probably don't watch news very often and just said Fox since it's the only one that comes to their mind or just the one that they watch for 5 minutes every few weeks. 2. Fox news is a primarily LOCAL news station, as such, international issues are not it's main focus.
Duh, people who watch Fox don't know anything at all, why would they know about something in another country? They think that the Earth is 6000 yrs old and the Flintstones were a documentary.
@imRyRy Being Christian doesn't mean you're a Young Earth Creationist. Do you have a quote from Obama that shows he is a YEC? I'm sure that if he was, it would be big news; he would lose a lot of votes and alienate lots of the democratic base with such a ridiculous position.
@imRyRy Obama is Christian but only 60% to 76% percent of Americans CLAIM TO BE Christian. The bible was written by an English playwright for King James. 65 percent of the world is NOT CHRISTIAN. Around 19 percent of the world does not believe in religions or mythology of any kind. Most Buddhists and East Asian Religions believe that all religious mythology was written as parabolic and the deities, gods, and creatures in texts were supposed to be an analogy of aspects of our personalities.
What I learned from FOX: me and everyone I know hate America. I thought we were proud and patriotic supporters of this country, but FOX said if I don't support our never ending wars, I hate the troops and America. I've learned so much from FOX. Oh yeah, truth=lie, unjustified murder=patriotism, Herman Cain=Great Leader.
I hate it when people treat polls like they matter, its been proven time and time again that if you can take a group of 100 people an ask them a question, then ask them the same question and just change the words of the question but not the meaning that most will answer differently. To put it simple polls are bullshit.... but I agree most shows on Fox news are bullshit lol
The problem that PolitiFact had with Stewart wasn't that he was lying or anything, but that he used absolutes. Fox News viewers are at or near the bottom on a regular basis. Jon said that they are ALWAYS AT the bottom in EVERY poll. Basically, PolitiFact dinged Stewart because he let his passions get the better of him.
@Gunman610 Actually the real point is that a political fact check group felt the need to fact check a comedian, on a satire show being aired on a comedy station just like they do for news shows on news channels.
Says a lot about the state of our information sources eh?
I loaded this page and before the actual video started, I had to watch an ad about Ron Paul. That is the first and only time I didn't click 'Skip this ad now"
This is a slightly misleading story. Misleading in that Cenk is trying to pin the blame on Fox News itself. While FN certainly has a history of playing with the facts, they don't generally get stories wrong entirely. That is to say, they don't misreport Hosni Mubarak being deposed. Rather the blame is on the FN viewers. Stupid people are far more likely to watch FN than these other programs, and they watch to hear rants against progressives, and tune out when the topic is some other country.
To be fair, part of the problem is not just that Fox News is a load of crap, but that the right wing is, well, generally less educated and less informed that those in the center or on the left.
Although I am sure they can tell you who won the Daytona 500.
Fox news is blocked on my TV. However; I don't get my news from the TV, paper, radio or magazines. For truly unfiltered news the internet is the best place and the government is doing all it can to stop it. They can't have people knowing what's going on.
3:37 They mispeled decrease. Am I awsome or wt xD ye I dint think so either.. :'( Daily show is actually interesting to watch so Its not crazy to me knowing that people retain that info better.
Correlation != causation. As much misinformation Fox News spreads, I feel like this is more easily explained by the fact that Fox News appeals to stupid people. Maybe stupid people don't like learning. That would not surprise me in the least. Maybe if Fox News fired Hannity and his ilk, and actually started trying to educate people, all the stupid people would find a new way to get misinformation (presumably from whatever network Hannity moves to).
It's not necessarily a simple causal relationship. It may be that you have to be stupid in order to watch FOX News and therefore would score worse in anyway.
everyone knows in America that fox is a propaganda machine, now its time for action, WORDS dnt hurt ppl, stand up and fight against them, talking will never make them get away but ur boots will!
I find Cenk's analysis on this topic a little forced. Love Cenk, hate fox, but you really get the impression he is stretching it a bit. This is pretty rare for Cenk though because he usually has a battery of much better information on any given topic. Faux noise lies constantly, and is 90% RW opinion, 95% of which is BS. The remaining 10% is actual news 95% of which is tainted w/ RW BS.
No matter where you get your news these days you have to dig around and do your home work to try and make some kind of sence out of it all.Like'We are no longer at war in Iraq" Or,'Well we are still in Iraq and will reamane there for a long time. And,radiations good for you in high doses,it's thoughs lower one's you have to worry about. The Gulf of Mexico is full of oil.No it's not it gone, eat up,It's better than it was before. So yeah....do your home work.Use some commen sence while your at it.
The sample size for this study was a measly 100 people. I'm not a Fox fan, but this study smells exceptionally fishy to me. I'm not willing to allow confirmation bias to lead me to accept poorly conducted "studies".
@MrUnicorn1995 But seeing how decieptive and misinformed FOX News is, you really don't need a pole of percentages to show that Fox News fails at providing the News to the public and allowing the viewers to make up thier own minds. Fox News isn't "Fair and Balanced" and they brag too much aboutthemselves which isn't appealing anyways.
I love the subtitles, they never catch exactly what Cenk says but that provides me entertainment! As for the polls, lol I could have told you that and I don't even have a working TV! I still manage to figure out most things... in fact, I get great overviews of topics to research further from TYT!
They'd need to do general intelligence tests on each viewer group to tease apart the interpretations "Fox makes people ignorant" vs "ignorant people watch Fox".
@cavalrycome It's probably just a vicious cycle of both. FOX is like a blackhole that sucks in stupid people and makes them even less informed or worse MISinformed.
Sorta turns into a chicken or egg argument then. There is no doubt that Fox News is so useless as a news source that it has little to no informational value, so lets say you're right and they went to Fox stupid, they left just as stupid if not more so. It doesn't matter which one comes first, chicken or egg, because the one will lead to the other, and then lead back to the first.
Hey, if they asked if atheists were trying to destroy Christmas, or if Barak Obama was a secret Muslim aiming to enslave America's Christians, then FOX viewers would have been on the ball!
I have had the complete opposite of experiences with people. I mostly watch CNN but I will watch Fox News and BBC World News quite a bit as well. Fox News will be really biased but they still have plenty of intelligent people that argue and state the points. I usually have to explain to my friends, who watch the Daily Show, what Jon Stewart is actually talking about. This study sounds entirely biased itself. I doubt that an "Open" minded person would learn more from the Daily Show.
@DeepSouth16 what are you, 5? is this really all you can come up with to defend your views in a discussion? just flipping out at people with an incredibly small vocabulary that only seems to consist of "fuck", "faggot" and "shit". why don't you try saying something that makes at least a bit of sense that is relevant to the topic? maybe that way it won't take 4 days for me to find your reply due to it getting flagged, you greasy inbred cunt.
@DeepSouth16 like ron paul, someone who has always voted with his conscious and the constitution, they tell u he's a joke and dont give him any air time and play every dirty trick in the book to stop their campaign. check out the daily show's jon stewart covering how much networks hate covering ron paul (im not a huge daily show fan but he really did justice to the topic showing how networks condition audiences), just type daily show ron paul coverage or something like that.
@DeepSouth16 dont u realize obama was selected and liberal, conservative, democrat, republican are just two sides of the same coin that the elite use to conditioning us into believing that we have a say in matters. we dont. obama gets his marching orders from the same people who bush got his from and who clinton got his from. the true power in this country doesnt put itself on display. they force us to select from their pre determined puppets. and if u try to get a true conservative
@kryptonickraze true, but just like the tea party, elitist groups will try to co-opt it to put their own corrupt messages out there. like michael moore for instance. someone asks him about the federal reserve and he cant even give an answer, just says "capitalism has to go." free markets bring prosperity, unfortunately we dont have free markets and capitalism in america, for instance the war on drugs, which the 10th amendment says ought to be a state issue, not federal.
@ChadWardenTV Yeah, and tea partiers, right wingers, anarchists, socialists.. a whole bunch of people are coming out of the woodwork. What's your point?
Woow hold your horses. Are you telling me that I can be more informed about what's going on in the world by not watching any news at all as opposed to watching Fox News? I knew it. I knew it all along. Faux - the only news that makes you less informed after watching the news than you were before watching them.
FOX news gives people a totally skewed view of America because of all the propaganda, straw men, red herrings, and alarmist garbage. FOX won't even air news stories that are not in it's ideological interests.
@DeepSouth16 My source? no, I have access to my schools database full of peer-reviewed scientific books and journals. Fact by polling, Americans like paying taxes. We like firefighters, we like cops, we like having nice roads, we like having workers fix our power lines, our sewers and we like having a military to defend us. Taxes are amazing, they leverage the power of many to do work one person could never dream of. We just don't like it when our taxes go to waste because of idiot republicans.
@DeepSouth16 Wrong Im not making shit up like you are, google it, google polls and facts. America clearly stands on the progressive sides of all the major issues. I am telling you: mother fucker don't believe me, go see for your self. YOU ARE the minority. Americans like paying taxes, they just like the taxes to be put to good use. This is not an argument go see the facts. How you get internet in the deep south i don't know -_- lol
Mate chill out, Deepsouth16 is a wellknown troll roaming TYT videos who has nothing constructive to contribute and prolonging a debate with him will be like talking with a rock. :P
@underbjorn Hey I love debating with those ppl, It helps to reinforce my beliefs and serves as good practice in weeding out what the opposition thinks like. It's fun for him ti be giving me standard republican conservative talking points and me debunking them. This pertains very closely to my field of study so It only serves to help me that's why I got all the energy and time in the world to keep on trolling on the trolls. :)
I know exactly the feeling mate! I call the U:S far-right clowns trolling, or even worse, are serious about their wacko almost geocentric world view for beating the punching bag.
.
There are so many of them, and you can't know which are serious or trolls, so it becomes a neverending chance at the punching bag.
And indeed it heats up the inner glow of political interest as well, and for university study, just don't spend too much time punching the bag, :P
@TonyFbaby87 but our taxes dont go to good use, they go to overthrowing sovereign countries like libya and bombing innocent people in the countries weve already overthrown. i wish the whole let government run things worked and we could just pool our resources and let eggheads better suited than u or i to manage everything, but it gets bloated and it doesnt work. u cant trust anyone on the top. ever heard of the georgia guidestones? look it up. that is what our leaders believe in.
@DeepSouth16 It is the responsibility of the government. Much easier to give ppl a good education so that they are productive and help out rather than be burdens -like you. You worked for your money? On our roads, using our street lights, in our society, in which if you fuck up we have cops, firefighters and civil rights to keep you safe and productive in the job market, nothing is free jackass pay up or get the fuck out of America, simple as that.
@DeepSouth16 is "go fuck yourself" really the only thing you can think of to say to someone when they call you out? it seems you've told another user to do so already. I'm not gay but the fact you use the word faggot just proves even more that people just like you that watch that horse shit, fox "news" ARE bigots.
@DeepSouth16 Funny, wasn't even aware I was a part of ANY argument here and where the fuck did I throw any race card? yet again, a misinformed, brain dead right winger
@DeepSouth16 You just called me a "faggot" in ur last idiotic half-assed comment to me. Again the irony here is palpable. when you can't win an argument and have nothing worthwhile to say just call everyone a liberal faggot, yeah that will make you look smart. Wake up America is progressive on almost evry topic, from immigration to abortion and the economy, ironically "If ya aint like america git the fuck out!" it dont take kindly to y'all ass-backwards hillbillies.
@DeepSouth16 A flat screen is a luxury? are you fucking stupid? they only make flat screens now, and they are cheap as fuck. What a stupid argument u gave. Minimum wage for minimum skill? no it's minimum wage because our economy is fucked I know adults with MBAs that are working minimum wage jobs thats how fucked our economy is. Also thank republicans for cutting school funds and making it harder to learn skills u selfish fuck. Don't you see republicans are fucking YOU over?
@DeepSouth16 An iphone and flat screen TV are not luxuries any more. They have been subsidized so much that they have been essentially democratized for everyone to afford. A flat screen runs you 300 bucks and an iphone can be had for 99 bucks also. people are in poverty because they lost their jobs, they are students, elderly, or are at minimum wage. Do you think ppl like being in poverty? like it's fun? asshole.. they can't get good jobs or wages! money flows to the rich, capitalism 101.
the daily show isn't really even a proper news show and still it wipes the floor with fox news for entertainment value AND information. fox news is entertaining but it's only because i'm laughing at the bigots and bimbos.
@eternalcrumpet judge napolitano is the only saving grace that network has. and kudos to geraldo rivera for his unbiased interview with architects and engineers for 911 truth. given he used to give truthers the finger and said they enjoy anonymous gay bathroom sex. but their viewership is declining because noone takes them seriously anymore so they're realizing they need to put something real and informative out there if they want to srvve. check out his interview with ae911truth
@shamanik1320 you didn't leave a link for me to see the interview, also i've seen rivera conduct some pretty biased interviews in the past and act like a self righteous cunt. my favourite has got to be that gretchen bitch. she is painfully stupid and bigoted and just completely incapable of seeing another person's point of view, it's hilarious, i get up and have a little dance every time i see she's on the panel
@eternalcrumpet just type geraldo rivera ae911truth, its easy to find. utube wont let me post a link. lol im not saying geraldo is awesome and i always catch his show or that he is usually unbiased. he's usually an ass, he gave truthers the finger and said they enjoyed anonymous gay bathroom sex, but that was like 6 years ago, his recent interview with ae911truth he really let them explain their points and agreed with them at the end so i have to give him kudos for that.

Without wanting to seem cruel or arrogant, it seems to me that we have a ‘chicken and egg’ question here: Is it that Fox News is misinforming viewers or are Fox News viewers just less intelligent and informed on average? (I suppose where the chicken/egg analogy fails here is that the answer could be ‘both’.)
youeatshowieategg 3 weeks ago
@youeatshowieategg I believe a study has been done to show that Fox news does actually a better job of presenting the news than many would think even though it is slanted to 'republican values' so I believe we have to go with the viewer being the problem
disisdkat 3 weeks ago
@disisdkat Ofcourse, the viewer is the problem, but the fact remains, fox won a case allowing it to lie and distort the truth in the US, and is banned from being aired in Canada and iirc a couple of EU countries because they have "no bs" laws for news.
MitchofSmeg 2 weeks ago
@MitchofSmeg I did not mean to say that Faux was not a propaganda machine - it certainly is. But they do also report the news and if a viewer were not a 'believer' looking to cherry pick anything to support their existing beliefs they actually could report accurately on what was happening in the world (they would of course have to supplement what they heard on fox with facts they could get other places).
disisdkat 2 weeks ago
@disisdkat "a study"? Which study? Who funded the study?
dorianleakey 2 weeks ago
@dorianleakey This is what I remember reading on one of the first studies that said Fox TV watchers knew less that those who views PBS or read a news paper. I know that a study CENTER FOR MEDIA AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS had a similar finding. Again this is NOT the talk shows but the news show and that is the problem. Fox may in fact have one show that reports the news accurately but it is completely washed away by the crazy talk shows that are very clearly biased and very misleading.
disisdkat 2 weeks ago
@youeatshowieategg I lean more towards the idea of both, haha

so comparing a whole news station to one show? why not compare fox to comedy central? that would make an apples to apples comparison. but trying to find the smartest tv viewer is like trying to find the healthiest person at McDonalds.

Most Buddhists and East Asian Religions believe that all religious mythology was written as parabolic and the deities, gods, and creatures in texts were supposed to be an analogy of aspects of our personalities.

LogantheLibertarian 1 month ago
The problem that PolitiFact had with Stewart wasn't that he was lying or anything, but that he used absolutes. Fox News viewers are at or near the bottom on a regular basis. Jon said that they are ALWAYS AT the bottom in EVERY poll. Basically, PolitiFact dinged Stewart because he let his passions get the better of him.
