I get my facts from actually LISTENING TO THE MUSIC and READING AND WATCHING INTERVIEWS. Metal and punk may have started as completely separate and opposite types of music, but as early as '77, they have been influencing each other. I don't know what a "straight up metalhead" or a "straight up punk" is. You either are or you aren't. Plenty of down ass punks listen to metal, and plenty of true metalheads thrash to punk.

@mresplendent I only had Stations, Feeding of 5000, and Best Before...they were on cassette...now I only have Stations, rebuilding the iTunes library is nuts...I want my cassette player back...but I don't miss breaking out the pencil and scotch tape and mini screwdrivers to salvage them...I'm in the process of re-living my youth...from so long ago I'm not saying...the ol' memory is a slippin'!

So here I am, right? Listening to this band for the first time. I look at comments expecting so read about how great this band is, any song suggestions, ect. Instead, I find shitty arguments and dumb-fuck comments on here and it's ridiculous. Still a great band, but some of the listeners need to grow up.

Discharge, Slayer, Repulsion, Venom, Motorhead, DRI, The Accused, Cryptic Slaughter, Darkthrone, Amebix, Tank (who had Algy Ward from The Damned), Deviated Instinct, Napalm Death (who came out of the crust punk scene)... There have been countless metal and punk bands influenced by both genres.

I never said there weren't fusions of the two (Venom btw was barely a metal band just coined the term Black Metal) but straight up punks don't like metal and aren't influenced by metal and straight up metal heads don't like punk and aren't influenced by punk.

I get my facts from actually LISTENING TO THE MUSIC and READING AND WATCHING INTERVIEWS. Metal and punk may have started as completely separate and opposite types of music, but as early as '77, they have been influencing each other. I don't know what a "straight up metalhead" or a "straight up punk" is. You either are or you aren't. Plenty of down ass punks listen to metal, and plenty of true metalheads thrash to punk.

"true metal heads" don't like punk because of its simplicity and repetitiveness and "down ass punks" don't like metal because of its technicality and the conformity in the metal scene. And like i said punk came as a rebellion towards music like metal and pop so in 77' when it [punk] all really started to take off, punks were NOT influenced by metal because it was a movement against all the current forms of music. Yes, it's true that many punks shunned metal's often flashy musicianship, but there were also a lot of punks and metalheads who enjoyed both genres and brought elements of them into their music.
