FYI Planes generally fly at speeds above 500 mph. A comp. sized aircraft has a turn rad. of about 2000 ft @ 15deg bank angle (with one engine, so moving slower). The average ht. of a goose is about 12in. in flight. So assuming that you could determine the direction of flight of a flock of geese from a mile away (which is nearly impossible) you would have only about 3 sec. to make a decision on where to go. If you made a correction moving that fast it could be bad. BTW great water landing!

Now you are comparing an American pilot/plane to that of a Kenyan pilot/plane, where they do not have half the regulations we do. 3 major airports within a 10 mile radius, the busiest stretch of airspace in the world and you want the captain of an airbus to move the plane just a little bit at over 500 mph. Its a 200 tonne Plane, not a Fucking Bicycle.

you gotta love it the two only people who got injured were two girls who thought it was a good ideah to jump in the water when it was -4 out side they got hyperthermia. but still that was an amazing bit of flying from the captian so credit where it is due. also the co-pilot gave his shirt to a woman after they landed because she was cold.

that is actually quite amazing to see, that would have taken some serious skill to land in water. imagine what it must have been like to be on that aeroplane, those last moments where you think your going to die, and then you survive...

You are off track, my comment was about the government applying more regulations for airlines for bird resistant/proof engines. Now you are comparing an American pilot/plane to that of a Kenyan pilot/plane, where they do not have half the regulations we do. And as a matter of fact American pilots are trained to land in the water. You can Google it and read all the articles. Or I can send you links to back, that pilots are trained to land in water.

Great. Now the government is going to be all over the airline industry about making better bird proof engines, I find myself not caring the pilot did what he was trained to do and nothing more. Other countries have more airplane crashes than in the US, but NYC is now notorious for 3 plane crashes.

wat! yh we hear so much on it becuase its some news whcih ends in a good way everyone lived, the pilot did a good job, you cant train for a water landing, and if you see the video of the air crash on water in kenya you can see how bad it goes the engins dif into the water and the whole plane falls apart!
