Whatever you think, this is not a stupid guy. He could have left the Leafs at any time but he stayed. He honestly loved his club and he took his role seriously. He hates to lose and never gives up. Pair that with skills on the level of any NHL player and you will see why he will be remembered as one of the greatest. However, he could not do it on his own and I have no idea where he found inspiration season after season to continue.

Wow, after a few years you forget what a rare player Sundin was for us. A 6ft5 center!! with skill like a franchise player and the determination to make plays on his when need be. What a stud!! Can't wait until February when his number is honoured! Well deserved Mats, we miss you!

yeah true, i guess the anahiem trade wasnt bad , but the calgary one was a really bad move because phaneuf isnt playing well and i dont think he will next year either. He got rid of stajan & hagman which was a bad decision.

Also theyre first round pick isnt their anymore so theyre in a really bad position.

ya the trade with calgery was lots of our players but you have to sacrifice to get. and phaneuf is an all star defensment and just in a slump he will get out of it. hagman was doing good wich probeblie was one of the only reasens they did the trade. But Burk realy had to get some defence cause we werre craching 3 goal leads like it was nothing. And I hope Burk gets some help for Kessel that we gave our 1st and 2nd round picks for and more offence.

He was such a great captain. Even when he went to Vancouver we still loved him, even when he beat our own team in the shootout. He will be missed, and the only person i can see becoming the captain is kaberle, that guy has been with us for so long, and does a fantastic job controlling the puck and making great plays

Best player is iffy. Sundin does not have a ring, and many greats from the Leaf's past do. I know its kinda harsh but, without the hardware, he is top 5 at best.
