@jfp521 ok, whatever u think, i went to a brawl tournament to watch some people soon after it came out, and i saw almost no combos (good ones anyway), the professional combos are impossible to do, like the silent spectre combo (U-throw to D-tilt to shorthop D-air to knee of justice), then i was in a melee tournament and there were combos everywhere, a few people even pulled off the silent spectre combo, but ur just a brawl fanboy

I completely disagree with you it is very hard to avoid shines and most pros do use the shine to get quick easy kills. I also agree that shiek is also a cheap character with her tilts but not falcons knee. There is a big difference between the knee and shine. If someone you has even just a little bit of technical skill could get a kill at 20% or less with shine which cannot be done with the knee.

I believe shines are really dumb. In your scenario you said he still has his jump and is falcon, but what if he didn't have his jump then there is no way to recover. Falcon is not the only character in the game, most are not nearly as acrobatic as he is and makes it even harder to get back. And if you say that you kill him 30% of the time with shines he would have learned by now how to recover from them.

Ex: say someone (falcon) is under the stage and hasn't used his jump, and is close enough to the edge to grab on with his jump, wouldn't the proper way to get out of that would to up air after ur jump to hit the fox?

well you see, a shine spike is when you use the shine (fox's down-b) on an opponent to send them downwards, usually disabling them from getting back on the stage.

Melon, in no way are shines gay, that could be said about any popular move in the game...Marth's chain throws (or uthrow->utilt), sheik's tilts, or even falcon's knees...They're all parts of those char's arsenal's to be used to take a stock. More pro fox's use the Uthrow->Uair combo to get a kill than the shine, anyways. that cause he shine can be avoided (for the most part) in SOME way if the opponent knows what to do and when.

hm,Im pretty sure that is not the case, in the least bit...it is DI that will allow someone who gets knocked up to stay alive longer. What fast falling does is that a combo that a falcon can avoid when knocked upwards at 80 will be able to be done on a fox or falco...watch recent GermVSfox/falco matches, almost all of the combos he can pull against them can not be pulled off against other character because of fast fall...

the speed that you fall is determined by your weight, so if you fall really fast you would need like 150% or 180% to actually die, when you do not fall fast, like jigg lets say, you can die at around 70%. So, if you get away from some combos you can live longer.
