what is your capacitor and where did you get it from. i built the whole tesla coil but i cant seem to find any big capacitors. can you help me. My power source for mine is a 12kv 30ma NST
and some high voltage wiring... and an mmc instead of my homemade 80cm long tube cap... and better primary coil and lots of other things. Thanx for commenting
Oh come now, those things are quite difficult to manage. I get by just fine with no MMC and I've used the same crappy primary for 2 coils, reworked and everything.
The little crinkles in the aluminum allow corona to escape and, pardon the pun, "foil" your terminal capacitance... You get much better singular arcs from any sort of anything... like a bowl or something... two bowls together, any solid piece of metal works really...
well to tell you the truth i don't know, i didn't have the equipment to measure it at that time. The input stage though was an ignition coil pulsating at about 7-8Khz
wow, i'm suprised it worked even though you were hitting it in the dark! You can probably increase your spark length by maching primary-secondary frequency. go to deepfriedneon, they have java applets that help a lot.
well i've read all there is about TCs.I just kept fine tuning untill longest spark achieved. And in such a small coil (believe me) a spark is either big or not at all. Math can't take into account the chaotic enviroment we live in... so just make everything adjustable and aim for the best result. That is also one of the reasons i like small and underdriven coils, couse you can actually see what the results are after any change. Thanxs for commenting

you can basicly get an arc off anything its just a matter of if its visable and size

I garuntee, if you use something other than aluminum foil you will get better arcs from the toroid.
Fantastic coil, man.

im making one but find it hard to find exsact resonance so i made all the variables variable to adjust. im might use a mot or fly back to run mine

thats cool what frequency was the tesla running at?
