While this is one of my least favorite songs on the album, I think it is brilliant that they chose to release it first, strictly for audience sake. The song/video are along the lines of what is getting big right now, hence Daniel Powter, Augustana, The Feeling all of those lower-key bands that are somewhat taking over. Kudos Hanson! It's just so frustrating because the song has so much potential and the basic structure is really fine. But it falls way short of being great because it is repetitive, plods on and peters out. A good independent producer would have realized the potential and urged them to mess up their darlings a bit. I'd have thought of a strident syncopated string section halfway or something else by way of a modulation to make it a classic.

I don't know yet what to make of this single and video. After hearing the first bars, I thought it was going to be exciting, but the rest is sort of an anti-climax, just too samey. Zac seems to have at long last found a voice he's really comfortable with, except that it sounds an awful lot like Maroon 5, with the same fast vibrato the end of held notes. I also feel that Maroon writes better songs in this mold. Zac's timing is so awkward at points, it almost throws me.

So I think it's great if it achieve this point, and anyway a good artist always improve in his field, and Hanson have really improve far much more than what we could though since MON and TTA.

Zac taking the lead on a single was a long time coming... I'm glad we finally got here! He's a beautiful songwriter (he co-wrote 'Go') and has a wonderful voice. Now that the band has their own label they've had more freedom - which is one of the reasons we're going to see Zac a little more than we used to. It's about time!

I think having someone else sing lead vocals on the new single is a great idea. It's going to allow the general public (who aren't Hanson fans) to see their versatility. While "Penny and Me" is a great pop song, I think it was time for them to release a ballad first. They're breaking their formula.
