oh yeah i did that and it wasnt as loud as i suspected so i got a 2 1/2 straight pipe with removed catalyzer and resonator with ported oem manifold! try it! it sounds like a bEAST!!!+ i have vids i uploaded and i didnt post a new one of the fully rebuilt 7AFE yet but i will soon..
Basically sounds like a Toyota Corolla with it's muffler cutoff...or maybe a really loud leaf blower? Corollas are for girls...my wife drives one.
