That Edo's backing track is lovely! And playing this song is so joyful! It's a simple (but brilliant) one... but there's a lot of details to work on it.
listen this song HAS to be one of the most subjective songs out there like jimmy's songs you cannot repro them the fact that this kid comes close and even attempts it and is his version but still funky as hell says alot about this guy
WOW. Your room looks just like my living room. It took years and thousands of dollars to get it like that too. I still have to get rid of the couch. I don't need it anymore.
Hello, Do you use the SPC01 card for the funky wah preset or did you send a sysex file on your A3...I 've just bought a A3 and i can't upload the sysex file to it...Could you help me? (i tried with mid-ox programm...
just a query to u or anyone else are all your effects running into that blue controller and what is the name of it and how can i get something similar to this setup?
Who cares where he got all his stuff!!!! Just enjoy the fact that he is awsome !!!! I have been a long time u2 fan and I can honesly say if the edge were to leave the band, this guy would be almost as good as him!!
The deep whoosh comes when you have a hot enough signal. You need to play with it until you get the right amount of gain going into the Korg. Otherwise there is zero whoosh. If you overdo it then you get the opposite, dial it in until it sounds right.
Really enjoyed that Ralgh. Must take you aaaagges to get to that point and it's still not what Edge does. Amazing how much he must practice the sounds. I saw an interview with Bono around ZooTV time where Edge is constantly practicing the opening riff to Zoo Station in the background. For 30mins. Bono's amazed and points it out to the interviewer.
cool performance, even with the "foot dance" by the edge (dont your feet get cold? your videos you never wear socks). im working on a version of this with d.two, lovetone meatball, and analogman tube screamer mod. sounds .. also pretty good, but the meatball is fussy with decay / recharging. will try running it on 12 volts. have the same backing track as you. why dont people make "profi" backing tracks? and not this gear which is strait outta jimmys kareoke bar?! good job BW
I can tell from this video and other live performances i've seen the only way to get it this close to the real thing is by having a Ric 330/12 with VINTAGE "toaster" pickups. Most Rics come with the new High Gain pickups that can't get as jangly like those vintage pickups do. They could get very close with the right effects but it will never be spot on. I know from personal trial and error trying to get a jangly 60's sound out of a Ric with Hi-gains. Anyway, nice gear and VERY well done.
Great reproduction- best I have heard. I have been trying to nail this sound for a long time. I may just have to bite the bullet and buy an A3. Can you tell me- the "wow" sound that the A3 is making, is it time based, or velocity based against how hard you strum? Does the factory patch that this sound comes from require a lot of tweaking or is it pretty much plug and play?
It's pretty much a plug and play preset, it helps to have a 12-string. I think it is both a factor of time and strum, but you can change the settings to shorten or lengthen the time.
Is that Rickenbacker a 12-string? I recall Dallas Schoo saying it was a unique axe but very temperamental when it came to staying in tune, weather, etc.
hey Ralqh, I have two questions. First is: do you think that that unique and very characterist The Fly sound comes from the guitar? Did you try playing the song with your Strat do see if you get a similar sound? And second: What is the function of the Korg A3? I ask this because I'm thinking if I should get one but I don't know exactly what new things it would bring to my sound. My gear usually: Strat or Les Paul + Boss DD-20/Boss SD-1/Cry Baby Wah/Verbzilla + Vox AC-30.
You can hear the difference when you listen to the ZOO TV version and Vertigo Tour version. I can't get this type of sound w/ strat. The A3 is like any other multi-effects processor, it has all sorts of different sounds and effects.
tell me please what´s your equipment. not just the guitars but effects, amp(I´m seeing thats a vox), everything that you think that´s important for a good cover and a good u2 sound.
you have a great equipment(guitars, pedals) and great skills to!!!
i have an epiphone les paul and 3 pedals(2 boss pedals and a wha pedal from dunlop) and i have an zoom amplifier(thats a modeler with effects).
I would like to ear you say what you I should buy to get "THE U2 TONE". I´m a great fan of U2 and that´s what I play!! And what you think about BOSS GT-8?? I´m thinking if it´s better compact pedals or a pedalboard like gt-8. tell me what you think an keep playing!!
this is just to give you some feedback from your viewers, i like your videos and this is some songs that you might try to play - with or without you - bullet the blue sky! keep the good work
I have zero musical talent, but love U2 and I've really enjoyed your postings/tutorials. I've seen U2 27 times and always wondered whether Edge was playing everything "live." It appears so. Have you considered trying "Bullet the Blue Sky" which, IMHO, is U2's best live song. :) Thanks again!!!
I don't understaind how you get that funk sound. Is it the GuitarTech doin' it's work while you just lightly pluck a string, or do you actually strum to get that kinda sound? But it's brilliant. Felt like you were at ZOOTV when ya did the shuffle, huh? Fuckin' brilliant.
