Thank goodness I watched and became familiar with Laurie's comedic exploits before I ever did touch House. I would've gotten a shock (like a lot of American viewers) if I'd seen this after watching him as Dr House for 7 seasons.
How Stephen Fry says "yes" at 2:32 is hilarious. In my opinion hes the one who makes all the videos really funny.(He's the best actor) Hugh Laurie's funny too though.
his voice in this sketch is EXACTLY the same as one o four supply teachers ! we call her swedish meatball :P XD i just want to hit her evrytime she says something
@PatRibsey Uh, no. most of us know it. I still find it funny that he spent all that time and effort insulting America and then came here to make millions of dollars.
@coldpawofthefurs He insults both nations. He never meant to say "oh, Americva is shit" he just mocked customs, habits and attitudes from America. he did the same for Britian quite a lot. There's a difference between mocking, and then genuinely trying to insult.
Superb depiction of the misunderstanding different languages can cause and pointing out that in some languages 10 words can mean 1 in another, exaggerated here of course for comedic effect but well thought out sketch.SAKE!!!!
Yeah! I was trying to remember what Stephen Frys own language was called...I think he used to have a radio show that used to feature large segments entirely devoted to strom. Nice to clear that up. People always think of Fry and Laurie as just tradtional types of sketch writers, but that bit when they left the scene altogether is quite innovative really.

What's wrong with you? Why do you want to hit her because of her accent?
You shouldn't be calling her names.
Supply teachers don't know anything about you, you should be pretending to be deaf or that you have taurettes or something. Much more fun :D

Not their best sketch, but Stephen's accent is amusing. Is he trying to sound like Frank Spencer or is that just an unfortunate by-product?
LewisQ 4 years ago
brilliant prospect from a meta-level. the word "bit" in "a bit of fry & laurie" is probably based on the german idiom "das gewisse etwas"

Plant, I should think. The subtitles must have been visible on monitors for the audiences benefit so they must have worked it out beforehand.

The poor git looked so humiliated. Or in Strom: O makhi takhtilan bum bum bum yeli mastaman insigob trata. (I hope Mr.Fry doesn't read this)
