I agree that most pro boxers are faster than most mma fighter at the "mitts", but you should check out anderson silva in his pro-boxing fight. didn't even get touched and corner called it in the second round. alot of mma fighters move more, because you got alot less padding in those gloves.

Look at James Toney and Randy couture, both fairly elite in their sport in their prime, both getting old (Randy is 5 years older than Toney), and not competitive anymore. Toney had over a year of ground game training, and Randy didn't even break a sweat beating him. Ray Mercer got beat by KIMBO SLICE on ground game!

You can't cover your face with your gloves in mma. I would love to see better shoulder rolls in mma, but you have to worry about kicks, knees and takedowns that you don't in boxing, plus the one punch knockout power from thinner gloves. As such, you see mma fighter are better at keeping their distance + movement.
Yeah same. Ive been doing it for a year and a half and, although im not trying to brag, can do it pretty fast. Once you get down the combo patterns you could do it with your eyes closed.

Hughes, regardless of headbutt or not, was rocked and at one point asked his corner "did he knock me down?" and spent the rest of the round recovering. round one to serra, hughes won round 2 because he spent it doing nothing but he was on top, serra was completely subdued and round 3 was the same as 2 but serra did the majority of(a small amount of) offense from his back and he actually threw punches from top r3 serra
i didnt pay very much attention to the fight because i was just wanting to see the main event...but i think edgar won by submission....and hughes beat serra by decision...and machida ko'd evans in the 2nd round

Freddy Roach has seen BJ fight because BJ is much more well known than Edgar, so I'm assuming he has hardly or never seen Frankie fight.
I think it's best to judge for yourself rather than listening to what Freddie Roach says, even though he is a master boxing trainer.
Believe me when I say this, Frankie's boxing is at a very similar level to BJ's.
Irony has it that these 2 have the best boxing in MMA, though BJ will have some more power, Frankie has a pretty good chin...but still, BJ can hit!

Here we go yeah he's more versed in jiu jitsu and all that but not in boxing but i'll have you know manny pacquiao started out in kick boxing so he may stand a chance and yeah this guy might take him to the ground once he realizes he can't hang with the pac-man. if he started out in kickboxing but only competes in boxing then he won't hang with edgar in overall stand up. why? because he hasn't developed the timing and experience in overall stand up that you can only get by using all those techniques. so edgar would be better stanind if he used kicks, knees and elbows.

I agree that most pro boxers are faster than most mma fighter at the "mitts", but you should check out anderson silva in his pro-boxing fight. didn't even get touched and corner called it in the second round. alot of mma fighters move more, because you got alot less padding in those gloves.

@JohnAntonyFortune meh. I agree that the level of mma BOXING right now isn't at par with the top boxers, but I disagree with "1 or 2 years" for a boxer to learn ground game. Look at James Toney and Randy couture, both fairly elite in their sport in their prime, both getting old (Randy is 5 years older than Toney), and not competitive anymore. Toney had over a year of ground game training, and Randy didn't even break a sweat beating him. Ray Mercer got beat by KIMBO SLICE on ground game!

First, Anderson Silva had a record of 2-1 in mma against meh competition in that first boxing match. He was just starting in boxing. The boxing match I brought up was 7 years later. Anderson Silva was actually talking about going into pro boxing at that time.

@JohnAntonyFortune Finally, while boxers have great skillset, much of their technique relies on movements such as shoulder rolls and keeping their face covered with their gloves. You can't cover your face with your gloves in mma. I would love to see better shoulder rolls in mma, but you have to worry about kicks, knees and takedowns that you don't in boxing, plus the one punch knockout power from thinner gloves. As such, you see mma fighter are better at keeping their distance + movement.

Watching the video, you can see the amount of clips they had to make 10 sec of punches, plus the guy with mits moves his hand toward the punches. NOTHING special. he was still rocked! and he spent the whole fight doing very little damage!!! Hughes, regardless of headbutt or not, was rocked and at one point asked his corner "did he knock me down?" and spent the rest of the round recovering. round one to serra, hughes won round 2 because he spent it doing nothing but he was on top, serra was completely subdued and round 3 was the same as 2 but serra did the majority of(a small amount of) offense from his back and he actually threw punches from top r3 serra
