"The greatest group that ever was an ever will be. They're like Shakespeare, Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, Leonardo Da Vinci, Disneyland, the 1956 Yankees, Abe Lincoln, MLK, Chartres Cathedral, Martin guitars, etc. The best in their category, and they will always stay that way because it's not humanly possible to top it." - DH
@Jaynekullen They wouldn't have been the same bands at all. I'm happy both bands had the personal they had on both sides. Interesting to think about, though; but probably woulda missed out on some of the best music by two of the best bands in the world.
@Jaynekullen OH, maybe I misunderstood you!. If you were talking about AFTER Moonie died, yeah, Ginger woulda fit better than Kenny Jones for sure. Don't think Baker was up to it though. It was really Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) who really put The "WHO" back in "The Who", later on in their concerts.
Hey, how come Jack Bruce was the lead singer but everyone always acts like Eric Clapton was the lead while Jack and Ginger were his back ups. I think it's really unfair.
TOWNSAND TOLD CLAPTON HENDRIX WOULD PUT THEM BOTH OUT OF BUSINESS!! HENDRIX ALSO TOLD CLAPTON TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO RHYTHM GUITAR AS WELL AS LEAD...CAUSE WITH HIS SUPER LONG FINGERS..HENDRIX COULD PLAY BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!! EVER NOTICE THE GREATS HAVE LONG SLINDER FINGERS? JUST AN OBSERVATION.
@faroutlindsey actually its that the greats are good cuz of their long fingers, playing guitar does that too your fingers. i used to average fingers but after 8 years of playing they're really bony long and have big veins commin out of my hand.
@bassgroove21 MAN I BEEN PLAYING SINCE 1965 AND MY FINGERS ARE STILL SHORT AND STUBBY..ALSO THET ARE STFF...I HAVE TO USE THREE FINGERS TO PLAY AN A CHORD...! I LOVE RHYTHEM GUITAR[SPELLED RIGHT.ALSO SCUSE MY CAPS...MY EYES HURT AND IT IS JUST EASIER TO USE CAPS..SORRY..I CAN PLAY SOME DECENT LEAD ,BUT RHYTHEM MOST!!! THANKS FOR REPLYING AND GOD BLESS YOU...AND YOUR GUITAR!!
Hendrix told Chas Chandler that the first thing he wanted to do when he got to London was to meet Eric Clapton..Hendrix said 'this is dedicated to The Cream..the heaviest band in the world...' before breaking into Sunshine Of your Love at Winterland in 1968.
All the best guitarists have their own signature sound..That's what makes them great.
This is the "heavy" (real to me) version. Ten Years After is too "jam session-y"? but I love it, especially the hot licks. I learned to love this version in CA in 60 something. This is HEAVY!
Mucho Thanks for uploading this video. Don't know where you found this, but, it's damn good condition for the age. Amazing something like this survived while these guys were in their prime.
@kcwm4494 clapton had more acclaim because of his awesome guitar, but what made Cream so great was Jack's awesome bass and wailing vocals, and for good measure, throw in Ginger's drumming, a drummer who played two different layers of drums, one pattern from kick drums to over lay with what he did on top. He often said the drummer's job was to make the music better, by hitting the drums at the right time, and right place, that was his gig!!
man do u see how Ginger rolls the stick off his left hand going from the snare to the ride cymbal at 0:56 ? u have to look fast & maybe rewind the clip a few times. incredible cool looking trick/technique. what a master he really drove this band. what a master, i wish he was healthier than he could be.
Wow dude!! Thanks for the psychoanaysis. Where should I send the bill? Eric is so modest, he would say YOU are better than him. I'm just going by alot alot of guitarists say.
Screw all you bunch of pussies - Jack Bruce was the driving force behind Cream and Eric Clapton was just along for the ride. Sure, Clapton went on to bigger and better things, but there would be no Clapton w/o Bruce.
Im guessing you dont respect clapton due the fact that you said srv is better than him... srv is an overracted guitar player who has the creativeness of a rock and is so boring...
howd he sell out exactly? the guys been playing blues guitar for the last 45 years nonstop. even john lee hooker and buddy guy reckon hes the best. i saw him live a few weeks ago hes still playing old blues songs and they were still terrific.
Ginger launches his stick off the snare sky high at the end...classic move of his. They really were the best band - even though they did more covers. I get sad and happy when I hear this, the 60's were a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
there all talented but i think eric clapton was the most talented because he was at least not hiding for decades he showed himself so he was the most heard of
Just a little spoon of your precious love......Interesting lack of attention toward Clapton in this vid, what pray tell was the cameraman thinking? There was no "supporting cast" in this video. The cameraman . . finally for once. . . paid attention to someone else besides Clapton, who was likely the least talented member of the group.
Not saying that Clapton isn't enormously talented. Bruce and Baker were better players. Bruce was a better singer, writer, and generally played circles around Clapton during those long jams.
Yes they are great. The "supporting cast" was tongue in cheek. The intent if you read is Clapton should have not been singled out anymore than the two other great players but should have received more video time for those riffs.
I wish today's rockers would get back to their blues roots like they did in the 60s.

Why not just enjoy this stunning performance and keep one's own opinion about the 'BestEver' musicians ? It always will be a question of taste !
Jimi AND Eric AND Steve are great guitarists (as so many more).
And yes, I love Jack, and yes, he was the 'driving force' - but without Eric it wouldn't have been Cream. Gary Moore was to young at that time :)
BBM was a very good reincarnation of Cream (before the 2005 concerts).
