It's funny how many people who like PCs keep giving the lame excuse of "a mac cant play games" while you can go to steam and download a lot of games for mac like Assasins Creed, Counter Strike, Portal, Left for dead, and you can get COD, vice city and modern combat and much more on the apple store.
What this commercial doesn't tell you is that nowadays computer users get their virus through social engineering. It means that if you get your virus because you click on some ads on certain site, it's your fault, not PC or Mac.
On the other hands, If you are a Mac user and you think your Mac is invincible enough to let you click whatever ads you want, you will get virus too.
That being said, if you get virus through that, you are dumb in regardless of whatever you use.

This is mostly a question of market. PCs were way more popular than Macs, than hacker would develop most of their viruses to PCs, in order to achieve greater numbers of people. If they start to become equally popular, both of them will tend to have same amount of viruses developers and same amount of new viruses per day.

As a business owner a PC with a nice 24" IPS panel costs me about $1200 incl Vista/Win 7. But in 3 years I have to reinstall it 3 times, do many cleanups, maintain virus s/w etc so let's say I spend 20 hours on maintenance. 20 hrs = $1700. So the PC costs me $2900.
A nice iMac $1700, zero maintenance, maybe an update 4 hrs, so total $2040.
Plus the Mac comes with much more software out of the box.
As a "business" owner with your kind of thinking, I'm surprised you're not out of business. My PC's haven't needed any "maintenance" that wasn't automatic. But since mac won't load any of my business applications, and I would have to also go out and buy windows, or another PC, it's actually more costly. And as a biz person, not doing backups is idiotic. If you had backups, you wouldn't have to 20 hours of work either. Funny how once someone gets ripped, they lie to themselves.

Also apple is about 1 solid year behind better PC's in performance. I have an i7 at 3.6, ddr3, 1TB HD, better gfx card adn it cost me $800. For the last year, apple has put in lousy core 2 duo's in $1600 imacs. I can render video in less than 1/2 the time an imac can. And I have done my research. So again, mac hardware is typically a year behind. IT will catch up late this fall, but then fall behind again in 2010 because apple can't keep changing configurations.
and before telling me I don't use mac blah blah. I have both leopard and windows 7, and windows 7 is over all better. Also pc's can load osx. I've done that too. Meaning, my PC running osx will burn the shit out of your mac you paid over $1000 for. But again, I prefer windows 7.
there are programs that protect your pc from viruses but they stop other programs. so you have to shut down the virus program to comunicate for example

Well, anything with a unix platform is supposed to be more rigid but this rigidity will make the os less malleable meaning there will be many restriction, this is why OSX cant run or do stuff like the way windows can. Windows is very flexible that it can run tons of software and also tons of viruses.

This ad shows that pcs have to activate anti virus to protect them from viruses and that causes them to function less properly. Thats not true. I have had a few viruses on my pc even with anti virus on though guess thats my fualt, I never had a single virus on any of my macs =P
Same can be said for windows users. I have not had a virus since 2003 and I run no antivirus. The only thing I've done differently is not use my main computer to surf to mystery websites, run only legitimate software and dont search for 'free music' or movies. Basically dont look for trouble and it wont find you...

I have not had a virus on my pc for like 3 years. Also, you can put Macs O.S. on a pc, so I don't know why they label all pc's with using systems like XP, or any thing by Microsoft.

There've been plenty of proof-of-concept UNIX/Linux viruses, and there's currently a massive mac-only botnet at the moment (several thousand zombies, in fact), that you will've got from torrenting software.
Also, in the pwn2own contest, Safari on the Mac was the most easily exploited - it only took 10 seconds from the loading of the exploit to complete control of the box.
There's plenty more examples of why the Mac isn't perfect, but yeah. Read up before making stupid assumptions.

May I point out that conficker was patched last October, so only people who didn't update are vulnerable? And there are several mac trojans in the wild. Plus, a person was able to hack safari in the Pwn2Own contest. Really, they are around the same in terms of security. If you do dumb things, like use limewire, you'll get a virus, on either system.

I have had Macs for about 10 years now(and PCs as well). I have never had to put on any type of AnitVirus program on the Mac. I like PCs as well, but you definitely have to be more careful and use the right programs for protection.
Apple's userbase consists of people that buy the new iProduct because its shiny and made by Apple. They probably don't know much about security either and have stupid passwords on their machines. Its just a matter of time until someone roots a bunch of macs and has a nice OS X botnet.
For the meantime, I'll enjoy using Linux with its constant security updates.

Anything that is connected to the internet or any type of network can be broken into. No OS is perfectly secure. In the end it all comes down to how competent the end user is. I'm sure that Macs can be rooted. I mean, look at the userbase, its just average people that use macs who want to be elitsts. They've got a false sense of security. I bet most macs have the users' pets names as the root pass.
That's not true for all distributions of Linux. Linux distributions like Fedora, Ubuntu (and its variants), and PC Linux OS take a lot of the hard work out.
Now if you use a distribution like Archlinux or Gentoo and think that its hard work then its the users fault for using a Linux distro made for intermediate to advanced Linux users.
I haven't used any antivirus on my Vista system in the past 3 years and I have yet to catch an infection. I use nothing but a firewall replacement.

Yeahhh no, not exactly. If you configure even a cheaply constructed Walmart of computer piece of shit Dull Chumput0r (Dell) technology for technology it comes out more expensive. Mac's problem is they come usually full of higher end configs with no configuration to lower that price. That said the best configuration at the lowest price is and always will be DIY, build your own is really the way to go.

As a business owner a PC with a nice 24" IPS panel costs me about $1200 incl Vista/Win 7. But in 3 years I have to reinstall it 3 times, do many cleanups, maintain virus s/w etc so let's say I spend 20 hours on maintenance. 20 hrs = $1700. So the PC costs me $2900.
A nice iMac $1700, zero maintenance, maybe an update 4 hrs, so total $2040.
Plus the Mac comes with much more software out of the box.
So a Mac is actually much cheaper.

As a "business" owner with your kind of thinking, I'm surprised you're not out of business. My PC's haven't needed any "maintenance" that wasn't automatic. But since mac won't load any of my business applications, and I would have to also go out and buy windows, or another PC, it's actually more costly. And as a biz person, not doing backups is idiotic. If you had backups, you wouldn't have to 20 hours of work either. Funny how once someone gets ripped, they lie to themselves.

Also apple is about 1 solid year behind better PC's in performance. I have an i7 at 3.6, ddr3, 1TB HD, better gfx card adn it cost me $800. For the last year, apple has put in lousy core 2 duo's in $1600 imacs. I can render video in less than 1/2 the time an imac can. And I have done my research. So again, mac hardware is typically a year behind. IT will catch up late this fall, but then fall behind again in 2010 because apple can't keep changing configurations.

Well, anything with a unix platform is supposed to be more rigid but this rigidity will make the os less malleable meaning there will be many restriction, this is why OSX cant run or do stuff like the way windows can. Windows is very flexible that it can run tons of software and also tons of viruses.

This ad shows that pcs have to activate anti virus to protect them from viruses and that causes them to function less properly. Thats not true. I have had a few viruses on my pc even with anti virus on though guess thats my fualt, I never had a single virus on any of my macs =P

The only thing I've done differently is not use my main computer to surf to mystery websites, run only legitimate software and dont search for 'free music' or movies. There've been plenty of proof-of-concept UNIX/Linux viruses, and there's currently a massive mac-only botnet at the moment (several thousand zombies, in fact), that you will've got from torrenting software.
Also, in the pwn2own contest, Safari on the Mac was the most easily exploited - it only took 10 seconds from the loading of the exploit to complete control of the box.
There's plenty more examples of why the Mac isn't perfect, but yeah. Read up before making stupid assumptions.

May I point out that conficker was patched last October, so only people who didn't update are vulnerable? And there are several mac trojans in the wild. Plus, a person was able to hack safari in the Pwn2Own contest. Really, they are around the same in terms of security. If you do dumb things, like use limewire, you'll get a virus, on either system.

Good ad and clever way to get the message across. There are tons of active viruses on PCs already and plenty of exploits not yet found. Microsoft wouldn't know how to write secure code if it hit them on the head. I love PC users who say 'I don't use an antivirus and my computer is fine' because they're sure to have a couple of trojans quietly sending their passwords to hackers in Russa. Anything that is connected to the internet or any type of network can be broken into. No OS is perfectly secure. In the end it all comes down to how competent the end user is. I'm sure that Macs can be rooted. I mean, look at the userbase, its just average people that use macs who want to be elitsts. They've got a false sense of security. That's not true for all distributions of Linux. Linux distributions like Fedora, Ubuntu (and its variants), and PC Linux OS take a lot of the hard work out.
Now if you use a distribution like Archlinux or Gentoo and think that its hard work then its the users fault for using a Linux distro made for intermediate to advanced Linux users.

Even if it's referring to Conficker, it's wrong. The number of infected PCs isn't that critical, and you're most likely to catch it if you're torrenting like a zitty teen.

Mac's problem is they come usually full of higher end configs with no configuration to lower that price.
