I have played one today and i am going buy it this has made my decision, I have fallen for it.

I always wanted to start playing the lute (we have a thin and long folk variation of the instrument in Greece) but not being able to afford one I started orienting myself towards some cheap lutes that are sold on ebay. Are they any good? Can I start playing in them?
