The skyline is a confusing model for a lot of ppl,,, while in the U.S. we had Infiniti G35, those were the skylines all along in japan. but now that the skyline is introduced to U.S. market, it holds the name Nissan GTR, although in Jpn it is the Nissan Skyline GTR R35 yes,,,

The chassis code is CBA-R35. R35 for short. Yes its a GTR. Following the lines of the past GTR's. BNR32 , BCNR33, BNRR34, CBAR35.

No,no,no. This 'R32','R33','R34' AS WELL AS THE 'R35' are merely chassis codes to differentiate each model. Yes,they are GT-Rs. The only difference is that the R32-R34 are part of the Skyline family,not the latest R35,as they are now known only as the GT-R.

just your regular nissan/infiniti key. All new keyless nissans/infiniti's have these. (maximas, altimas, muranos, FX G35/45 M35/45. They just change the logos on them from nissan/infiniti/GTR.

They should have made the GT-R with a different key, maybe all aluminum or carbon fiber or something.

The engine is actually different. The max is 3.5 this is 3.8 and it uses turbos. This engine has never been used in any other nissan car. The KEy is a standard Nissan and Infiniti Key only it has the GTR logo

yeah but the VR is a VQ a 3.8 liter VQ. but because its turbo charged and not N/A thats why its called VR. but it is a 3.8 based the famous VQ line. so its a VQ if it had no turbos. but adding the turbos then makes it a VR

You are correct in that it is a more developed version of the VQ. The first two letters in Nissan engine ID codes signifies the engine family, the numbers representing the displacement in liters, and the following characters denote characteristics that the engine possesses, such as DOHC and Electronic Fuel Injection, or Turbo.

You're not getting it. The VR38DETT is DERIVED FROM the VQ engine. It's not the turbos that make it a "VR". From a design perspective, the VR block is completely different from what goes into the 350Z and G35s (Skyline V35). It is truly a different motor; the only similarity is the cylinder layout.

Going back to your logic about the turbos...if you added a twin turbo setup to a 350Z, would it be a VR35?

yes its a different motor but its still based on the VQ qhich in turn makes it a VQ, technically. and no it wouldnt be a VR35 it would be a VQ turbo.

its like the Ford GT motor. its a differnt motor but its based on the block from the Ford Lightning motor. so technically its a ford lightning motor

but i dont care what the VR38 is called. its a great motors like the whole VQ series
