You probably have a gas Mac-11 then they are slightly different then a Mac-10 and smaller. I love how they look in my opinion though and the blowback on the gas gun is funner then the AEP setup he has :D, thats just my opinion though

Z2020 fish which TM internals are you actually on about because the TM version 3 gearbox can last 5 years+ easy with a bit of maintanence. And what springs have you been putting in TMs to strip their gears ffs? In the UK its a 1J power limited and a TMs gears will not strip at that power unless you spray like a retard continuously. Do agree with ya about the prices and externals though.

Hey, sorry, I didn't realise anyone had responded to me. Actually no, I decided to give my G3 SG/1 (V2 Gearbox) a bit of a shoot in my room one day so I got her out. At the time I hadn't been skirmishing ever with the gun and would only fire her every now and again. I was using her on semi auto, I must have shot 15-20 rounds when "GRRRGH!" Spur gear stripped 10 teeth off...on semi auto...with the standard spring! Complete opposite of what you thought, right? ;-) Go figure.

I'm not the first this has happened to & I won't be the last. Needless to say the standard gears simply aren't fit for purpose - Period. The gun shouldn't need to be pussy-footed to perform properly. It is simply a design/materials flaw -- insufficient structural strength to be a load-bearing part. This can happen 2 any TM gearbox not just 1 or the other. It's all fixed now, got an FTK in the gearbox & it's never happier. Don't mind me, I'm just ranting. Over the years I've grown 2 loath TM.

As for lasting '5 years+' I have no idea where you're getting your info from but in my case and many other TM AEG users' cases this 'estimate' is wishful thinking. In my experience if you want your AEG to last more than 5 minutes you NEED steel gears - End of. But that's not to mention the rest of the gearbox, I never leave my AEG gearboxes as stock as what's the point? If you're going to upgrade 1 bit you might as well upgrade the lot as other parts are shabby quality at best anyway...

I've only had experience with V3 TMs and in my experience VFCs and G&Ps (M416 & M16A3) shafted themselves a heal of a lot quicker than the TM did. It could just be a universal thing in that V3 is more reliable than V2 though.

it is ilegal in japan to make metal bodied airsoft guns. not to mention the TM ABS plastic is of a lot better quality than the potmetal most of the full metal AEG manufactures use

To put it bluntly you don't know what you are talking about. TM is renowned for using cheap cast soft 'pot metal' parts. It's the other companies out there that are raising the standard - not the other way around. TM uses inkwashed/dyed pot metal, companys like King Arms, A&K and HFC, for instance, use sprayed aluminium and zinc alloys which are better quality, more durable and structurally stronger than your beloved el cheapo TM ABS polymer. Utter nonsense.

As for not making metal bodies that's funny as I seem to recall them making an almost full metal bodied M1A1 Thompson not to mention the Type 89 and AK74MN rifles. Even if the matter of Japanese law is the case, they could easily have used fibreglass, nylon, polycarbonate, duracon or other high densitiy - high strength polymers/composite materials. They use ABS simply because it is cheap to produce.

actually my dad is an airtech, and i have a KWA G36C, a G&G M4, and a TM G36C. we have taken them all apart dozens of times, and the TM is lasting a LOT better. especaly than the G&G. so why dont you learn the real deal before telling people that TM sucks and bla bla bla. also, the TM and KWA feel very similair but i will admit the KWA feels a little nicer
