From my own observations, I notice that women (from the US) who don scantily clad attire in an effort to get attention from men usually grew up without a father/father figure. Although I think that it is very important to encourage women to respect themselves, I also think that it would be most beneficial to give attention to the source of the problem (no father) and not the symptom(s) (looking for Daddy in the wrong ways)...

i'm tired of people saying women get raped because of their clothes. 4 year old girls and 80-year old women get raped. i wonder how these same people would explain that. women are raped regardless of what they wear. rape is about control and power, not clothes.

I work directly with many victims of rape, and I too have heard the societal theory that rape is related to control and power. In my work, that couldn't be further from the truth. Most of the victims I have assisted were either working prostitutes or teenage girls experimenting with prostitution. Maybe the control theory is valid in some cases, but not the majority of the ones I have seen.

@cboneofenglewood i see your point, but if women are raped because of the clothes they wear, then it would be happening much more frequently. many women have not been raped and wear the same clothes we know prostitutes to wear. i don't know the circumstances of your work, but i submit that power and control still come into play whether a woman is a prostitute or not. The story of Tamar in the Bible (beginning in 2 Samuel 13) illustrates my point. That said, dressing modestly is Biblical.

I just believe to say that clothes are the reason for rape is too easy an explanation for such a strong act of aggression/violence. Yes, women should dress modestly, because clothes do have an effect/play a role. But I submit rape is much more complicated than what the pastor suggests in this clip. Actually, Galatians 3:28 seems to contradict some other verses. But...there is no way that Jesus said that women were less than men. Quoting Paul does not count. Because as much as men want to take the verses they want literally, there are just as many that men cannot take literally.

So, in this day and age we now know that we are equal in worth and equal in the eyes of God to conduct our lives or marriages or even on the pulpit.

I can see things in the bible. But not all can be taken literally. We all grew up in confidence with the Lord and we see that women can be doctors, lawyers, bank managers and so forth. That means they are not just keepers at home. That is just one role and if a woman works, she gets help from her husband and children with that role.

I don't have to just be a "work at home" for no pay wife. Although that is a worthy job. It is my choice. My cannot forbid me from working.

A woman deserves every right to a good education (I think you admited that) but what is she to do with it? keep it under a bushel?). She can teach her children, but there is much more to a woman. She will live to 80-100 years old. Child rearing takes about 20 years. You restrict women to be a personal servant if you say what you do.

Answer me this: If you were told you could no longer work for money. Had to stay home, cook, clean, do dishes all day, laundry, book keeping, care for sick children, homework, and then the round goes the same veryday.

School meetings or volunteerism. Caring for sick parents inbetween - no pay, no money of ones own, on an allowance.

So, If YOU could do this full time homemaker for 20-25 years or more, do IT. But do NOT ask or force any woman to do it. She must have a choice for both endeavours are worthy. Raising a family and supporting a husband at home - is very worthy. I did it. I had a career and gave it up to stay home fulltime.

It is NOT easy to lose ones status in society, and no wage or benefits.

But if you think you could do it, Don't just say it. Do it for a year. Then respond.

And after you have been at it a year. Changing diapers, being told you do nothing all day and have no life outside the home. Be told you can't take the car when you want. Or have to have many restrictions. And be told you should be happy to have a roof over your head. When you know very well you can go out get a good job and make your own money to put a roof over your head.

A homemaker and mother is a fulltime job and goes into evenings, weekends and nightshift many times.

Have your wife come home and tell you she worked hard all day and she wants to be served. Kids might be crying or sick or dealing with broken plumbing etc.

Then when you are exhausted she thinks you are being selfish if you ask for help with the dishes or getting kids bathed.

And for some homemakers it is way worse. Some it is better. But after you do it for a year, make sure you put in the other 18 years required so you really get it. Then go out and get that good paying job at 50.

My husband is an Industrial Electrician. I put him through school and helped him with his studies, especially the electronics math at times. (I am a former banker). But I would not be able to do the work he has on dangerous jobs.

We were born in the 50's - so for us we are still slightly traditional. Although when we got engaged my husband promised I could get my education and manage my own pursuits. Sorry, that slowly just turned into whatever he wanted in life. But we managed overall.

But, each couple in a marriage should be negotiating how things work for them. I see some househusband/fathers. They are marvelous. Not doing exactly like most women, but great dads.

MEN cannot lead women in certain efforts. Because they don't have a bloody clue what it is like to have a monthly period and bleed profusely and get anemic and still have to go shopping and deal with regular life.

They do NOT know what it is like to be pregnant and birth a baby and the body takes 3 FULL years to go back to its original form. That is the scientific research. The mom can be healed in 6 weeks in some respects but others take a long time.

The other thing to note, it it consumes tons of energy to try to find clothing that MEN are saying you must wear, then is that about Christ? If ones energy is focused too heavily on dress and clothing or chalices or statues, or setting up chairs or how one holds their hands in the air, - that is Not from Christ.

God judges those who judge unjustly.

IMHO, women can wear pants, skirts, shorts, tops, t shirts, hats, sandals, dresses.

2. I quoted Matthew 7 for a reason - because that is a direct admonition to NOT judge others - and if one does have a form of righteous judging that same form of judging will be used to JUDGE you.

There are many verses that discuss judging.

But what I noticed with people who want to hone in on their personal right to judge, they seem to exclude the most important scripture that JESUS proclaims about judging.

Matthew 7 Chapter 1 the first part of this chapter is very clear about judging.

In some matters -NO one can judge until they are really cleansed themselves. So who is the judge as to  when that state happens?
