To all the girls who say their doctor will not help them until they lose weight: PCOS makes it difficult for us to lose weight. It's like a catch 22 "I won't help until you lose it, but you won't lose it until I help you..." I'd be in the market for a second/third opinion.
A very nice lady that I know, who really means well (wants me not to stress over it), made a comment to me once: "Oh, those are the kind of cysts we all get..." Um, love ya', but no. I've recently learned how to keep from worrying about my PCOS (w/o insurance, I've had to just let it go. Luckily, I've got health care, now.) I stay busy! Haven't lost weight, no matter how I eat. God will sort it all out, in His time.
I make videos here on youtube that are pcos related and I don't know if you'd be interested but you would totally make my day if you checked it out! :)
This video made me cry. I've been having all sorts of crazy problems over the years and I got to a new family doctor who was suspicious immediately. Got an ultrasound done two days ago and I am getting all sorts of follicles sticking to my ovaries right now. Did I mention the pain? I feel this is so unfair, I'm only 19.. Thank you for this video
i am 16 years old and i have PCOS and Insulin Resistance which pretty much sucks... it makes it so hard to lose weight and even though i am eating the healthiest foods and getting great exercise at the gym... nothing is happening! it is really hard but i know there are others suffering with this and so if you need to talk with me please just post it on my channel <3 love all you PCOS sufferers i will always be here for you all :D
You left out the pain that sex induces (for all you adults) at times, the mood swings, the cravings, hair loss from your scalp.... (nervous laugh) It is not fun to suddenly feel as though one's body is not doing what it was designed to do... Yeah, don't really like to talk abt. it either, just as you don't. But we gotta share it, get this info out there for everyone else as frightened as we were before we knew what it was.....
@gritsonamission thanks for mentioning these symptoms. That explains a lot! I have mood swings all the time. I'm ok one minute and the next i'm furious about something. Anything sets me off. I also have hair loss from my scalp.
I have PCOS, and i hope my boyfriend understands it and stays with me, instead of breaking up with me :[ i hate it and i hope these birth control , Metformin and spironolactone works! and helps me. i hate having hair on my back...its ugly. im getting tired of shaving. :[ ugh im so ugly.
Anyways, your beautiful <3 and congrats on the baby!
@Wackychazy12 OMG i cried when i read our comment because I have the same problem with hair on my back. I feel SO UGLY too. I love this video and everyone for sharing their comments. THANK YOU.
Thank you for being so strong and telling your story. I have ALL the symptoms of PCOS and my doctor said the same thing that your 1st dr. told you. Well that and she handed me a pamphlet on adoption and said it was a little late to start having children (I was 29 at the time). My heart is ready for children whether i give birth or adopt I can't wait to be a mom. Good Luck to you!
hi, ive been diagnosed with pcos in 2005, i have tried many medications but it was so depressing neither of those works.. then may this year i got a new job as a company nurse and i told our company doctor about my condition ang he says just take folic acid for 4 months and lets see what will happen.... september this year i got pregnant.. im on my 4th month now .. so ladies dont lose hope...
Touching vid. I was only diagnosed a few weeks ago after having excruciating pain for over three years. I also have ME, auto-immune disease and under-active thyroid so I'm ill pretty much all the time. But to know that there are soooo many people out there with the same conditions makes me feel so much better :)
I was diagnosed over a year ago when I was 17. I was in my junior year of high school and I had an external cyst that ruptured and it was just really bad...lol. I'm only 19 so I haven't had to go through the trouble of having children yet, but I'm not looking forward to that struggle. I haven't gotten the dark spots but I have gained weight, have very irregular periods typically 4-6 months apart, dandruff, acne. I learned some things from your video so thank you. Hang in there!
i have it and i take pills for it i worry every single day about wether i can have kids or not....my mom doesnt really realize how stressed and worried i am about it and idk what to do or what to say to get more help/info

I can understand how hard the infertility side of pcos is. I have pcos too but very very fortunately I still have bang on regular periods and was able to have a baby (and I was on contraceptives too!) A friend of mine has it too and never had a period for two years then she took metformin and started getting regular periods. The whole thing with pcos is that its something you will always have but there are literally hundreds of ways to manage the symptoms.Just a matter of trying new things.
I just stopped taking birth control for the first time since I was 17- 2 years after I started my period. After going to the ob/gyn today and having a picture taken of my ovaries, I found out I might have PCOS. I haven't had many of the symptoms- except possibly acne/oily skin. I have always had a feeling I won't be able to have kids...
Thanks for posting this personal video and sharing with all of us <3
wow i'm really scared when you started talking about heart problems and diabetes because well i when you were saying all the symptoms, i pretty much have ALL of them symptoms.. i'm going for a blood test on monday and my doctor is also checking if i have pcos but after watching this video i'm 95% i have it... i'm so so scared :( i'm only 18 and i'm very overweight too... its so hard to go on a diet and stick to it. i think i'm suffering from depression too, it just feels like i have no-one
Thanks for posting this. I'm 15 years old and was just diagnosed with it as well. I had my period non-stop for a year and had been gaining weight and having severe acne so I knew that something was wrong with me. It's really great to hear other stories!
Thankyou for your story. I have this condition. It was good to hear your story. My husband and I struggled with infertility, but in 2002 we went to a fertility specialist who watched us closely on clomid, and we had a beautiful baby boy. Unfortunately 3 years later, my son was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, and passed away this year. Our world was turned upside down so badly! Now we are trying to have another baby, and have been on clomid. This time it didn't work. Trying to work on diet.
I don't have a solid diagnosis yet (because the ultrasound scan was inconclusive), although I seem to have almost all the symptoms. The hair growth, weight problems, period problems and pain (almost every day) is driving me mad. =o[
its also hard for me.. my doctor really doesnt give a sh!t.. =( she basically sent me to a nutritionist, then psychologist!! wasted alot of time... im on pills right now but she told me the only way to fix the problem is to loose weight... but its so hard...
@dreamz123181 well here i'm today is been my third day of taking METFORMIN 500mgs twice a day? the only effect ive been having is diarrhea... everymorning when i take the pill they say thats normal??? i have lost 2 pounds in three days by eating right i really really want to get pregnant and wanna create a family... please all people reading this have me on your prayers:( that will help alot..... am only 19 yrs and it sucks to have this... but i gotta fight it PCOS DOENT HAVE ME I HAVE PCOS :)
hey, i was diagnosed with PCOS this week Oct 26, 2009 and the symptoms started in mid 07. I have not had a regular period since sept 08 and stil havent seen one. I suffer most of symptoms such as facial hair, oily skin, thinning of hair, weight gain and inability to concive. My endicrinologist started me on metformin and im just hoping i see some type of results in the next few months. I find it hard to deal with but i know ill get through it.
Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS Jun 2007, but the problems started 2004. I never had regular period, but I started gaining weight 2005.
I started the treatment immediately after I got diagnose. I was taking Progesterone for 6 months and Metformin for year and a half. I was on a strict diet for more than 2 years ( and I LOVE chocolate :() and I was at the gym every day. When I started I was 160 lb. and now I am 120 lb. This is my weight for the last 2 years. Because of the treatment and the diet
I was just diagnosed with PCOS last week and the dr. wants to perform surgery on me next week. He said it takes all the pain and away and clears up the acne n helps with the weight. For me, I have terrible pain in my ovaries and my back. He said it'll work and if i take fertility drugs they may or may not work so the surgery is more effective. My husband n I have been tryin for 7 months now and I'm hoping this surgery is a success so I can conceive and start our family.
I have PCOS and hypothyroidism (and having thyroid problems makes it much worse), and pretty much have no visible symptoms now because of an aggressive plan - I use Vaniqa, Rogaine am on Yaz, Metformin and Synthroid for my thyroid, and exercise aggressively, watch my eating and only have caffeine twice a week. I highly suggest cutting caffeine if you don't have insurance....caffeine increases insulin production, so it's the last thing anyone with PCOS needs. And cut the alcohol too.
I have PCOS and I have never had any periods. I can't seem to lose this weight and I am having crazy depression problems. I am 26 now and I not getting treatment because I lost my medical insurance. I would like to thank you for your video because I sometimes feel like less of a woman.
im 16 and i got diagonosed with pcos in june.. and im diagonosed with very high testosterone
so that just makes it harder for me because i have more hair than other
i have to wax every other week and pluck every day under my ching and i dont wax my mustache cus it hurts lol but yeah, its hard for me to lose weight or i lose it and gain it right back, i cant take birth control cus it makes me sick and the other option is shots and im scared of needles!
i think i may have PCOS.. im havin irregular priods.. dr put me on provera to get my period.. i did get it but never got it again.. dr also put me on clomid but cant start that til i get my cycle..
I was just diagnosed with PCOS yesterday. I'm scared because i have stomach pain, horrible pain... and i heard that some girl got that plus vomiting and stuff, and it's not goign away, i've dealed with stomach pain since 2nd grade, im going into 8th now. i wanted to know if you experienced vomiting, stomach pain, or just the feelign of having to vomit. Im scared maily of that, and diabetes because my dad has type two, same with my brother and sister who are related to him, it's our motabilism!
I've had PCOS for 3 years now, and the only time I get bad stomach pain is during periods.. I think if this is ongoing you should speak to your GP about it.... main symptoms of PCOS is lagging periods, annoying little hair growth on face, blotchy skin, carrying extra pounds around the abdomen, feeling tired a lot, some loss of hair from head and infertility...
I've never had nausea brought on from PCOS and people I know who have it havent experienced that either.
I was diagnosed with Pcos when I was 23, I'm now 29, Would love kids, I watched this and do admit, I did cry. I think you are an inspiration, God bless you xx
Hi, i want some one to help me, im 17, i dont know weather i have got PCOS, but i deep down i believe do, im really upset at the moment and abit scared, i go college, and act as if im just a normal girl with my friends. i have looked up on PCOS, i have got almost every single symthom, and also i have got hirutism. i just dont know what to do, does this mean, when i grow up i wont be able to have a baby?
I can understand being scared, but PCOS isn't too bad and gets easier to live with as time goes on, sometimes I forget I've even got it. I remember when I was first diagnosed at 20 I thought "I'll never have kids"... I'm 23 now and when I get financally stable I'll try for children.. and if I struggle there is help to conceive, so its really not the end of the world... I had a blood test yesterday to see if I have diabetes aswell now, so yeah, I'm pretty scared of that.
hi everyone. I've had PCOS since i was 12 years old and I am now 17 What I used to control it was Yaz birth control and Metformin I also excersise an hour a day to control my weight. It is possible to lose weight! You need to be on a low glycemic diet. Stay away from sugars! Eat proteins! It helps a lot! I have struggled and been rediculed my whole life from the symptoms of this disease. It sucks! And I feel soooo much for all of you other women and young girls suffering from this. U R not alone
Thank you for sharing. I have PCOS and it is a nightmare. And some physicians are so cruel. i am tired of the monthly waxings to my face, chest and even my back ladies. PCOS is no joke. I am a diva and who wants hair on their back. Yuck. But, we must stand together and support one another.
im 19 have pcos i got it diagnosed with it when i was 15..i have fallen pregant yet it was miscarriage in the end im on birth control , and its hard i got sick about just over a month ago so im losing the wieght but its soo hard i put on 20 kgs in 6 months i stopped eating coz i thought i was eating to much beofre i found out it was pcos so i know where u are coming from
I have been dealing with PCOS for a few years, my periods are extremely out of whack and nothing seems to help. I have a friend who is a thin girl with PCOS. I believe that with my weight and my irregularity I may never find a man to marry me, my friend lost her fiance' when she got diagnosed and was deemed infertile.
its grate to talk about it, i also have pcos and its so difficult sometimes. ive stoped takin medication for a while, i maybe should go back because it does need to be treated. thanks for talkin
This is a great video. Thank You for making it! I have PCOS also & my doctor barely would give me the time of day to even talk about it. She said "you probably have it, just take your birth control" like its no big deal at all. =/
Thank you so much for sharing this, I have just been diagnosed with PCOS, after a 1 1/2 year of being told that its all in my head and that I was depressed.
im 14 i have pcos i got it diagnosed with it when i was 13..i have been so angry because i got hair everywhere weight gain skin tags my weight was everywhere and none of the birth control is'nt working so im going to see endo doctor i pray for you
I have PCOS as well. And I'm only 17 :( it is very hard to deal with and right now I'm going at it untreated. I'm afraid to take the medicine thatI was told would help because the side effects. Ugh! It's like a lose-lose situation. Thank you for sharing your story. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this.
Thanks for sharing your story... I myself was diagnosed with pcos late last year, i am 21 yrs of age, i miss my period mnths at a time, i fet the facial hair the dark patches, and i gained alot of weight in a short amont of time, my ovaries get inflamed almost everyday, an it hurts really bad, almost like someone's poking you with a pin on the inside, and sometimes like punching, it gets to the point to were i cnt move for a couple minutes, it creeps up on me. i am getting treated rite now....
You are so BEAUTIFUL... I cried as I watched you video. I am 35 and have a beautiful three year old girl. I was so lucky to meet a man who loved me despite how I felt about myself because of the PCOS. I never knew what it was and eventually, because my younger sister was diagnosed, found out that I was not just abnormally shaped and hairy but I actually had a medical condition. I hope many young women who see your video will get the help that we waited so long to seek. Good Luck and Bless U
I was taking meds for it when i was 16, Metphormin, but it wasn;t doing me any good so i stopped taking it. I'm managing to overcome the inner symptoms on my own, without use of medication.
I'm 3rd generation in my family, my grandmother and my mother both had the condition, but in the era's they lived in PCOS was not a recognised medical problem, and they both turned out fine.
I have PCOS, i was diagnosed when i was 16...i'm now 21. Every symptom this lady describes is what i get.
With regards to the weight loss, yes it is hard, but i found a way that works for me....i gave up eating bread (have gone 105 days so far), and cut down my carbohydrate intake..as the simple sugars found in food such as bread, potatoes, rice and pasta can aggrivate PCOS and cause the weight gain.
during pregnacy I felt great but now my daughter is 2 yrs old and I feel worse then ever has anyone had luck with finding some type of treatment? Birth control did not work for me I would go 39 days in a row and then 2 months without even on birth control.
I have PCOS I have been suffering from it since I was 16 Im am now 25 just like you I recieved little help or support. I gave up hope on having children and I was scheduled to have a hysterectomy nov of 05 and became pregnant in march of 05 followed by another preganacy in 06 God gave me two beautiful children so it can happen.
iam 19 with PCOS as well.i found out when i was 18 and it broke my heart..my husband is in the army too,and we have been trying for a lil over a year now.your right it does hurt to be the person on the side line with no baby while everyone else does..your story inspired me not to give up,cuz iam so young still.we are going to try once he gets back from iraq! congrats on the pregnancy!
I'm 18 and it was confirmed that i have PCOS today. My doctor put me on birth control to regulate my cycle and i ended up having one for 37 days so i obviously stopped the birth control. Now she has me on metformin so hopefully this will work.
im 17 and got put on metformin today. i have had a leep for severe cervical dyplasia when i was 16. i was on birth control so i never knew that i could go 4-6 months without a period. pcos has been quite the struggle but im hoping the metformin, diet etc will help. women need to learn about pcos. its not something to mess around with.
hey there i found out 2 days ago that have PCOS which was heartbreaking for me as i'm a young teenager and was devastated that i had it. i've done some research and it says if left untreated you can become infertile but does having the condition make you infertile? also, as i am a young girl of 17 do you advise that i go on the pill or wait until i'm older? what are the benefits/risks of the pill? i'm so terrified of being infertile and i want to make sure that this does not occur
I am 16 and I think I have it. I am a blubbering mess at the moment and my mom made a appt for me..I know I probably do have it..I have ALL the symptons
I was diagnosed with pcos through a blood test....I have none of those symptoms....no hair, no oily skin...which make me think that I probably been mis-diagnosed...
i'm 16-years-old...and i just found out that i might have PCOS...it scares me to think that i may never be able to have kids...your video inspired me to be strong in my journey through PCOS...thanks so much!!!
Thanks so much for your video. My husband and I have also been trying for a child for over a year too. So, I definately know how you feel. My doctor is having me chart my temp. for 3 months before she makes the diagnosis. I totally agree with you about your doctor....if you don't think your doc. is knowledgeable or genuinely intersted in your health then you need to find a new one. Again, I appreciate you sharing your story.
Thank you for sharing your story. I have lots of friends with PCOS...myself I have Endo..which also causes infertility....we just had IVF and now are pregnant with twins. I wish you all the luck in the world!!
Thank you for sharing your PCOS experience with others!! I know how hard it is! I, myself, struggled with infertility before conceiving(due 6-10-08)It might take us a little longer to conceive but it can happen with proper treatment.I wish you the best! And feel free to pm if you have any questions.

Thanks for having the courage to make this video. I also have pcos. iM 27 years old. I am getting regular cycles..but I defiently have a harder time loosing weight-and find the symtomps frusterating. Good luck to you with your convieving. With regular exercise, weight loss and fertility drugs the chances are very high high for us to convieve. Thanks for the video.
Hey, Im sorry to hear that you have PCOS.. I can kinda understand what youre goign thru cause my sister has it. Idk if youve seen the vid on my front page (30,000 people and $1) but its a vid from my sister about her Struggles with PCOS. And I feel for her because I have 2 kids of my own, and our youngest sister only 17 is pregnant with her second child. & I know how hard it is for her to deal with that because she, Mona, wants children so bad but cant have them!
and to see our baby sister, just messing up her life with different guys and having kids... well its hard for me. And I know its even harder for Mona and on a diff level because her and her husband have been trying and you know, nothing. On top of the other symptoms. It can be rough. Right now tho they do foster care, and she seems to be doign better. But Im sure its still a daily struggle. You should check out her vid/channel. And thanks for putting this out there to inform others! God Bless♥
I watched Mona's video and was so moved. I donated to her cause too. I hope everything works out with her surgery. I don't know if she has asked her doctor, but because of the inability to lose weight, they might put her on some sort of medication to help her. My doctor put me on Xenical, and I have lost 14 pounds in one month on it.
oh wow.. thats awesome! They put her on meformin which actually seemed to cause more problems and made her gain weight. She said the docs werent helpful or supportive to her at all, and instead of helping her with the weight issue, they just simply said they couldnt help her until she lost weight! Isnt that crazy! I will mention about that xenical. I wonder if shes heard of it at all! Thanks so much. And I bet she appreicates the donation! Bless you so much!
Yeah I am on Metformin too. I had problems at first but my body has adjusted and I am totally used to it now. I just feel so bad for Mona that her doctors wont listen to her...she really needs to go see someone else, because the doctor she has can do alot more then he/she is letting on. For starters, they can try clomid...something that would make her ovulate. 85% of women with PCOS get pregnant on clomid. Losing weight is good, but she has been trying long enough, she needs a baby!!!! ;-)
I am going through everything you said. And I really want to be pregnant but im still on metformin and nothing yet...

im sorry to ask but how did u find out u had pcos cuz idk but i think i might have this and im scared
eveelicious1 2 years ago
The best cure for pcos is NATURAL progesterone cream- i.e wild yam, it mimics the effect of progesterone..
get a naturopath to make some for up for u...
stay away form processed foods, pesticides/herbicides in reg food mimics estrogen so must be strictly avoided..
Eat only organic.. avoid all food in plastic, exercise is very important., fat raises estrogen levels ,
Getting onto blood/metabolic typing diet to balance hormones.
also natural prods without SLS, parabens, glycols
q's pls ask.

hey, i was diagnosed with PCOS this week Oct 26, 2009 and the symptoms started in mid 07.

Im scared maily of that, and diabetes because my dad has type two, same with my brother and sister who are related to him, it's our motabilism!
allycatanime 2 years ago
I've had PCOS for 3 years now, and the only time I get bad stomach pain is during periods.. I think if this is ongoing you should speak to your GP about it.... main symptoms of PCOS is lagging periods, annoying little hair growth on face, blotchy skin, carrying extra pounds around the abdomen, feeling tired a lot, some loss of hair from head and infertility...
I've never had nausea brought on from PCOS and people I know who have it havent experienced that either.
gothicmess20 2 years ago
... ya... well, i started getting nausea once my period started (it's been goign on for about 4 months!!!)... but i'm goign to talk to my doctor!

Hi, i want some one to help me, im 17, i dont know weather i have got PCOS, but i deep down i believe do, im really upset at the moment and abit scared, i go college, and act as if im just a normal girl with my friends. i have looked up on PCOS, i have got almost every single symthom, and also i have got hirutism. i just dont know what to do, does this mean, when i grow up i wont be able to have a baby?
diarymilk1 2 years ago
I can understand being scared, but PCOS isn't too bad and gets easier to live with as time goes on, sometimes I forget I've even got it. I remember when I was first diagnosed at 20 I thought "I'll never have kids"... I'm 23 now and when I get financally stable I'll try for children.. and if I struggle there is help to conceive, so its really not the end of the world... I had a blood test yesterday to see if I have diabetes aswell now, so yeah, I'm pretty scared of that.
gothicmess20 2 years ago
hi everyone.

My diet now goes like this: Breakfast: a home made fruit smoothie and either cereal or crackers with peanut butter.
Lunch: Tuna salad or soup.
Dinner: balanced meal, protein, vegetables.
I drink plenty of water, and i work out every other day.
And its working :) so i'm happy that i'm overcoming it without use of meds :D
Roo1920 3 years ago
I was taking meds for it when i was 16, Metphormin, but it wasn;t doing me any good so i stopped taking it. I'm managing to overcome the inner symptoms on my own, without use of medication.
I'm 3rd generation in my family, my grandmother and my mother both had the condition, but in the era's they lived in PCOS was not a recognised medical problem, and they both turned out fine.
Roo1920 3 years ago
@Roo1920 Maybe you should try the naturopathic approach.

Roo1920 3 years ago
during pregnacy I felt great but now my daughter is 2 yrs old and I feel worse then ever has anyone had luck with finding some type of treatment? Birth control did not work for me I would go 39 days in a row and then 2 months without even on birth control.

& I know how hard it is for her to deal with that because she, Mona, wants children so bad but cant have them!
isabelgridley 4 years ago
and to see our baby sister, just messing up her life with different guys and having kids... well its hard for me. God Bless♥
isabelgridley 4 years ago
WoW Isabel!
I watched Mona's video and was so moved. I donated to her cause too. I hope everything works out with her surgery. I don't know if she has asked her doctor, but because of the inability to lose weight, they might put her on some sort of medication to help her. My doctor put me on Xenical, and I have lost 14 pounds in one month on it.
missnicole97801 4 years ago
oh wow.. thats awesome! Bless you so much!
isabelgridley 4 years ago
Yeah I am on Metformin too. I had problems at first but my body has adjusted and I am totally used to it now. I just feel so bad for Mona that her doctors wont listen to her...she really needs to go see someone else, because the doctor she has can do alot more then he/she is letting on. For starters, they can try clomid...something that would make her ovulate. 85% of women with PCOS get pregnant on clomid. Losing weight is good, but she has been trying long enough, she needs a baby!!!! ;-)
