  • did you ever practice alot?

  • Incredible!!!

  • Haha that was f##king super

  • Vous êtes vraiment trop fort !

    Bravo !!!!

  • This is great!

  • that scene in 'deliverance' has always creeped me out

  • quite funny..... nice to see you smile for once....lol

  • This is great... I've consulted your videos on both Foggy Mountain Breakdown and Cripple Creek for the banjo, and they have been extremely helpful. Thank you for your dedication to bluegrass music and learners like myself.

  • That was awesome! Very impressive. Do you offer any personal instruction via the internet or just the videos posted on YouTube? By the way, does it really matter if you don't anchor your ring finger on the head when playing? I feel that anchoring the pinky finger is stable enough and keeping both fingers down on the head seems to hinder my flexibility and right hand.

  • You sir, are amazing.

  • Rob...What is the hammer chord that you used at 1:11? It really gives great dimension to the licks.

  • That was GREAT!!!!

  • @TheGhost5600 Thanks. A moment of goofiness. My mom asked for it. What can you do?

  • What ya gotta do is have another set of hands come out from behind you, play the guitar at the same time, while your finshing of the tune with the banjo.

  • @magicman2001 That is a good idea.

  • Patently unwell. love it.

  • un-fuckin-believeable! This dude rawks!!

  • Who the hell would give this a thumbs down?

  • @blkfir I don't worry about that stuff. I was just goofing around.

  • I really need help with the banjo part in the middle with the really fast fingerpicking.

  • amazing

  • That's ridiculous man

  • Rob i wanna thank you for your cripple creek lesson on here. i just graduated high school and for my senior project i played the banjo. All it took was about a week of practice and i had it down pat and made a perfect score. I've been searching drastically for a dueling banjo lesson but i can't find any worth a darn. I wouldn't wanna take lessons from anybody but you, you're awesome!!! - Thanks Matt

  • Dear Rob Bourassa,

I'm with lITTLE COLONEL11 on this one, would you consider a Duelling Banjo's' tutorial in the same professional style as 'Cripple Creek'? there are a great deal of people willing to possibly pay for this!!

We all look forward to you your reply on this one :-)

  • Smart Arse,,,,,,

  • Beautiful! Thanks...

  • This is something Steve Martin would do haha.

  • @fgleich Yes, but he would make a lot of money for it.

  • it is almost like you have 4 hands!! :)) very funny! Do you tune the Banjo in 4ths to not get confused with the guitar tuning?

  • @realraven2000 No, just open G tuning. I have been playing long enough not to get confused.

Mandolin is the one that messes me up.

  • Very cool... :)

  • Rob, your videos always leave me smiling. You are the best.

  • I guess this one is pretty goofy.

  • absolutely wow! *****

  • One man duel! the best i have ever heard!

  • This guy has forgotten more than I'll ever learn......simply awesome videos.

  • You need eight arms. Mabey you should check into Krshna.

  • OMG! Rob, you are incredibly amazing! I am in awe at all your talents! Keep making music.... we love you!

  • Great stuff---Don't scratch that guitar. Maybe you need a double neck banjo/guitar. Do they make anyting like that?? Thanks for posting.

  • talk about genetic deficiencies. isn't that pitiful? lol

  • That's fantastic!!

  • OH MY GOD!

  • WOW! You should be out there touring, making records, doing session work, etc, etc. You are truly gifted!

  • Fantastic! However, the title of this tune has always perplexed me as it's really a banjo dueling with a guitar.

  • Arthur Smith wrote 'Feuding Banjos' in 1955 as a banjo duel between him and Don Reno. In 1972, the makers of the movie 'Deliverence' used the song and made it a banjo / guitar duel. Not only were they too stupid to figure out that this made the title 'Dueling Banjos' seem odd, they also forgot to credit Smith and Reno, who later sued for royalties, and won.

  • Very interesting! Thanks for the info - now the title makes more sense - sort of. : )

  • Jeez Rob! you are the man! I bet your some craic as we say in Ireland.

  • Thanks.

I bet a lot of people will be googling the word "craic" when they read this. I hadn't heard it before.

Here in Detroit, it's something you smoke. LOL

  • huge, no words!!!!!!!!!

  • brilliant, 12:42 AM and he's still up doing this. My kind of guy. Its no wonder people have stopped watching TV when you can get this at 1:20 in the morning !!!

  • Rob--I think the banjo won!;-)--thot the guitar was going to get the last word in, but I was wrong---this was too good, and a first viewing of such a feat for me.....!amazing....I'm going to get my hands on a banjo, somehow!--you entertain and inspire!

    thanks for that! LaurieLee

  • its so refreshing watching you cover so many styles.thanks

  • one word Brilliant!!!!

  • Wow, that's very awesome. Five Stars! You must have a Earl Scruggs CD somewhere in your house?

  • Rob, I still watch this at least once a day--still love it. Thanks for posting.

  • Hey Rob, That's nice and clean and fast switching. It's handy to have the open strings in the key of G when switching quickly. Nice work.

    Cheers, Tim.

  • cool,nice one,great movie

  • Great Job Rob :))

Looks like you're realy a Banjo Guy :)

    Jerry

  • Great, what a master

  • crazy but great lol delivernce

  • Excellent job! Gave you 5 stars.

  • haa purdy mouth..lol thats a good one..oh man.

  • creative i think you have pretty amazing banjo skills

  • I think he's got a purdy mouth....

  • You haven't seen my dental work.

  • Better watch out--you're a tamborine and a kazoo away from becoming a one-man-band! Great stuff!

  • I'm actually looking for the bass drum, knee cymbal motion activated apparatus for my day gig. I entertain outside, usually playing a six string banjo and singing Tin Pan Alley tunes. I think the one man band thing would really step things up for me. I'd probably lose a whole lot of weight by summers end as well.

  • Rob,

That is fabulous! I never picked up a banjo. I have my hands full learning ~more~ guitar. I have a nice 200 y/o german violin I want to learn to play someday. But I digress! Great Job! You elevated the Esteban!

Ty - waiting for my turn...

  • arent you the guy who plays the banjo at greenfield village in the summer? cool

  • Yes, I am entering my 13th year there. I have been working with the girls trio more the last few years, so I don't play the banjo as much as I used to. Thanks for remembering. Introduce yourself the next time you're out there.

  • You have made many people very happy!

    Love you :)

  • So have you. I love you too Julie.

  • Thanks Hat.

  • Wow, I'm just blown away. Very nice work as usually!

  • Rob, you have far to many teeth to be playing this. It is most excellent and reminds me of the

last time I was on the Saco River in a canoe, my wife told me urgently, paddle faster, I hear a banjo.

    As always Rob, marvelous.

  • Rob, I just keep watching this with a big smile on my face. I really like this one.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been waiting to hear you do this. Great job.
