  • It's not because it's different that it's good. can be both weird and shitty. Just saying.

  • What kind of pick ups is he using?

  • Scaring the locals since 1979.

  • I legitimately cannot describe how amazingly badass that was.

  • Wow, right away I recognize that MA is using sounds from the album "Music for Bondage Performance 2". Killer!

  • SEA WASTE!

  • hello i am a musician

great can i hear some of your stuff

why sure good sir FSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH KURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Why do people assume that anything weird is "genius" or "artistic." if I shit on the floor, would you people call it "art that's just too deep for most people to understand?"

  • @whitehaaji No, because nothing is too deep for one to understand. What's great about abstract art is that most pieces force you to think outside of the stereotypical limitations of more "traditional art", and in turn, rethinking what art really is. I love Merzbow, but I don't think it's genius. I think he's just making art.

To answer your question, I would consider your shit art if you presented it as such, and not as an attempt to insult someone who enjoys expressing themselves.

  • @whitehaaji The difference is that it actually takes Merzbow effort and work to create this. It sonically may just sound like random noise, but there is extreme effort put into this work, unlike shitting on the floor, which anyone can do. It takes time and patience to do what Merzbow does.

  • @whitehaaji it's not "genius" or "artistic" because it's weird, that's what YOU asume! that like if a person think Lady Gaga is crap and then says "why is crap so popular? if i crap on the floor will it be popular too?", no..

  • Hey mom, that guy raped my ears.

  • Doctor said I need some good relaxing music to help me sleep. This seems fine.

  • excellent!

  • Great

  • I FART OSMIUM

  • I love all kinds of noise Merzbow Namanax atrax morgue... The pure sounds make you take the time to listen to them and apreciate them for what they are...

  • merzbow is really good to get rid of annoying people.

if some guy who thinks he is something comes up to you and won't leave,

try merzbow. also, jehova's witnesses probably cry over this

  • @Osthropek yeah, you've proven that even jehova's witnesses have better taste

  • @SeoTaijiboy nice comeback dude

  • @SeoTaijiboy

That said, I knew some JW's that listened to Merzbow, Massona, Hanatarash etc etc when my family was associated with those cult folk.

  • Old school Merzbow. Nice.

  • KRUNCHYY!

  • This is Sonic Art.

  • woooow, this is great!

  • THIS IS ART

  • toxic ingredients in the famous blue paint used by klein is said to have killed him.

will the frequencies in the noise merzbow makes have the same effect and kill him?

    !!!

  • ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is that woman on the right side Reiko Azuma?

  • great video great song thx 4 shareing 5 star 4 YOU ! ! !

  • Life is noise.

  • Absolutely.

  • who is the girl? reiko azuma?

  • Perhaps so.

  • Haha, this is genious!!!

  • XD I know

  • in witch way

  • The right way.

  • thats not a valid respoce

  • WTF?

  • so damn powerfull god i love this kind of shit. the type that mengele could dance to while choping his victims.

  • putain ça cogne dur!!!! woooooo!!!!!!!

  • lmao the people on the street think they must be in the wrong fucking movie love it...

    noise destroys all

  • i... i dont understand. could someone send me to some kind of reference? someone told me to check out merzbow, and i did, and im terribly confused.

  • 7:18

i love the outro! well done!

  • i HATE IT!!! (That means i love it :P)

  • This is amazing.

  • ohh and theses guy are one hit wonder only, radio play for them caused big money fan only once

  • It's a shame Merzbow had to retire after "like a virgin". :(

  • People who makes noise wears noise specific garb: gas mask, particle board pant (single), hat with tomato colored eye hole, assorted washer, assorted color patch

  • WOW!

  • i want to see more of those chicks rubbing blue paint onto eachother... but totally fucking up the everday operation of a bus terminal with a crazy japanese guy in a gas mask is good too

  • terrorisme sonore total . les scenes filmées en exterieur me font penser à andré breton, qui declarait que l'acte surrealiste ultime etait de descendre dans la rue avec un pistolet, et de tirer au hasard dans la foule.

  • it's an expression of self. there's chaos in noise, just pure chaos, but also structure under the surface and many other beautiful things. you either get it or you don't. the fact that you hate it proves it is doing it's job.

  • really? that's weird.

  • i think both of you are right, and i like merzbow. its all the way you perceive it. i like other forms of music too and myself don't think i could feel good making stuff like this but he seems to be happy with it, as he has loads of albums. and he did play normal melody based music in the beginning.

  • well to each their own, right? i honestly tried to like this, but it just won't click with me. i don't want to bash it since others do like it so i'll just leave it at that.

but hey, i like the idea behind this "music." i may incorporate in my music in some way.

  • haha yea i think its best if its used inside of a song middle or start or the end. i was listening to him this morning and i was just thinking this must be the silliest thing ever , but i listened to him all day today so i don't know maybe hes doing something right.

  • lol if it ain't broken, then don't fix it. if you get somebody to keep on listening to it, then like you said, merzbow has to be doing something right.

and that's what i was saying on how you could have stuff like this in a middle of a song or at the ending of it. kind of like how pink floyd had a lot sound effects in their music, it helped bask the ambiance and mood in their music and i like the idea behind this kind of music.

  • ok, so i have to say, noise music and especially merzbow has taken over my ears. i used to hate the idea of noise music and never understood its purpose or the beauty of it. but, now it is like a light has switched in my head. i am just glad that there are people, creative enough and open minded enough to let this genre exist.

  • To the person who asked about what people who like noise wear? What has clothing got to do with musical preference. All my friends are noise fans or noise artists. We're normal, everyday people. Some work for the government, some work in libraries, some are even the people who deliver your mail. Get over it, it's an art form.

  • just try TACUARA NOD, available on youtube

  • this is pure existentialist Art,unrestricted powerful statement of hate. this chaotic noise sounds like magic to my brain!.

I mean don't get me wrong, i still drink my beer just like you!

  • It's not music. I'll say that much. That being said, I love it. What he is trying to accomplish is blocking out all thoughts in your mind. Sensory overload, if you must. When this occurs, the extra voices in your head (everyone has them) just seem to disappear. All good and bad thoughts halt.

As for my music tastes, I am very partial to Shostakovich, Sibelius, and Holst, and bands such as Between the Buried and Me, Coheed and Cambria, Damien Rice, etc etc. Just have to be open to like this.

  • its simply about seeking 'non default' states of consciousness, and it has changed how i hear every sound

  • Hmmmm my hobbies are collecting records, going to the movies, going to garage sales, collecting antiques. I live in southern california and I am a vegetarian. I love this type of stuff. Right now I am naked and listening to NON. Before that I had on some black Dickies pants and a Wrangler western shirt. I work with special needs adults. Hell, I love this music and I could be your next door neighbor.

  • I love it and call it music. I plussed your comment, squibbon, because I love the idea of being an obese spice baron form the future. I love records, science, art, wine and dem hoez. I am vegetarian. I aim to dress like the suave European. It's all good.

  • Merzbow is music - all sound is music! I live for nature records art and sound. I like eating cold cucumber soup with croutons. I have exquisite taste. Rock on.

  • I don't get people being angry at others opinions??? Who cares if they don't like it? What are you insecure and 10 years old? Truth of the matter is it's suppose to be abrasive, his art represents the chaos that surrounds us. It's obtuse and painful. That's the point. If people leave negative comments then his message is coming through as intended.

  • They're insecure because only a small minority appreciate it.

Honestly noise is not my thing....it gives me a headache and i dont get an adrenaline rush from it.

Venetian Snares is my favorite artist and I like m1dy as well, and they're about as close to "noise" as i'll get.

  • whats with people who come here just to say "this is shit?" cant you just listen to music you like and leave us enjoy ours?

  • Respect! Couldn't have said it better! Whoever it was that said this was shit should eat shit! Just go away! Try Britney instead!

  • @thewarggoath oh you haven't heard? Low confidence people have to always promote their taste over other's to try to confirm themselves as "superior"

  • dont be sorry, but I don't understand why? is there a reason? I'd love to hear that

  • ITS NOT MUSIC!

    Its noise!

    And its great.

  • That you would want to smear all over your body.

  • your a lot of shit

  • As Merzbow said, "I do not make music, I make noise"

So if you come here for "music" then you will be sorely disappointed

  • awesome wall of sounds, so much depth and texture. it sounds easy to make, but to keep it captivating for 8 minutes is no easy feat.

the video was typically mysterious and enigmatic, but i still can't get over the audio overload. and i can't believe i saw him live years ago (with mike patton) and it just didn't work for me back then. maybe the acoustics were shit because it just sounded the same all night...

  • やばすぎる なんだこの映像 衝撃

  • The most beutiful thing that I have ever heard. It is the gentle sounds of a brook not to far away, the sound of bids singing as a couple picknicks on a green medow, and not far away, is the sound of a rock concert joined with the screams of chainsaws and people screaming before they are slaughtered by a million Paul Bunyans with chainsaws. Isn't it beutiful?

  • you try to hard

  • you try to hard

  • you try to hard

  • god this stuff rules

  • also can someone explain what dude is doing @4:30

  • it looks like he's picking up change

  • this is AMAZING and some of the bus people's expressions are priceless. also wtf is that @ 6:05?

  • Someone peeing

  • Masami is God!!!!!! %-O

  • I wish there were more buskers like Merzbow.

  • gogo melemo

  • this is genious

  • yay for cultural stereotypes, now go drink bleach. thank you.

  • I love Merzbow. Talk about social courage! ...or maybe it's just misanthropy.

  • WTF at the guy pissin'

  • this is some art.Thats all.

  • is this overdubbed or is it the real recording?

  • Merzbow: Guilty of shitting on the beatles

  • someone had to shit on the comfy boundaries of music most people rely on. otherwise we'de never have ground breaking music or true artistic expression - just a bunch of bands from millennia ago that people accept made music 'what it is' and they can just relax knowing their perception of it will never be challenged and they will never have to worry about seeing things differently.

  • 5 stars! I love merzbow!!! Best music ever!!!

  • personally merzbow shits on the beatles.

  • my first comment was copi9ed from the one above

  • Exactly! Anyone can make shit like this... But why don't they? Merzbow and the rest of the noise crowd DO make it, because nobody else does! The are SOME people who understand the meaning behind noise. I'll admit that making noise takes almost NO TALENT AT ALL. HOWEVER, it does take creativity, and SOME form of emotion.

  • Right... I recorded 7 tracks of high-speed drum improvisation which took no talent but the end result is what's important. I mean, at least I had the idea to record 7 anti-rhythm drums tracks. No one else did, to my knowledge.

  • did that sort of thing once while tripping - sounded like a load of angry chimps let loose in a recording studio - and that is in no way a bad thing

  • That's awesome... is it posted on your channel (or anywhere else, for that matter?)

  • nobody makes noise like merzbow

    NOBODY

and there is a tallent to noise

its not as easy as turning some distortion pedal on with a mic in the input and expecting it to sound good

  • Noise is about finding sounds that you like, which, while by no means is a talentless task, is much easier than composing music by following traditional song structures.

  • make it easy.. Noise is an art.. you have to put your own mind and thoughts in it.

  • youre all tardz doo

  • We're not gonna take it!

NO, we ain't gonna take it!

    We're not gonna "it"...

    ANY MORE!!!

(christ, I think we accidentally took it)

  • Well, maybe every idiot can make that, but somehow they don't :)

It takes a Merzbow to get You hooked to the screen for 8 minutes watching a guy standing in the middle of a street and a guy pissing on a bus.

Then, it takes a few noise-fans to call it ART :)

    Unfortunately, they are right.

  • its just random fuckage. five stars1!

  • yah, and masami did. what's your point. it's his expression, his extreme vision, and the best way to show poeple new ideas, sometimes, is just to force it upon them and watch their reaction.

  • like this one thx

  • bleeeee merzb((o))w blllleeeee!!!

  • Merzbow is the past, present and future of Noise

    Art

  • dont talk for 9 years

  • Awesome! I love Merzbow

  • Breece is the word

  • wheres the talent in music now days

  • and what do you define as talent? what makes you think this is talent? this is an extreme form of artistic expression, and the fact that most people don't understand it is what makes it so beautiful. it's not pleasant to listen to and sometimes it can be very disturbing - that's the very essence of noise. don't assume masami akita and others are not talented jsut because ti's an art form you can't comprehend.

  • outstanding

  • How NICE :)

  • Very Good! Thanks Fou Your Share
