Question for the in coming Minister of Labour regarding security guard what plan do you have for us in areas of pregancy and the terms contract workers (some managers stop us from work once they found out ),and i dont think this category as contract workers is fair(managers)sent u home for 2 weeks on contract break with no pay yet we are not entitled to no forms of benefits if we are sick we have to sent in sick leave yet we dont receive any benefits,we are mostly single women we have kids HELP
awesome speech Mrs.Simpson-Miller all those who died was'nt in vain especailly (the man who left us in portland)and the late David Coore, the first am voting and i didnt regret it big up to The Governor, also Mr.Crawford,Luther Buchanan,Mikail Phillips, thumbs up to Horace Daley and Richard Azan- Colin Campbell i luv u but betta luck next time u are not a loser as long as Mama P is at the head u will neva lose, but hard work is a head so hold ur head high and let us work 2gether.
hopefully this idiot doesn't make any decisions. Dr peter Philips and pikers-gill don't like her and they are the biggest crooks. peter Phillips a carry bad feeling about loosing to Portia.
Small cabinet must be state that will show us how much she has grown in understanding the positon we.re in as a nation plus it will also send out a signal that she has not sold out by rewarding people with postions at our expense. A small cabinet will tell us she means business and it's not business as usual. She echoed it in the debate that we.re in a CRISIS. We don't need any free loaders to dip in our purse. We need people that are above what we've seen B4. WI F-up the JLP & Wi will F-up U2
I hope that PORTIA generates what we know she is capable of doing for this nation. I think the poor man PM is here .The ideological atmosphere of the 70's are no loner here. She might do what michael manley had failed to achieved in the wrong era. This era is ripe for that approach in stabilizing the economy. The state and the private sector in cohesiveness is not a bad idea. Partnership must be the buzz word on everybody's lips.
This paradigm shift is related to governance of which Bruce Golding spoke about while forming the NDM. We 're a long long way off of gaining any ascendency as far as that is concerns. We've a deep cultural problem in regards to "anancyism". We pride ourselves in that while displaying a twisted & hypocritical mind set when viewing our leaders from any area of civil society when we're basically of the same cultural framework. We as a people need to change to produce the CHANGE for JA
@plnthn Thank you very much! I am 20 year old Jamaican who have earned a scholarship and is presently attending the New York University where i am studying Psychology. I know im still very young & have a lot to learn but when i read these comments and see whats goin on in the country of my birth it saddens and depresses me to the core. I am; however, happy to read your comment because this assured me that all is not gone in Jamaica, Thanks very much for making my day,
Also I don't know anything about HIM. He made a fatal mistake by taking over a wounded party, whatever good intentions he might have had for us all. If he had made some decisive actions against is own party publicly irrespective of whatever sound bites the then opposition might have extracted & used in their campaign, we would have stood by him when he had made all of those late decisons before an election knowing he is seeking his own made date to carve out a niche and set off a paradigm shift
I'm not an educated man, I'm what you referred to as a street smart specialist but I love to reason and I have a vested interest in who governs me. I have 5 kidz (2) daughters & (3) sons ages between 6-17. They're my investment to our nation. I want the very best for them, and I will not accept nothing less from anyone who take the oaths to lead this nation. I did not like the clouds that surrounded andrew holness, that egotistical aura is dangerous to the little man in street , I didn't trust it
The stake holders of this blessed nation must be engaged as quickly as possible by our new administration. They're no honeymoons,Portia and her handlers must carefully put in place compitent personnels in the different posts so as to show investors that JA is all ears to listening, very much engaging and ready to work out stuffs for the benefit of all the stake holders. Long, mid and short term plans are paramount, astuteness in handling the job creation promises must be a high priority.
The problem with polical landscape of many yrs.was a lack of continuity. Our tribalistic nature have cost us dearly. I've personally seen some changes in this area but must not stop there. There are alot of GOOD stuff fleshed out by the past administration that MUST continue by the in coming administration especially in regards to GOVERNANCE. The people are begging for that and will not settle for less, corruptions are quite evident in both parties,no accountabillity must be a thing of the past.
The in coming administration MUST take notes of what had happened to the out going administration because if they failed to do so they might be decimated at the next poll. The number one objective of the New Team is our super fragile economy plus the social structures that depends on it,if these are not tackle with acuity, pragmatically, transparency and a 20/20 vision of where we want to in next couple of yrs, bearing in mind we're in a tight global village and we're extremely small in size
Whe we break down the election results into analytic data we can see that it was a relatively very close election, the manatt/dudus/tivoli/bruce's blunder had an enormous effect on the JLP demise at the polls. People on the lower strata of our society also felt that the out going administration had lost touch with the common man/woman. Their arrogance was obvious especially in the dudus/manatt affair and the new and different approached promised by fomer JLP leader was an insult to the people
It is quite obvious that some people are still hooked on the fact that Portia & the PNP pull off a coup on Andrew Holness & the JLP,while a minority of our population went out on election day have now decided our future and we have to accept that while you sit down at shut the F-up or did not do anything to changed the outcome. I must congratulate Portia & the PNP for doing what they know best and that is to pull-out all the stops when it matters most.
What was the percentage of registered voters that voted in this election? Landslide victories can also be quite misleading, because the opposing parties constituents may also be so disenchanted and disillusioned with the whole process. I hope Jamaica is ready for the IMF and the other "Powers" that because the island couldn't stand any more "Problems Mon!"
I cannot believe that you people think this woman can lead the country. Absolutely shameful to watch. Keep on cheering i hope the woman who thanks everyone in the whole country will do it justice.
Congratulations to Mrs Simpson. I hope you will do as you have promised and represent the needs of all Jamaicans. If divided, Jamaica will continue to fall, but if united, Jamaica will prosper.
