@msp328is wow, handheld tuner really does that much? Guy in the cobra wasn't even shifting it hard and the BMW got smashed. E46 or newer M3 is what needed to line up against the cobra. The 335i is a nice car, but it would need a lot more than an intake and tune to run a terminator...
@BMWM5 Thats not a different handheld tuner...thats full exhaust on top of the stuff he already has, possibly with a different tuner..You also have to consider the cobra has bolt on loudmouths and a smaller pulley. Intake, tuner, and full exhaust on the cobra...cobra victory. Not harping on the 335i, nice cars. 3.0L twin turbo is obviously stout. Terminators are just bad.
@BMWM5 sounds like the 335i is definitely a good matchup for a terminator, seeing as how both cars respond to bolt-ons very well, and are probably pretty close in weight! Either way, both cars are pretty cool. Would like to see a re-match with more mods on both sides!

i hate when morons cry about the supercharger on the cobra's! They are one of the best cars for under 40 grand! There motors can handle a shit load of power thanx to the forged internals, they are the fastest car you can get and cheapest to mod for under 40 grand! Most people say "put a supercharger on my car and see what happens" yea thats fine and dandy but a aftermarket blower for most cars wont push more than 10psi cus the motors cant take it, swap a kenne bell on a cobra and run over 20psi
Give me the cobra any day of the week. Replace the stock eaton with a kenne bell and omfg.. you'll be pushing 600 hp with the pulley upgrade you already have.

First of all both of these cars aren't going fast enough for that, and second you would hear the turbos on BMW, even with a full exhaust and all the silencing techniques used today. @mine1username you were born lastnight then. A bmw 335i is indeed a twin turbo charged 3.0 liter v-6. Simply look it up. Not every instance of forced induction is done specifically for maximum power gains. They're also done for economics and fuel economy. Turbos can be a way of replacing power if a car company decides to go with a smaller engine with less displacement. Not every turbo is super loud. Nor does every turbo make a car super fast.

Especially given gas prices and the downfall of having to have a 6.2 liter to make 426 hp and being able to do it with a 4.6.thats supercharged. You also have to consider the price point. A corvette z06 makes 510 hp with a 7 liter. This cobra can make that with a simple pulley upgrade. That's the advantage.
@odessaboy - Yes I understand "why" they use them, but for pure racing reasons I'd rather come to the race and say that I won it without the need of forced induction or nitrous for that matter. I completely agree with you about the advantages of running a turbo, I just believe bragging rights should be based on an engine that can hang on it's own. The 4.6 cannot do this. My 4.4 liter in my 740il will destroy a stock mustang gt 4.6 in the mid to high range. The gt will get me down low I admit tho

@dundonrl ive seen a 03 mach 1 stroked to a 5.3 with a F1R procharger at 23psi, it made 1045hp... and i read that those prochargers have been known to blow blocks right in half lol thats just insane
@suepsetts And yes I know the 335i's are fast. That's my point. The bimmer is fast naturally aspirated and the mustang needs the help of a supercharger. I will say though, the new coyote 5.0 from ford (naturally aspirated) will kick any cobra's ass. The 4.6's are just paper weights unless boosted with turbos or superchargers. Absolutely guttless torque from these 4.6's.

@mine1username I will say you're wrong. They both run 12.7 average in the quarter mile. And put a pullie on an 03 cobra and watch that car dyno at over 500 hp to the crank.. the 5.0, yeah, not so much. Intake, exhaust, and a tune on a 4.6 and you can be at over 400 hp. It doesn't take much to open those engines up. Ford tuned those 4.6's conservatively for everyday driving and for economics. Plus from 03-09 ford didn't have any pony car competition for their "boat anchor" to worry about.

@afgandominator - I see your point. I guess for me to judge how good an engine is, I judge it by how much it makes on it's own. I think Lamborghini has the best developed engine to date, with the totally new engine in the Aventador. It has something like 1.7 to 1.8 horsepower per cubic inch. If I'm not mistaken, that is the most per cubic inch on a stock production engine. When you start talking about boost, you can no longer talk in hp/displacement because it now displaces more than w/o boost

Acceleration does not make a better car. The Cobra is a nice, fast car. The BMW is a different car altogether. For those who think a BMW is "shit" ask yourself one thing, why does every other car manufacture or reviewer always compare to a BMW or Mercedes? Answer; they make an all around great vehicle.
I drive a 96' cobra with bolt ons, and ive ran with the same car. If this 03 is having problems pulling away from that 335i, then something is wrong. My $6,800 96' cobra kept rite with the 60,000$ bmw on the strait, and in the corners. Im not being a dick, or know it all, im just stating facts from my personal experience.
@dijhili and im guessing you are in love with the fast and furious series? yea you are. 9/10 people build their street cars for straight line performance, you never see fast and furious street racing like that (ripping corners at 90mph) people build their street cars for power, occasionally ive seen anti-sway bars, brakes, & other handling upgrades, other than that everyones $ goes into the engine and tires for the most part. if you wana worry about turning, then you should race on a track!

@need2speed94 Cornering isn't the only part of handling. The handling of a car in a straight line is very important. Stiffer suspension, lowering kit, swaybars, etc will all affect the way a car handles at 100+ mph even in a straight line.
For example, if you hit 110 mph in a truck, its shaking and bouncing all over the place.
You could hit 150mph in a porsche and it will still feel the same as going 50mph. So yes, straight line handling DOES MATTER!
@Clementsfootball08 ill tell u right now if you want better traction at speed im not sure why you would want a very stiff suspension, at least in the rear. otherwise you can transfer as much weigh to the tires for extra grip.
@dijhili take a look at what the 03-04 cobras will do on the track with irs rears... in coupe form it will outhandle, out brake, and outperform the 335 in all aspects. in this case the bimmer is just outclassed.
The funny thing is that all this cobra really had going for it over a stock cobra was the pullie upgrade. These cobra's are just beasts. Damn shame they dont make em anymore.

@castersen13 it's a known fact, the 335i is a beast with a simple $600 chip. With the chip (JB3) and a few bolt ons, it blows the doors off the new M3. I have friends running low 11's on stock turbos and full bolt ons. It'll take 10x the amount of money to run low 11's in the new M3, let alone u would spend $15k more just for the M3 itself.

Is it me or is that not a real 03 cobra. After watching that video I realized I dont hear the winding of the supercharger.Unless he had the supercharger off and was racing N/A.03 cobra you can hearing supercharger whisling and winding and its loud too.You dont hear it in this video at all.

I didnt know 335i was a race car.I always thought they were cheap slow BMWS. A JB4 PNP tune for the 335i adds 80 HP to the wheels if it's stock.
If the 335i has an intake, exhaust, headers, etc.. you could see up to 180 HP added to the wheels.

@odessaboy - Yes I understand "why" they use them, but for pure racing reasons I'd rather come to the race and say that I won it without the need of forced induction or nitrous for that matter. I completely agree with you about the advantages of running a turbo, I just believe bragging rights should be based on an engine that can hang on it's own. The 4.6 cannot do this. @mine1username i hate when people wine about the supercharger on the cobras, and trust me if u take the blower off of the cobra, its not just a 4.6l GT, The cobras have a completely different engine, all forged internals, aluminum block, capable of 1000hp easy before u have to take apart the motor, yea ur stock 4.4l may smoke a stock gt, so? they are slow, A Cobra is a farrrrr cry from being a gt it has alot more than just a blower, not to mention cost a shit load less than a 740i,

@suepsetts And yes I know the 335i's are fast. That's my point. The bimmer is fast naturally aspirated and the mustang needs the help of a supercharger. I will say though, the new coyote 5.0 from ford (naturally aspirated) will kick any cobra's ass. The 4.6's are just paper weights unless boosted with turbos or superchargers. Absolutely guttless torque from these 4.6's.

@mine1username I will say you're wrong. They both run 12.7 average in the quarter mile. And put a pullie on an 03 cobra and watch that car dyno at over 500 hp to the crank.. the 5.0, yeah, not so much. Intake, exhaust, and a tune on a 4.6 and you can be at over 400 hp. It doesn't take much to open those engines up. Ford tuned those 4.6's conservatively for everyday driving and for economics. Plus from 03-09 ford didn't have any pony car competition for their "boat anchor" to worry about.

@odessaboy You missed my point about the 4.6. You're saying it can make 500 with a "pulley". That proves my point that you need a supercharger for the 4.6 to make any power. Show me a 4.6 that makes 500 hp naturally aspirated, and without nitrous being added. My guess is you won't be able to show me one.

@afgandominator - Dude I LOVE the new coyote motor. I've said this since it came about. The 4.6 mod motors suck horribly NA but the coyote is probably one of the very best engines to ever come about. The 4.6 is nothing but a boat anchor. That's why it "needs" boost to make enough power to compete with todays competition.

@afgandominator - I see your point. I guess for me to judge how good an engine is, I judge it by how much it makes on it's own. I think Lamborghini has the best developed engine to date, with the totally new engine in the Aventador. It has something like 1.7 to 1.8 horsepower per cubic inch. If I'm not mistaken, that is the most per cubic inch on a stock production engine. When you start talking about boost, you can no longer talk in hp/displacement because it now displaces more than w/o boost

I drive a 96' cobra with bolt ons, and ive ran with the same car. If this 03 is having problems pulling away from that 335i, then something is wrong. My $6,800 96' cobra kept rite with the 60,000$ bmw on the strait, and in the corners. Im not being a dick, or know it all, im just stating facts from my personal experience.
Both cars are awsome.

@need2speed94 Cornering isn't the only part of handling. The handling of a car in a straight line is very important. Stiffer suspension, lowering kit, swaybars, etc will all affect the way a car handles at 100+ mph even in a straight line.
For example, if you hit 110 mph in a truck, its shaking and bouncing all over the place.
You could hit 150mph in a porsche and it will still feel the same as going 50mph. So yes, straight line handling DOES MATTER!

@castersen13 it's a known fact, the 335i is a beast with a simple $600 chip. With the chip (JB3) and a few bolt ons, it blows the doors off the new M3. I have friends running low 11's on stock turbos and full bolt ons. It'll take 10x the amount of money to run low 11's in the new M3, let alone u would spend $15k more just for the M3 itself.

Is it me or is that not a real 03 cobra. After watching that video I realized I dont hear the winding of the supercharger.Unless he had the supercharger off and was racing N/A.03 cobra you can hearing supercharger whisling and winding and its loud too.You dont hear it in this video at all.

I didnt know 335i was a race car.I always thought they were cheap slow BMWS. I smoked them with a stock 1998 cobra N/A engine on the freeway all the time.The BMW drivers always look surprised when I smoke em..I hate BMW drivers they are rude and always try to cut me off.That guy was stupid for even thinking of racing a supercharged cobra.When I procharge my car it will even be more beastly than the 03 cobra.

@fpomes14 Is it manual or stick?But if I was going to put money on a race,I would put it on th M3.The M3 is a different class of car than your car.It probably has better suspension and gearing too.HP doesnt mean anything unless you have the supension and gearing to back it up.If you were going to spend a lot of money supping up you 335i.You might have just spend the extra money on a new M3.And sup up the M3 if your not satisfied with the HP.
