The only way Vice works is when it ignores all the bad new format issues. It's supposed to be filmed properly with a trademark score, and the main characters should ignore/poke fun at any bad fashion. They're supposed to expose and bust frauds, not promoting them.

I was there from day one of the Miami Vice remake. I knew it wasn't going going to succeed, they got the wrong actors, wrong music, and an okay script. Too bad it was shot mainly at night, that was my main complaint about the film, not like the original. They even went over budget on this film.

Fantastic concept and editing. In my opinion, the original music and dialogue, in the exact places you've chosen, would've been the perfect choice. The TV show would've made an excellent film. The movie was an abortion as are virtually all remakes. Regardless of my preference as an audience member, I applaud your effort. It's always the option of the artist who takes the time and effort to create who rightfully gets the last vote.

Universal missed a golden opportunity to launch a Miami Vice movie franchise with the original cast. Their chemistry, combined with a top-notch budget, and no network censors to flag anything they deem inappropriate...and you've got one of the biggest movie franchises of the 1980s. We can always go back to the TV show for the '80s glam. I'm glad the movie was different in tone, look and mood. The Miami of today is different, as is the drug trade. It's gone more global. At first, before the movie came out, I thought they should have paid homage to the 80s show by remaking it, but I'm glad the movie's more dark and moody.

I initially thought the same thing. I wanted a movie that recaptured the 80s, with a knowing wink, and perhaps even a bit of self parody -- done in a smart way, of course. And that movie could still be made, but I ended up liking the movie a lot. No, it's not perfect, the script could have used some polish, and it wasn't an untroubled set, but we all still have the 80s TV show to watch when we want to get our Miami Vice kick. I don't know if a "remake" of the show would be an improvement.
