I haven't crocheted in years,yet you walked me thru nice and easily and at a pace I could handle. The first couple rows are a little messy but I think I'm getting it! Thank you.

Yes you can use any size hook... just keep in mind the smaller the hook the smaller your blanket will be... 4 ply yarn is fine. Let me know if you have any more questions. Happy Crocheting :-)
