  • The purpose of life is a billion things but in the end you die!

  • My meaning of life is to have fun and discover new things.

  • @pok282 I like that a lot!

  • [purpose of life? the purpose of life is not to score points for the afterlife but to enjoy make the world yours, do something that will make a difference to the living not the dead.

  • +1 youprobzwilllaugh. More insightful than what you could possibly describe with words.

  • The meaning of life is to know God and enjoy him forever.

  • i think you may have the answer. God bless

  • Define God please.

  • In attempting to define God, I would die before scratching the surface. God has revealed Himself throughout history, and God uses people to show Himself, but "defining" Him would be an unending task. If you want to know God, seek Him with your whole heart. God not only exists, but is seeking you. You will never know real peace in you life--your soul will never be satisfied--until you seek and find God through Jesus Christ. This is the honest and blunt truth.

  • Further, getting saved, going to heaven, and receiving blessings were never the point. These things are happy side-effects, but they are not the point. Jesus came that you might know God--that you might regain daily life with God just as Adam and Eve had in the cool of the evening walking in the Garden. Every time we try to live life separate from God, we are joining Adam and Eve in that first sin, knowing our own good and evil. Jesus, however, lived in reliance on God living in relationship.

  • That is why Jesus prayed in John 17 that we might be one with God the same way that He was one with God--as human beings, living life in God's presence and by His word, doing and teaching and living out the things we see and hear the Father doing and saying. It is the inclination of man's heart to do whatever seems good, but this has always lead to destruction. Therefore turn away from living life by your own ideas, and have faith in Jesus Christ that you can know and love God.

  • So, you're basically saying that you can never define God. But then right afterwards you define "him" as a male. Super cool non definition, my friend.

  • God revealed himself as male, not me. I'm only speaking what God has already revealed. What are your thoughts on the rest of what I shared?

  • The rest of what you shared is a carbon copy of what every other Christian shares. It's a nice story - a personification of what universal truth is, like the animals that comprise the constellations in the sky, along with their individual stories. It helps those who wish to make the intangible tangible. I'm not saying it's universal truth - I'm just saying it's a personification of universal truth.

  • Actually, most "christians" will tell you to get saved so you can live a blessed life and go to heaven when you die. I'm telling you that the purpose and most fulfilling thing in life is know God himself--not his blessings. Heaven will be just like Hell if God is not there. Living your life separate from God right now, even if you had all the riches in the world, is totally unfulfilling--yet so many choose to do just that, not knowing that they could know God, His word, and His love.

  • I do know God, I can assure you that, maybe more than you know "him".

My perspective of "God", however, is very much different than yours. It does not include books from the Christian (or any other world religion, for that matter) bibles, it does not incorporate certain tasks we must accomplish or even believing in people of the past as saviors. It includes one simple rule: you must believe in yourSELF. From my perspective, we are all little bits of "God" - we, as living beings, *are* God.

  • We were created with God's image, so you are close in what you say. But when you say you believe in yourself, you are doing what almost every human being has been doing since time immemorial. It always leads to destruction, because you can't approach God intellecutally--you aren't smart enough (neither am I). God will only be known by faith, which means you must drop your own ideas and follow His ideas. They are laid out in scripture...if you want to really know Him and not your own imagination.

  • This world with all it's foolish ideas will tell you to "follow your heart", "do what seems right", "find your own purpose, whatever makes you happy". This is exactly what Adam and Eve did when they ate of the knowledge of good and evil. They wanted to know their own definitions of right and wrong separate from God. They gave up relationship with God to imagine their own destinies. Since that time, men and women have constantly sought to live life separate from God, following their own hearts.

  • When you say "you must believe in yourSELF" you are not saying something new or profound. You are continuing the original lie and the original sin. If you want to know God, turn away from "belief in self" and start believing in the One He sent. Until then, you will always be searching, never satisfied, always relying on self, never satisfied, always set against anyone who thinks they have an answer...and never satisfied. God Himself desires to be the satisfaction of your soul--seek Him.

  • I never said I knew God/myself *intellectually*. I have a solid foundation of spirituality that does not include the Christian story of God (the bible)... for you to tell me that I am wrong is only affirming that you are not able to let others believe what they wish. It is very egocentric.

Furthermore, I am satisfied with my life. If I died in 5 minutes, I would have no regret, fear or doubt. However, I have always seen fear in Christianity. Why have fear when "God" is on your side, anyhow?

  • I neither hinder you nor allow you to believe anything--how would that be possible? I am simply sharing the truth with you as God leads me.

  • You do hinder me, by claiming that your persective is the *only* perspective, and all others are simply wrong. You are hindering me by telling me things like "..turn away from "belief in self" and start believing in the One He sent."

I respect your perspective. Can you not respect mine without trying to "save" me? I hate it when people try to convince others of their perceived "truth". It's ignorant in my eyes not to be open to other beliefs - not to embrace them, but listen and gain knowledge.

  • I am not sharing perceived truth, I am sharing truth. You do not have to accept it. I do not respect your perspective, because it is a lie--it came from a liar. It is not even "your" perspective, but the same perspective that mankind has had from the beginning. I cannot save you, but God wants to, if you will seek Him. I am giving you what God has shown me and I am speaking as God leads me. I'm not arguing with you; this isn't a debate; I am giving you truth. You can count on it.

  • You, sir, are an arrogant, egotistical and tunnel visioned fuck, aren't you? Fancy me this, Kangaruhs:

What do you say to the millions who have the SAME AMOUNT of passion for their faith as you do yours? Would you simply say they are WRONG and that you have no respect their perspectives, as you do me?

You are brainwashed by religion, sir... It's nothing new, though, I see it everywhere.

    Baaaa-a-a-a-a-a. That's a sheep. ;)

Whatever makes you happy and keeps you "safe" from learning, I guess.

  • You are right, I am a sheep. And you are right, I do not respect lies. But I do respect you--which is why I'm sharing the truth with you. It would disrespectful to lie to you.

  • It is your perspective that I am wrong. It is my perspective that you are wrong. There isn't really a respectable way to force one another to believe the others' perspective. It's as simple as that.

And the Earth keeps on spinning, with or without us. How small we are, eh?

  • That's for sure.

  • We are here to help one another. That is what my shrink says. I think he is so well fitted to his profession.I think that is a good purpose.

  • There are so many maybes my son. The only one who can answer you is the Creator of life if such creator exists & can communicate to you one way or another. The only answer that qualifies for that is in an ancient book that explicitly claims it is from & by the One & only Creator & it explicitly states the purpose of human life. So why dont you examine the claims of that book (The Quran) to know if they are true or not? Isnt that better than losing your way on the so many maybes out there?

  • Objectively nope, there is no purpose. Maybe one, survival.

  • The point of life is to die.

  • we must answer this qusetion first

  • and to be the best

  • the point of life is to live as long as you can and do as many things as you can

  • i agree brotha, purpose of life is a question that need know answer because we arent a real part of anything. its all like the if the tree falls and know one is around does it really fall....are planet plays no real function to the cosmos as a whole..

  • IF there is a purpose to life, then it is surely to feed and reproduce.

  • but why? whats the point if were going to die anyway? i mean really, why go to school and get an education? why get a job, or get married, or have kids? why spend your life working on a career when you know that one day itll crash down with death anyway? just...why?

  • If there isnt a purpose for life you might aswell well live life to the fullest by enjoying it while you still can if so get married have kids get a good education with a good job. i could say if there is a purpose for life but i dont know if there is or is not but i do know this dont waste your life wondering why

  • u keep hitting the individual idea, but i think that is more secondary to the direction of our lives. and if meaning is diff for evry 1, i still don't understand the bigger picture, and i don't see that as the answer. I'm still searching and love these knd of vids but I think I will never know and I'm starting to think that its not in the asking that I'll find an answer but I'll still keep asking anyway

  • I think you're right - I don't believe it's in the asking, either.

    =) Thanks for responding.

  • Pretty deep... I get a lot of what you're trying to say, but I also believe my personal resolve that the purpose of life is to have a reason to live. If you're life has a meaning... you might have found the reason of life.

  • I think you are absolutely right, 100%. Meaning is very personal and up to the individual to decide. There cannot be a single "purpose" for an entire being - otherwise I believe we would have a free will that is hindered.

    Thank you!

  • happiness

  • The meaning of life is subjective and personal. Which is basically what you said. I understand your religious tolerances as well, most people under religion are arrogant and hardly stick to their beliefs. I'm not going to say any names but most are hypocrites.

  • I like when people start to question the meaning of life. It's an interesting topic to discuss. Sometimes I think life is just an accident, but a very fortunate one, that the universe evolved to the way it is today to support the life we see. But, even if the universe is just an accident, I also think it's important to try to research and understand it. :)

  • Most definitely. I think the important thing is that people stay open-minded about our origins, even if they have had a "religious experience". To form your beliefs around an established system is nothing short of robbing yourself of your own destiny.

  • You seek wisdom and you shall certainly find it. Do not be distracted by the tinfoil of this present world. Seek truth with an honest heart just as you are now doing.

  • I can tell you what life is NOT about....it is not about getting stoned and thinking a bunch of drug induced thoughts.

  • ...A typical response from the closed-minded

  • Dude,in the late 60's & 70's I did Psilocybin shrooms, Peyote Buttons, Orange Sunshine, Purple Microdt, Khif, Hashish, you name it. I did Transcendental Meditation, Krishna Consciousness, etc. All I found was a spaced out existence and strung out on drugs. One day I became wise.

  • I hope I don't sound egotistical when I say I'm sorry YOU didn't find what you were looking for with meditation...looks like you had the wrong motives, what with centering your point around doing drugs, and not actual meditation.

  • That's EXACTLEY what I am trying to tell you. Drugs and true spiritual exploration do not mix. A couple of chemical explorations may be slightly enlightening but after you get the message , hang up the phone.

  • Today I engage in meditation and prayer but I do not need drugs to assist me. I regret doing all the drugs I did in my past because of residual memory problems I struggle with today (mainly from smoking pot).

  • I still see no connection between my video (above) and doing drugs...?

    Anyone? Anyone?

    Bueller?

  • You wrote "Would you believe me if I said I was high when I did this video?"

Another replied,"yeah actually i do . i do it all the time when i'm high .thinking of aliens ,space, end of the world,2012,and of course purpose of life but i do it with friends so we can wander of and make fantasystories of it so it looks cool ..or funny"

  • Please forgive me if I sounded judgemental. I just often wish someone had tried harder to steer me away from the drug scene sooner.

  • I wish you well in your search for meaning and applaud your effort. Some never question the purpose of life. Please post more as you walk upon your journey.

  • I appreciate this. Sometimes I do feel like I depend on weed to get out of my "ant" mentality. I guess I'm just lazy sometimes. I can't say that it never helped me see from different points of view, though.

    Thanks.

  • Love you brother!!

  • The purpose of the, is doing that which gives life a purpose... for you! and I just realised that i'm running out of chocolate biscuits...bye...

  • You are going to be ok. :)

  • nice!

  • u talk to much man.get high or something that's more usefull then telling what the purpose of life is if we have to decide it ourself no offense but..get high xD PEACE OUT

  • Would you believe me if I said I was high when I did this video?

  • yeah actually i do . i do it all the time when i'm high .thinking of aliens ,space, end of the world,2012,and of course purpose of life but i do it with friends so we can wander of and make fantasystories of it so it looks cool ..or funny

  • It's fun to theorize, isn't it?

  • i feel this. positive and negative energy are one complete wave, one complete reality.

  • Unfortunately no one can be told what the meaning of life is, they must experience it for themselves. The place where you must go to have this experience is on the Astral plain, and you must learn to project your consciousness to that level. It is there that you will be given the answers to any question you seek...

  • Just shut up adanfernandez. The message is as clear cut as you can get it, it doesn't require you to be a genius to get the concept.

  • positive and nevative energy ? what like my car battery lol... u are a moron

  • They are related, yes.

Why do you think I'M a moron because you're comparing a complex view of life and a car battery?

  • it was a joke....... just saying u or anybody on this planet... has no clue what the point of life is........

  • religion saved some people from thinking too hard and going craaaaaaaaazy.......they're coming to take me away aha....to the funny farm...

  • ALLAH says that He has not created jinn and man but ot worship HIM. Ask yourself where did the existance of H2O (water) com from, which is the basic element of all creation in the universe according to scientisit. Even energy, how did it come to exsistance from nothing. What people do is give you explanation and explain to themselves, but an explanation is not the truth. What you shoud do is contemplate with no misconception and prejudice in any form and you will find the truth

  • Wise words!

  • a wize sage told me the meaning of life: chicken soup.

  • The man who created a clock created it to tell time. The purpose of a pencil is to write. Why do people complicate life? A) God exist and created everything! B) Your created to worship him. C) If you don't you'll be depressed, which I'm sure you are. D) Doesn't he who created know best his creation!!! E) Religion is not control, if you're following the right ONE!

  • Myasana - that's so boring and lazy. How can that be all your life is worth, worshipping a fairy tale?

  • All organized religion has been created my men to control other men. God is free as the air you breathe. You don't need religious organizations to experience God. They just want your time, money, and resources.

  • Sounds fair. =) Because we couldn't call ourselves 'selves' if we did not center at least a *bit* of attention on our 'selves'.

  • please google the words "purpose of life khalid yasin" and listen to his 2 hour lecture about the "purpose of life"...it may change you

  • I hope I don't sound arrogant, or egotistical at all when I say this, but I doubt that anything can truly *change* me.. I will definitely google it though - I do like a lot of aspects of Buddhism - probably more than any other "religion" or "philosophy". I definitely do not consider myself a "Buddhist" or any other grouping of beliefs, though. Thank you for your comment!

  • I'm sure there are infinite ways of experiencing us all being one - the first thing that popped into my head when I read your question, though, was to respect others. Respect, honor and help others, even if it seems as though they do not respect, honor or want to help you. Sometimes the separation of ourselves comes from nothing more than disrespect.

  • nice thinking... nice fluidity... avoiding catching on words, or 'things' like religion...

do you do maths...? because if you are not being accurate with words, then you need something to demand accuracy...

the individual-collective relationship, subjectively, is a very interesting relationship...

regarding purpose... i think the answer is ahead... each of us... alone... and yet, if i am thinking this, and you are too, and as you say we are making our lives purposeful, then... 2020worldpeace :)

  • Thanks happyseaurchin.. =) Those words mean a lot. World Peace seems like a very good goal - but I am stuck on a psychological barrier on that... I believe balance is key to anything and everything. How can we balance world peace if there is no war?

  • we human beings have a great capacity to take issue with things and one another... this will continue for millennia... all i am suggesting, is that we bring around a sustainable global situation so we can all have the opportunity to consider such thoughts... that is, we may end up fighting amoungst ourselves, individually, just there are no social, industrial-fuelled, wars... again, the distinction is as you pointed out, between the individual and the collective...

  • To seemingly neutralize the point of turning an individual argument into a collective war makes me think that you must disable all central points of power, everywhere. I think that this might be a plausible way to do achieve world peace, but how can we all cope with such drastic changes of hierarchy and government? Wouldn't there be wars to fight because of it?

  • nice way of putting it... and i suspect the only way it could occur is through organic, experiencial growth... individuals in groups, in families amoungst friends, learning the meaning of power amoungst ourselves... i think this is the edge wrt social organisation, what the political theorists call horizontal power structures... its for us to generate it

  • These questions are better approached instinctively. Man's ancestors lived for millions of years without the ability to reason, depending mostly on instinct. We have only gained that skill very recently in our evolutionary process. You can drive yourself crazy trying to answer questions that are beyond man's ability to comprehend. You either have to subscribe to a belief system that answers these questions for you or let it go and feel the answer instead of thinking it. I prefer the latter

  • I agree and disagree with you, at the same time.

Feeling the answer instead of thinking it - yes. I love it.

Since we have 'gained' this knowledge recently through evolution, do you not think that by pushing the limits of our comprehension is the only way to truly attempt to, one day, understand? Or will we just, one day, figure it out on a whim?

  • ...I try to "be real": all I've got is some sensory input and a gewey thought muscle to work with. There may be no transcendent meaning in/for Life, but the purpose seems clear - "Be what your are. Be what you're like." If *I* were a solitary being that spontaneously came into existence (perhaps causing the disturbance which precipitated matter), I'd spend eternity trying to understand myself. I might even *think* other perspectives into being....

  • I completely agree with you! There is a unifying theme to all things, in all aspects. Energy is what makes us the universe, but the origins of that energy or even the reason it is there is beyond our comprehension. We are experiencing this life with single perspective, put into this dimension of thought with a single destination. Life is all part of a cycle. All things return, all things move on. The energy is perpetual (the pulse of life), driven by universal powers beyond our reach.

  • cool vid! ill make a responce shortly.

  • I also think that "we are one" is more true than our ego's can tell. The One energy of Consciousness, or awareness of the Universe must split into "individuals" in order to examine itself in every detail. Perhaps that is the nature of IT's omniscience. IT knows it's several parts through several collection points of experience...Us.

  • "...in order to examine itself in every detail". Thus the many different species of life here on Earth, with different senses, instincts, points of view, etc...not to mention other physical locations. I like it. We are part of the nature of a higher power..which is, in fact, ourself. Our collective consciousness *is* the "God" the many religions depict yet none can put a handle on.

  • Exactly! We find our selfs locked in a spiral of conscience awareness. All things experience, all things have energy and that energy is controlled by thought, emotion, and perspective among other things. We cannot comprehend the experience of, say, a tree- but we know it is instilled with the same energy as us, as everything. I think though, that we are located in the central location, where everything is manifested, where all of these collection points come togther. Our universe is the stage.

  • I love to see this kind of enlightened thought. I think the main difference in our thoughts on the matter is that I think that "purpose" and "meaning" are quite seperate ideas. Religion (you're right) is a tool for control.

  • I think so too...I try not to center much thought in the meaning or definition of words, although it seems necessary to convey a thought or emotion, even with the power of audio/video transport on Youtube. Religion as a whole is innocent in ideals, but corrupts as man seeks self gratification and recognition...

  • Amen.
