(You might say it down the pub with your mates, but you'd never say it on television.) Plus, his swearing is meant to be ludircous - no one swears like that, Alan is just a bit out of touch. Partridge is meant to be a bit of a dork, a clueless broadcaster who always gets it wrong - like in this clip, where he thinks the ball being kicked into the net after a goal is scored counts as another goal. Have a search round YT for The Day Today, a parody of news shows from wh this clip was taken, and maybe I'm Alan Partridge, that should help clear it up!
