is it useful to use guard mode with hastati, principes, or any legionaries? does it help when enemy general or warbands charge them?

@normandorp It helps for all infantry to face the cavalry and to be ready for them, so basically they should be standing still. Guard mode only prevents the infantry from pursuing routing units from the area they're guarding, and they'll also try to remain as much as possible on the ground they were told to guard. They won't move unless you tell them to. So it doesn't make any difference for cav charges, in my opinion. It is useful for sieges, though.

in a Rome vs Rome battle, I consider it fair game. Also, against any Eastern faction (PLUS Briton), they are very much fair game.

Also, my opponent had a lot more Urbans than myself.

Still, I've used inferior troops in these kinds of matches numerous occasions. I've used Pre-Marian troops against no-rule armies, and I've used Town Watch armies and other sorts of crap armies. I can get away with this, but it's very risky.

That could've been a very good movie, but being made-for-tv, it has a very noticable lack of budget. Those battles were embarassing.

ETW sucks anyway. I was seriously disappointed with it. Creative Assembly really screwed that game up, they never finished developing it. I think it was the most unfinished game I've ever seen released.

Many things. Unbalanced factions, multiplayer features(many), tons of bugs and crash issues, bad naval warfare, terrible AI, sieges don't work right. There is more then that to.

Even after 3 patches people are STILL crashing, they still haven't fully balanced the units and multiplayer lacks severely.

I got Rome total war gold for 15 or 20 dollars. Macedons I don't if you get to play as them. I thought I conquered them, but I may be wrong. You can only play as the barbarians you beat.
