  • biggest hoax ever in console history covered by the friendly nintendo press look gamefun magazine back then they show graphics that even ps2 cannot make after 4 years lol.

  • Now if only N64 games looked as good as an SGI Workstation in '95! :)

  • @DaisukeKigurou yeah, Americans are too dumb to understand a lizard chasing after people with meat on their face on a Japanese variety show.... "Dragon ball z" is also above our comprehension... Lol. USA invents most of what you use.

  • thumbs up if you have a n64 and you love it and think it is the best video game system ever with the best games

  • I also doubt you'd be able to read a Japanese novel (manga) and Japanese programing ( anime, variety shows, etc). You'd prolly not get the shit because, again you're an americunt and have little intelligence.

  • SHAME THAT WAS CGI.

  • it would take a gamecube to render this, still looks great though

  • @TheNinwii it was CGI! Created BUY Silicon Graphics inc demonstrating what the "Mother tech" of Ultra64 can do(N64) the N64 chipset was a less beastly adaption of this and they supplied it to nintendo. Silican graphics inc have many of the bestCGI effects in film WAY AHEAD of any competition at the time, with films like The Abbys, Terminator 2,and Jurasic park all made using their hardware such has The Onyx work station

  • Wow. Not only do I have no idea what I just watched, but I also got to read what is quite possibly the most retarded fight I have ever seen on the internet. Congratulations. You both suck!

  • @KiranaForever ok cool.

  • fucking nerds appreciate the video and quit arguing

  • @damonskates just by the way theultimatekoopa2 didnt have to reply to my comment, and if anybody is a nerd it's him, because i could give a fuck less about this video.

  • @bamasteve94 Read my comment again,i never stated that you said that n64 is bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @bamasteve94 You said "in your opinion" that the N64 had better graphics than the PS1, and he said, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. What's so hard to understand about that?

  • Comment removed

  • @bamasteve94 Fucking idiot. You said it was your opinion. He said it was a fact, then being the fucking moron you are, somehow got it in your head that he said you said something bad about the n64, and you said you didn't. He then says that he never said you did say anything bad, and to read the comment. You then tell him to read your comment, and you say that you said the n64 was better in graphics than the ps1. If you weren't so fucking retarded, you'd see that's exactly what he said. IDIOT!

  • Comment removed

  • @bamasteve94 "in my opinion the n64 had better graphics than the sony playstation 1 did" "Its not an opinion" "i never said anything bad" ",i never stated that you said that n64 is bad" "i said the n64 was better in graphics than the ps1" -- Where the fucking hell did anyone even remotely mention that you said something about the n64 being bad? Can't you fucking read you fucking illiterate prick? "I EVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT BAD GRAPHICS" .. NO! ONE! FUCKING! SAID! YOU! DID! YOU! PRICK!

  • Comment removed

  • @bamasteve94 Jesus fucking christ, you're a prick. I'm not the fucking retard who can't even read? NO ONE FUCKING SAID YOU SAID ANYTHING BAD! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? You said it was your opinion. And someone said it was actually true, that the N64 actually DID have better graphics. Somehow that means you said the N64 graphics were crap compared to the PS1 graphics? HOW THE FUCK IS THAT EVEN THE SAME? Read your comments and deividas56's, you'll see who's the fucking retard.

  • @bamasteve94 Also you motherfucking retarded cunt, WHERE THE FUCKING GOD DAMNED HELL DID I EVEN FUCKING MENTION POKE FUCKING MON? YOU FUCKING BLIND CUNT! GET A FUCKING BRAIN TRANSPLANT AND LEARN HOW TO FUCKING READ YOU RETARDED FUCKING CUNT!

  • @bamasteve94 So a fish and chip(chip=fries) eating Britt is less cool then a DOUGHNUT EATING,FRIED BREAD BUTTER DIPPIN, ALL U CAN EAT MEAT SALAD DODGER FAT HEART ATTACK BEGGER, AMERICAN? DUDE yall ARE British, unless you NATIVE American Cherokee/mowhawk/ect,or latino or Negro. Yal are British and to deny so is .like lookin at yo mum saying "YOU did not birth me WOMAN" now thats some retarded shit right there. basicaly im saying...we ALL SHIT,OUR SHIT STINKS AND STICKS TO ASS.Go study yo ancestry

  • @glennbuchanan29 well thats were your wrong... mainly my family's ancestry goes back to germany and ireland. i don't think i have any british ancestors and also i forgot to mention im 1/8 creek and choctaw native american. also you aint got to get so angry about my comment if you don't like it just say fuck it and move on, thats what i do.

  • @bamasteve94 tha point is if you argueing with a retard, what does that make u? you cant make remarks bout a whole nation based on yo limited interaction with 1 lil freak, and not expect some shit to make u realize the futility of the whole affair. Those were NOT my true sentiments about Americans(been fat) but America as recognised by the world IS a extention of BRITTAIN. The ruling elites fucked over the native with sweet charms and bullits in the back,as seen in Australia, their British too

  • @glennbuchanan29 im glad the US isnt a part of england anymore and the fish and chips thing was just a joke. hahahahaha.

  • @bamasteve94 why are you glad? you weren't even born at that time you don't know how its was like

  • 0:06 Is that Zelda?

  • @sonikku956 Yep. And Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi?, and other character that I can't see as fine as recognize them.

  • spettacolo!!!

  • war for territoryyyyyyyyyy!!

  • hahaha sure the games of N64 look like show the video xD no way !! haha silicon graphics??? xD hahhaaa

  • sepultura!

  • 0:17 DOES THAT LOOK FIMILIAR!?

  • @SNESosT

    Umm...Twin Towers?

  • @Etkar2008 i think it's world trade center.

    @SNESosT

  • @Etkar2008 This is from the late 90s.

  • @StarwindAmada20 Naw this video was probably around 1994 when N64 was still called Project Reality.

  • @StarwindAmada20 Yeah like Daraku said, this was only released in 1996, also notice where it says Coming 1995, which suggests this was 1994.

  • Sepultura playing at the end :)

  • Dammit I thought this was Project Reality on the N64.

    I nearly shat myself.

  • N64 was disappointing honestly back then I was expecting Gamecube or Wii standard graphics.

  • @Uberaoshi

wii is a PS2 in a white box TBH

  • @karambiatos Technically, no. It's double the power of the Gamecube which already surpassed the PS2.

  • @Vaquilla92 FUCK SONY those bastards succeed where NEC & Panasonic failed.

NEC consoles:PC engine/Turbo graphx16, Turbo CD,turbo duo, turbo express, PCFX

    Panasonic's 3DO

  • @Vaquilla92 The Wii is just a little bit less powerful then the original Xbox.

Game Cube and PS2 were pretty much equal in terms of power (PS2 had a slight edge because of it's GPU), but if history teaches us anything, since the PS2 used DVD's it could do far more practically then the Gamecube with it's Mini-dvd's could. So all in all, the PS2 was more capable.

  • @CyanProductions I have to disagree.

The Xbox's programmable shaders mean it has an edge over the Wii in terms of rendering things like normal mapping and per-pixel lighting, but the Wii has the advantage in pretty much every other area thanks to its larger and faster RAM, superior CPU, and twice-as-large L2 cache. Overall, Wii's stronger.

PS2's "raw" polygon count is higher than Gamecube's, but once you add multi-pass textures, visual effects, etc PS2 falls significantly behind the 'cube.

  • @Vaquilla92

The PS2 also has a higher Bandwidth and more Pixel Pipelines then the gamecube does. Which gives it a smaller chance of bottlenecking when trying to use it's power. If the PSP has taught us anything, it's that raw power doesn't make the system better you need to be able to access it.

I can't find all the specs for the Wii's GPU anywhere, send me a link please. I looked at their specs about a year ago. I do remember thinking the Xbox had more power though I will check again.

  • @CyanProductions

Sup, Out of that generation the PS2 isn't more powerful than the Cube or the XBOX as both of those benefited power wise by coming out later . the XBOX should theoretically be a smidge more powerful than the cube(some XBOX games are HD) but they're pretty equal otherwise.

The Wii smashes all of those with raw power(Except it can't do HD, but virtually nothing on the XBOX did anyway).

To an extent It's mostly how well the developers push the system.

  • @JJmoogle

None of the wii specifications have been officially revealed however the CPU is believed to be a 729mhz PowerPC 750.

The Original XBOX cpu is 733mhz however as we all know clockspeed isn't everything.

  • @JJmoogle That's right; Xbox's CPU was a Pentium, and it's well established that PowerPC cores performed about double the processing per clock cycle as a Pentium one for the types used in Xbox/Gamecube, meaning the Wii has twice the Xbox's CPU power.

  • @JJmoogle

I did manage to find the bus data on the Wii finally, but I can't find the specs on the Xbox at all. Besides the obvious Clockrate which helps nothing.

  • @CyanProductions The PS2's problem was that multipassing in order to create any kind of texture effect like gloss/diffuse/bump mapping absolutely killed it, you had to redraw for each pass, while Cube could do up to 8 passes in 1. A game like Rebel Strike with its abundant bumpmapping was beyond PS2's reach.

Wii GPU is basically the Gamecube one overclocked by 50%.

  • i kind miss these kinda graphics

  • Twin Towers!

  • ... Sepultendo?

  • So could they use the octane computer chip for the N64 or was it to big for the console? Because the octane is more powerfull than the onyx.

  • What a bunch of bullshit, the n64's graphics were nothing like that.

  • When developers produced Grapical Tech demos for new consoles the Tech demos always look better than the actual games. Was the same for Gamecube, PS2, X Box, PS3 and 360

  • Yup, it's the sad truth.

  • Those bastards.

  • lol the first bit was n64 then that second part was actually an advertisement for Silicon Graphics primary workstation! The ad shows where the n64 technology is based from.

  • The original Voodoo graphics card was MUCH more impressive then what we saw on the N64.

  • The biggest problem with the n64 wasn't the graphics or the power, but the storage medium they chose for the games, which was extremely limited to store textures, maps, and so on.

If the n64 would have used CDs, many games would have looked similarly to the video posted..

Anyway, we still got awesome games for it -

  • actually thats not true. The machine itself was not capable of doing anywhere near the amount of polys or texture size of even the PS1. Wouldnt matter if it had a dvd add on...the games would look the same.

The reason for this is the N64 did a lot of real time effects like antialiasing, specular, and mip mapping. So because of all those effects it was very limited to handle large ammounts of raw assets. (and also why certain games looked great on the system)

  • The N64 is has more power than the PS1. More RAM in it's HARD drive.

  • N64 didn't have a HARD drive. Think before you speak!

  • I didn't speak duh. I wrote to you.

  • think before you write then. Or at least do some research.

  • The letter Q.

  • @redfoxbennaton you sir.. are a retard..

  • @crskub Gee thanx mr.

  • what a load of bullshit

n64 was THREE TIMES stronger than ps1, its just that carts were too tight and expensive and it didn't have enough texture memory for all the advanced effects and high-res textures

  • n64 could do everything ps1 could and more, nintendo just screwed up on the design of the console

  • @nooblet911 if they screwed up, they it really couldn't do everything ps1 could and more now could it?

  • with cd support and better developing tools, it could do much more than ps1 could.

  • here is what nintendo should do before releasing the n64:

    - cds instead carts

    - more texture cache

    - add dma for the cpu

    - better programing tools

    - improve (or remove) z-buffer performance and lower (or replace) the access latency of the ram

would n64 had this, it would destroy the ps1

  • @nooblet911 Thank god the Ps1 games did that for them.

  • what do you mean?

  • @nooblet911 True, but if they had just had the n64 disk drive add on from the start instead of so late in its life span, and used the magnet disks instead of carts, then everything you said would have already been done by the n64, and have cool cartridge looking disks that are much sturdier then Cd's.

  • @nooblet911 dude, graphicaly,it did destroy the ps1,even without the 4mb add on. Has for the ram latency,Rambus (the ram supplier)if im not mistaken, was pretty much if not, the industry leader in terms of ram expertise/tech at the time, cd technology WOULD NOT have benifited N64 untill at least 4 years into its life cycle(audio reasons) and when realesed,N64WAS the most graphicaly powerful machine the standerd consumer could buy,pc tech took almost a year to catch and then surpas.Great machine

  • it was too hard to program for and had small texture cache and low media storage.

  • Sad fact.

  • Wow, those look almost realistic!

  • ha i saw the twin towers in the city, this was b4 they were destroyed

  • at 0:15 that's the ID for the WPIX movie from 1992 i think

  • The N64 has been the best videogame console ever, it had the best games of history, zelda ocarina of time, mario kart 64, super mario 64, kirby 64, starfox 64, goldeneye 007, donkey kong 64, bomberman 64, bomberman: the second attack, perfect dark, paper mario and many more. Too bad games aren´t that good now. :,(

  • Turok, quake, all those games are for kids.

  • so what?

n64 games *are* kiddy, but they're fun and pretty challanging

at least you dont have 25% of the library bieng FPS's

  • N64? Kiddy? Are you serious?

Sir, meet Conker. Conker, Flodder. And by any chance, did you see Doom 64, Resident Evil 2 or nightmare creatures?

N64 was for kids and hardcore blood lovers :D

  • i know,goldeneye07 kicks ass too!,turok ect.

  • Remember the old Rareware games sigh good times. ;(

  • good times inded

  • @HenryTouchdown Perfect dark is on the 360 now =D and it kicks ass

  • @HenryTouchdown Indeed. That's why I've bought a N64 the past year. And now I have 4 games. Proud for have the console and those games (Mario party 2, Wave race 64, Yoshi's story and Diddy kong Racing [the first 3 american and the last one japanese])

  • @HenryTouchdown all a matter of preference

while i didn't play most of those games you mentioned

zelda ocarina of times was the most booring game i had played

    seriously

  • @DrugMan24: Boring because your an americunt without taste and like generic americunt games with guns and shit. FPS's suck, all are the same no originality. I doubt you'd like original ideas, repetition is what americunt monkeys find "entertaining". BTW you're too stupid too to get certain concepts Japan hands out, only intellectuals with a brain can get what Japan hands out...

  • @DaisukeKigurou you are a funny guy, you see the problem with your whole statement is that i'm not american and i don't like generic fps well at least cod games which for some reason is very popular and to be honest it doesn't get any more generic than that and i don't blame people whu like those games it really is a game that screams casual just pick up and play just mindless shooting, i do play a litle bit of everything from metal slug to batlefield, your just blind in your stupidity

  • @DaisukeKigurou do you differentiate between 'americunts' and 'americans' ?

i'm a fucking american. i don't fit your shitty stereotypes.

  • @spinout182 you are a US boy, america is a continent not a country. gringo xD

  • @Backtoblack22 actually its called usa for united states of america and the continent is called north america or south america the countries name is shortened to america and wtf is a gringo?

  • @dragonxanimation in mexico "gringo" is all people who living on USA

  • @Backtoblack22 I'm proud to be a gringo

  • @Backtoblack22 you mean mexicans? LOL

  • @Backtoblack22 Wow 8 thumbs. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

  • @Backtoblack22 North and South America but I see what you mean.

  • @DaisukeKigurou/@DrugMan24.Both yall abit silly realy, arent U?JRPG's are the dictionary definition of REPETITIVE,but the deep storys, plot twist, character dev keeps it fun.FPS suck?running around shooting all the time REPETITVELY? Yeah but what about pefecting the twitch reflex to head shot perfection? Strategicaly planing the course of attack, keeping a watchfull eye on ammo? Fella's your both passing time, repetivly pressing buttons on theSAME PADregardless what u play.Me too, guess what?itsFUN

  • @HenryTouchdown Is funny how people just ignores majora's mask, which actually was one of the best n64 games..

  • you have a point there, but I think you overreact. look at the last generation n64 games. you will see they were much nicer than the first ones. a game like dk64 just would not work on a playstation

  • luls@wtc towers

  • lol n64 couldnt even produce any draw distance, without fog.

  • as playstation couldnt do without terrible pop up

  • No 32-Bit system stated that they would eliminate pop-up. That was Nintendo that promised that and failed to deliver.

  • this was to become sim city 64 later on which was released only in japan for the failed 64dd add on if I'm not mistaken. but looks a lot more impressive

  • where did you read this was supposed to be Sim City? This "town video" was released a few years prior to the n64 launch as a tech demo on PCs and only slightly changed for the supposedly N64 tech demonstration...and as much as i like the hardware, n64 could not even dream of those quality grafics. Then again N64 also could only dream of Ultra 64 arcade grafics seen in the Killer Instinct arcade game...a lot of promises Nintendo made and could not deliver.

  • well, I was thinking this was in some way connected to sim city 64 for the japan only 64dd. guess I was wrong

  • Looks great

  • Use the video slider. Then, slide the marker point to 0:05, and by that method, you can find Luigi, the only character distinguishable from the others.

  • By putting "fmt=18" at the end of the video address, you can also see Bowser, and Princess Peach, hiding below Luigi at 0:05, too.

  • twin towers..

  • from what i heard the secret that ati won't tell anyone is that wii is actually using an advanced version of this. believe it or not. thats how come factor 5 said they were able to get lair running on wii in 2 months.

  • and advanced version of an obsolete SGI workstation? Wow, that's some speculation.

  • for what ,m knowing the project reality was started in 1992/93,when nintendo was realized that it was not need to contineu on the cd rom addon project for the snes, will the super fx was weird in manny way,s.

so they had decided to move on to the 3d, 64bit machine, this to revange and to compeat against sony.

  • sony was actualy helping nintendo make the cd extension for the snes (this was before sony made the playstation) but sony and nintendo had a fight and sony left to make their own game console based off the cd rom drive, some 32bit machienes were 3D for example the playstation 1, and sony and nacmo wanted revenge on nintendo not the otherway around, thats why sony made the playstation, looks like the got it.

  • Very cool that was one of Sepulturas songs being played as background music.

  • what a load of horse shit! Who made this? Surely it wasn't Nintendo

  • Part Two: I believe Nintendo did right keeping it a cartridge based system, but many sound and graphics quality had to be lowered to fit on it (compared to CD's higher data storage). With this, the quality of areas never met CD based systems like the PlayStation/Saturn, etc. The N64 still had qualities, considered new at the time, before graphics PC cards, etc.

  • The N64 was a powerful system but it lacked in memory making the textures smaller, and more blurry when stretched. In a cartoon-like game (Mario 64) the graphics still looked cool, but for more realistic games, it proved to be difficult. Still a good machine, with many memorable games, but Nintendo learnt many mistakes with this system.

  • Actually, it had plenty of memory, for games of that time. The reason the textures in N64 games were blurry was because of the miniscule 4KB, and the systems' bilinear filtering made it even worse.

  • That was really what I was referring to, but I suppose I was being a little bit to simplistic.

    ;-)

Obviously its an issue, but as the cycle of N64 went on there was some techniques to improve the quality of games. Conkers Quest, etc. lol.

Also, an expansion pack was released to double the RAM (from 4mb to 8mb I think) but I think that was due to some games being originally designed for 64DD, but went back to cartridge. It helped improve resolution quality in number of games + other features.

  • Yes, I agree.

  • Looks like Nintendo forgot to watch this commercial.

  • The n64 never amounted to these early expectations but it was still a great system. I remember seeing screenshots in a magazine of a mario kart 64 from 1994 that was still entirely flat, a video must exist

  • That system's gonna be hot when it comes out!

  • It was cancelled

  • Apparently, so was your sense of humor.

    ZING

  • People laugh when stuff is FUNNY.

  • Cool.

  • That is badass! Moreso due to the song playing in the background (Sepultura's "Territory") \m/

Those graphics are great, especially for the time.

  • The actual Nintendo64 wasn't like that. The tech-demo was a pre-rendered video of what they expected with Silicon Graphics hardware. It's like the famous Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer for PS3. The real in-game graphics don't even come close to that gametrailer.

  • The stuff in this video isn't prerendered. They're SGI demos. The first clip is the Performer Town demo with some Nintendo characters placed on the streets. What Nintendo did was take an Onyx RealityEngine system, put it in a big black box to hide it, and claim that the N64 would have graphics like this. At the time an Onyx started at about $100,000, but I think a fully loaded RealityEngine system was above a half million dollars, couldn't match that in a game console!

  • well, the Performer Town demo is definitely realtime.

but I'm not so sure about the New York City sequence, it SEEMS pre-rendered. I think even an SGI Onyx RealityEngine2 would not be able to handle that realtime at 30fps, much less the 60fps it's moving at. in the NYC scene, there's too many polygons, it looks and moves too smoothly to be realtime. now, a few years later, an InfiniteReality system could do that realtime (maybe) but they didn't exist in 1994, they came out in 1996.

  • when I said NYC, I mean NYC and Paris. I looked again, yeah, no way was that realtime. those are Xbox / or at least GeForce 2/3 quality graphics, more or less, and beyond Dreamcast. the only way to do that in 1994 is with pre-rendering.

  • nice =)
