@melovefahrenheit Because words have context-- yes, "qing mei zhu ma" really means "childhood friend" or "friend I grew up with." However, MOST people use it, when discussing boys and girls, however, to mean/imply "childhood sweetheart." That is certainly the case for this song :)

There are lots of nuances of language that are necessarily "lost in translation"-- you don't want to include a novel each time you translate a phrase :)
