  • There is another Lister type engine like these made in India called a Field Marshall,a friend of mine has 2 of them,a single cylinder and a 2 cylinder used for Bio Diesel production

  • @eh4891 Are they good quality? - some Indian engines are hopeless...

  • wife says turn it off again?

  • @scott4fliss I say 'find a new wife' ;-))

  • wife says turn it off....music

  • @scott4fliss Some people don't have a good taste in music..! :-)

  • very nice video! nice engine.

  • @Zardoz5280 Thanks! :-)

  • Now research GEET - Global Environmental Energy Technology (fuel reformer / vortex heat exchange) and HHO - Hydrogen-on-Demand (water powered cars) and you will have a serious piece of kit!

    visit: geetinternational . com

    (remove the space)

  • @TheAlternativeFuel ...errr errmm I guess the 'fueless engine' is in there somewhere also..?

  • Yous havent a clue what a joke,Spark plugs on a cs lister.

  • @sylviaknockaduff1 Someone said if I'd ever had a problem with the spark plugs - then removed their comment when they realised how daft it was, by then I already left a reply ;-)

  • @sylviaknockaduff1 PS the carburetter has never given any trouble either, or the 12v electrics ;-))

  • In the 80's almost every farm along the Blue Nile in Sudan had one of these on a water pump to irrigate...

Slowly they replaced them with Hondas

    :-)))

  • @devilliers123 Do the Honda units last as long as these of sound as nice?? :)

  • hi there, what is the fan belt driven off?

  • @EngineEngineer There is a shaft in ball bearings down near the wheels that is driven by another belt that's just looped around one of the engine shafts behind one of the flywheels....

  • Comment removed

  • @envelope91 I've never had a problem with the spark plugs on any Lister CS engine! ;-))

  • Where did you purchase your lister from?

  • @byrdjp It came up on ebay

  • Still a great video, did you ever get your new shed built to house the Lister.

  • @farmerphil Nope, Baxi brought out a thing callet the Baxi ecogen combined heat and power boiler, so I went tor one of those instead

  • Those engines are genius. If I ever buy a house, I'm getting one for off grid power.

  • @gard751 Yes, do, they last for ever! ;-))

  • this is good ingine man beleave me in india every body use this ingine on water pump

  • Lovely isn't it :-)))

  • She runs like a clock :)

  • What does it do.

  • @Vaicurious It makes people very happy - oh and it drove the garden shredder

  • @ChuffChuffWoo great reply, makes people very happy, LOL

  • I HAVE ONE OF THESE THAT I NEED TO GET STARTED, ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP?

  • @CRAGSTUN Have you screwed in that knob at the back?

  • Looks & sounds beautiful! Congrats to this wonderful Engine!

Hint: do adapt a bit of mechanical load

(maybe a small 12V generator from a car and a lamp,

or a belt-drive ventilator or anything)

such engines do not like to run without any load.

I hope it gives You longtime a lot of fun!

  • @SH1974 Good point - a load would take up the 'slop' in the machinery... :)

  • Ain't she sweet! Gotta love that sound!

  • @gooseknack Yup : )

  • I could listen to that all day..

  • @crazyfvck Ditto!! : )

  • @crazyfvck So could I.....there's nothing else like it!

  • indian lister not so good. i had 2 engines 6 HP, and 16 HP not long work

  • Yes, very efficiently running engine

  • no smoke ? nice engine..

  • ...This sound would actually make a nice idle note for some sort of post-apocalyptic buggy.

  • Put this baby on a small platform and put it next to a nuke plant and you have natural disaster proof tank that can withstand even an EMP. To bad I don't design nuke plants we would never have had fukishima.

  • @mattpkp Yup! Better still, grow algae in the desert to power loads of these engines and get rid of atomic power alltogether :-))

  • internal combustion porn....

  • @dirtydogvideo I know what your saying

  • Way cool engine!!! Thanks for showing us!!!

  • Even better in fullscreen! A beauty, with sound to match. Many thanks for the upload.

  • i should record this audio...and use it for going to sleep!..lol..like listening to waves crashing on the beech!...lol

  • This is a jewel...I want one

Can the flywheels be removed for easier transportation?

  • @MusicMan20061210 The flywheels can come off, but you need to know what you are doing, they're a 'taper fit' get it wrong and the reinstalled flywheels will fall off the running engine and smash through everything in their path before running out of momentum :-o

  • This is a jewel...I want one

  • I can understand that this engine makes you happy!

It runs beautiful! Congrats from switzerland.

  • i guess these were outlawed in the states, much like everything else that is efficient, durable and long lasting. you can only get high rpm diesel generators which are complete junk.

  • @billysandals - while the orig. listers were reliable and efficient, as is the case, what I've read elsewhere is that they never met our (U.S.A.) strict EPA requirements...nothing more....nothing less..

  • @TheNorthWestPrepper for sure, its just sad really.

  • i would one day like to buy on old one of these but a 24/ 2 . just cast a ford to spend a lot on it

  • We are dealers of Lister engines and spares and have just set up a forum for users to share their experiences and find help with any problems they may have. Check out the forum on our website.

  • Purely Bristtish Engineered, What a Beautiful Engine..

  • G'day! Are you open to offers? Cheers!

  • Does ANYONE know wher these can be bought in the USA? Can you give me ANY leads at all? coldsteel2005@yahoo.com Thank you!

  • What a lovely sound! I happen to have a lister D type and a lister DK (petrol and paraffin) and thay both sound amazing aswell - it must be that continuos reassuring thump that stationary engines have that make them so wonderful.

  • my uncle have one like this for 40 years ago and still running great machine

  • nice

  • hi we had one of these engines runing a lighting generator till about 4 years ago a great engine for the job as we had no electricity in our old home i now have moved into a town house but anyway you have one of the greatest engine and a very nice runing one ok cheers

  • You have made that engine VERY HAPPY!

  • 5 * for me a great sound and a pleasure to watch.

  • Still sounds good, did you build your shed yet. Phil

  • Loveley engine. 10 minuits and 1 second of sheer happyness!

It's funny to think that these weigh about 180kg more than a formular one car!

I know which I would rather have being a lister owner myself!

  • Awesome engine,

Are the new listers the indian made ones, are they still owned by the orginal lister company?

  • Don't even think of selling this for any price. The copies most of which are made in India are POC/POS quality at best. Many are full of sand and aren't even machined. You get what looks ready to run only to find you have many hours of hard work first.

  • No I'm not selling! ;-))

  • @ChuffChuffWoo Actually I am selling now - I'll be putting it on ebay soon, but that's because I've got one on a car trailer which I'm keeping as its the easiest to move about. I hope it goes to a good home!

  • @ChuffChuffWoo How did the auction go then?

  • @OldHowlingHound

Well, the reports are theres cheap ones out there, and then theres companys that take the best of the stuff from India, rework them and then sell them and they've had good reports. Examples are replacing the cast gears with bronze gears then peening where the timing marks are- aparently peening the cast iron makes them brittle so they break.

  • @OldHowlingHound I think we found a country with worse standards than China. Those folks can't make metal or anything from metal to save their lives.... What a waste of raw materials, anything from India.....

  • very nice engine, looks very similar to lister cs, the only difference i can see is this one is radiator cooled. has it got a water pump?

  • Nope. UK made.

  • Is this an Indian Lister?

  • Lister-petter is still going, If they still have the casting blocks they could start making these under the lister name as they own the rights!(I think?) They could also make the lister d. Wouldn't that be great!

Nice engine you have there and a nice video!

  • Love it. Old technology is so much more fun to watch. Diesel locomotive -- nothing to look at... But a steam engine.... yeah... *drools*

  • shame Lister of Dursley isnt still makin em , itd be a few jobs for ppl

  • Sadly that's what happens when you crush industry with crippling taxes and red tape, the Dursley site is now a housing estate.

  • @ChuffChuffWoo did u get the set sold ?

  • @bonzo874 Yes it went to a good home :-))

  • @bonzo874 glad to hear it !!

  • I still like watching your engine, and my wife still thinks im nuts. Phil

  • Cheers Chum, am thinking about a shed for it, have bought an alternator to go on it. :))

  • A shed would be a nice setup, a powerhouse just for it. I am building a shed for one of my larger engines to run a line shaft and generator. Phil

  • This sound is hypnotic. Very cool! :)

  • Hi - no, the previous owner fitted it. I think it was.

  • very nice engine. good job. Is that radiator and fan factory fitted? if so is there any difference from ordinary CS with water tank? was the radiator and fan optional??

  • an scheena schlog guad

  • As someone from the victorian age would say....'This is the sound of industrial progress'

  • what a great engine!! could we see a start and stop of the engine? cheers

    Angamoos

  • Sweet! What is the fuel that you are using?

  • Nice sound. This old engine is great and simple like bicycle, and the better than some modern engines.

  • Happiness is working in a Lister CS factory! ;-))

  • Very Nice. Have watched this many times. My wife thinks I am nuts. Phil

  • They just don'tunderstand, this is sweet music!

  • Much happiness just listening and watching to it.:-)

  • That's why I took a nice long avi of it. Do some research on Lister engines, they're still made in India, so if you want one.....;-))

  • That engine sounds great!!!
