Just watched this movie for the first time tonight... Amazingly done. I was in awe the entire time. Cried a little bit, but for the majority I was just outrageously overwhelmed by how much this movie makes you feel. This movie knows true human emotion. And @larvinc , a "prettier lead actress?" Really? Tilda Swinton, to anyone who knows how amazing of an actress she is, knows she is absolutely perfect for this role. Anyone else wouldn't have done it justice. Besides, she's stunning.

@DaedalusReturned or you folks could click the expand button or visit the imdb page or visit the film's website...or you know, google that shit. i saw this trailer in the theater and i wasn't sure what the whole story was, but i could at least deduce that there was a romantic relationship involved that probably should not be happening and causes some sort of turmoil. the synopsis states as much. it' is less about cryptic trailers and more about people being lazy as far as i'm concerned.

If you call people sitting in a theater trying to understand this trailer lazy then you pretty much account for most Americans. But then again it wouldn't be the first time we've been called that. Effective film marketing has changed a lot over the years and most of the industry follows this evolving standard. This trailer apparently forgot the memo.

No shit, Sherlock. But the trailer fails at even that. There are more effective ways to create mystique to entice the user. Simply put, this is a trailer you'd rarely see in an American theater, if at all. Even the random observation of the guy below calls it a European trailer, lol. Sorry, call it arty or effective all you want, but this simply doesn't work for most American audiences.

By saying that you need to be handheld and shown every single plot point, twist and turn in a 2hr film by viewing the trailer, than what the hell would be the point of seeing the actual movie? Sorry but I found this film pretentious twaddle and talking to other people in the cinema I am not alone.

It's sumptuous yes but there is a barking mad soundtrack particularly at the end. Characters didn't develop and there are only so many meaningful pauses you can cram in one film. I cared not a jot for anyone in it and would someone mind explaining the the book significance because I think my eyes crossed at one point waiting for something to happen and I missed it!
