I've owned and own several Glocks, sticking with the G20C, but gotta tell ya, I've never had
the G36 and have been talking myself into the 36. I'm not a fan of the 45 ACP, prefer the 10mm, the the thin 36 would be so concealable, and fun to shoot. You did an awesome video, so much so that I've pretty much decided to jump in and ge tthe 36. Wow, Thanks.
Hey you up in NH? I enjoyed you being a regular shooter! I cut my targets out of 3/8" plate with a plasma cutter and hang them on planter stands too! You can put them anywhere and then they are so quick to take up and put away. I'm still deciding whether to get the 30sf or the 36.
@ZRizzz Yes, it looked that way to me and as a result of this video I have permanently changed my shooting grip and it has never happened again. This G36 is my #1 firearm and is 100% reliable.
@Glock23lovinit What a coincidence! I carry this G36 as my CCW and have been considering using my G23 RTF2 instead. The G36 is a relatively thin and quite comfortable IWB gun.
First of all, if you keep BOTH thumbs on the slide of the 36 or any other semi automatic, guess what...it will malfunction!!. Also, if you let some ballistal soak on the mags, then wipe them down, they will fall from their own weight. Also, you need to clean all Glocks right out of the box, good shooting though. Have put tons of rounds through my 36, no malfunctions that I didnt cause myself.
@weldon483 There is an issue with certain Glock followers that bind on the slide stop. Glock replaced nine of my .40 mag followers and the problem that I had with those was solved. Seems like the same situation with these. This was my first time shooting the brand new G36 and I have not ever inadvertently caused another one of these slide locks since this video was shot, nor has this gun malfunctioned in any way since then. This gun had been cleaned first but the Loctite C5A was not removed.
Very impressed with that review. In watching the video the slide locked most likely because of the way your thumb was riding the slide during firing. Anyhow that was great shooting. Keep up the good work
@rpm4rdm3 Thanks for the compliment. Yea, I have changed my grip as a result of this video. My thumb would occasionally activate the slide stop when doing our club competitions and I didn't know exactly why; it would really screw me up. Since changing my grip this has not happened with any of my guns and this wonderful G36 has been perfect for me.
hey really nice review a 36 is in my sights forsure....carryclip? whats that?
on your steel plates..did you make them? how thick? they look perfect and not to bad to make? the 'stakes' are they just curved rebar? thanks and again great review.
@mattroyster1 Arntzen 3/8" AR500 heat treated steel plates, the four plates cost just under $200 with shipping; worth every penny. I'd rather have new steel than a new gun, now. These make competition with friends using a shot timer many times more fun than dodging ricochets off of dangerous mild steel or, heaven forbid, shooting boring paper. They have a really nice ring to them, too. Target hangers are former plant hangers, a few of them are welded up with flat steel to keep them from bending.
@Dizzarchangel No problems, it was how I was holding the gun and I have since revamped my grip (again!). This gun is completely reliable and rest assured that I will report here on this video with an on screen annotation if I have any problems with it. I wish that I had worked with this gun for a while before shooting a video like this, these were the first 200 rounds ever fired from this gun outside the factory and the two slide locks were completely caused by my method of handling.
I've only put about 350 rds thru my G36, but it has never failed in any manner.
I have used Rem 185 gr JHP +p and 230 gr standard ball.
I put the "carryclip" on it and it disappears under a Tshirt and is very comfortable considering you're carrying a .45 (I just can't sit down with it up front, I have to move it to the side).
@dgl1962 That sounds like a pretty cool set-up. Amazing that a person can have a full-power .45 ACP at their discreet disposal when lightly dressed for warm weather.
Awesome video. I have both the 36 and the Benelli Tactical and they both rock. I have shot thousands of rounds through my 36 and only had two stove pipes in all that time. I was using cheap re-manufactured ammo when the stove pipes occured. I have shot almost every brand of ammo I can think of including filthy Wolf steel cased ammo. I have 6 Glocks in 9mm, .40 and 45 and the 36 holds a slight edge over all of them. I carry my 36 almost every day. I absolutely love it! Nice shooting by the way!
@Roberthurz Very nice of you to stop by, thank you. A little research before I bought mine indicated that the 36 might be sprung more for the really hard hitting premium self defense ammo so it sort of make sense that it could short cycle with practice ammo once or twice in a few thousand rounds. After taking a look at a few of your videos on your channel I had to subscribe. That is some beautiful land you shoot on.
Yep! Just created 90 more empty .45ACP casings in a flawless and fun manner.... I might add.
Meant to say, when you got people like tnoutdoors9 responding to your video, you know you did a good job. Now, all you need is Hickok45 and you'll KNOW you've arrived!!! See what he can do with the only slimline incredible Glock!!!
Very nice shooting from a very nice gun! I fell in love with my G36 too...what a unique and awesome Glock. My primary carry gun with Glock night sights...got 200 flawless rounds, gonna go put 50 through tomorrow. Great video! Keep up the good work.
@rogermcgee1 Great! Glad to hear the G36 is working so well for you, as well. The night sights sounds like the perfect touch for your personal carry piece. Have fun making empty brass with that beauty.
6:09 WTH how close was that camera to the target? I thought I was bad about sacrificing my camera to the range gods, LOL! Very nice shooting, you are beast with that G36.
The camera I have is no where near as nice as yours. When I ,someday, convert to HD video that should put an end to the risky camera scenes.. This camera still works with the remote control but was previously hit by a bullet in the touch-screen during production of my Browning BL-22 video. Still, I don't want to shoot my Nady remote microphone receiver that is mounted to it. To answer your question the Handycam was just inches from that plate - playing peek-a-boo!
@1AbominAble1 You have a ton of videos so you definitely know how much set up goes into all of this, especially when doing it solo using a tripod. Thanks for the support, makes it worthwhile.
This is a great video. You're making me miss my G36 I bought when they came out. I might have to give it another look. Brave stuff with the camera placement there; next thing you know, you'll be shooting through your car windows! Excuse me, I live in Tennessee; it's car "winders." :-)
Yea, wonder who's influence made me want to shoot a new gun inches away from my camera and Nady remote microphone receiver??? You see my truck sitting there, doors open, all lined up for a shoot through but somebody on YouTube already has the copyright to that stunt!
is it legal to have your own range in your backyard?

@sampleivan1970 Glad to hear that! Nothing is as exciting as bringing home a new gun that we've researched and finally decided to buy.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine; a constant companion every day of the week.

what often happens is shooter that are new to this size on the blocks tend to push on the slide lock.

Did you determine if your thumb hit the slide lock? It looked to me like the recoil pushed your thumb up into the slide lock.
