A lot of people tend to forget that if the Giants had won the WHL Championship, Medicine Hat would have been in the tournament anyway. As long as Vancouver made it to the Final, the Eastern Conference team was automatically going to the Memorial Cup. Same thing happened in 06. Moncton (hosts) won the QMJHL Final, but Quebec (Q Runners Up) ended up beating Moncton in the Memorial cup final.
What's stupid is a team like Ottawa winning the Cup in 99, after being knocked out in the first round.
It's stupid that your not league champions but then your memorial cup champions! I don't like the idea of the host team. There should just be a WHL champion, A OHL, champion, and a QMJHL champion.
As a bruins fan i sure hope i get to visit and see a ton of games!!! If i was not a bruins fan. it's all about the Canucks! Can't wait to visit that city!
It was so loud there! What a great game and I got to see it from the 2nd row! Unbelievable. Now only if the Canucks could win the cup. This city would erupt.
I`ll never forget being there for that game, it was a madhouse!! It was so freaking cool watching the mighty (not)Medicine Hat Tigers get SCHOOLED in the art of defence!!!!!
I thiwas there and I can sayu that the Giannts fans are one of the noisiest in the CHL. I was actually volunteering for the CHL Tournement and mett Gordie Howe and got his autograph. he is so cool
oh than god, the crowd stopped us from hearing that annoying ass announcer yell... SCOOOOAARREE! He sounds like he's relieving himself in the middle of his call
Whoever held the mem cup in thier rink was gonna win it. The teams fed off so much from their fans. Tigers won the 7 game battle, Giants won the 1 game battle. Was a perfect year for the giants to hold it. Imagine if they wern't the host.
its funny cause the game before this they were vsing some other team and they scored about 8 or 9 i forgot it was pretty sad for the other team though hahahaha
It is just too bad that Vancouver fans could not have been better fans. One gets tossed from game 7 for being drunk, and assulting a police officer. And then when you go to a game in Vancouver you have them push, swear, and talk rudely to you. And now on here. I guess if you want bad fans goto Vancouver or Moose Jaw!
I also want to especially congratulate the underrated players from Vancouver that played incredible: J.D Watt, Lance Bouma and James Wright :D Also Ivander Kane, 15 years old and played like a pro when he had the chance.
Congratulations to both these teams of course. This was the final I've always dreamed of, I love these teams, I was rooting for Vancouver, I've loved them since they joined the WHL. Sexsmith and Keetley played INCREDIBLE on both sides of the ice. Everybody's gonna remember the year these two had against eachother, from the Fog Delays in Medicine Hat in Game 7, to Repik's wrap-around for the Memorial Cup.
The only reason that they hoisted the cup was thanks to Rehman as a ref. If you look every game that he reffed for the Giants they won!!! If he was not reffing then they got called for penalties they deserved.
you're an idiot. the giants were the # 1 ranked team in the chl most of the season. they played the perfect game in the final and deserved the win you doush!!!!!!
As for Rehman...guess you missed the game that he put the Giants down by 2 men twice in one game for well over a minute. Look back to the 2005/06 playoffs. The only games they lost was when Rehman was the ref.
Tigers lost, Dorsett is gay, regroup and get ready for a losing season now that Keetley is gone. Tigers were never a team. It was Keetley playing his ass off and a bunch of plumbers that a Midget rep team could replace.
Medicine Hat had already beaten Vancouver in the WHL Finals, and then again in the final game of the round robin. It's too bad it came to this, but then it's too bad that Medicine Hat played such a shitty game, too. I guess that 8-1 win against Plymouth gave Vancouver the momentum that they needed coming into it.
Every team that makes it far enough into the playoffs runs into a hot goalie at some point. You don't lose a best-of-7 series just because the other team's goalie was too good. I watched Medicine Hat beat them 3 games in a row, and most of the reason was that the Giants pissed on their own feet by taking penalties.
Must be a Tigers fan... It really could of gone either way during the WHL finals. Both teams were good, Giants even outshot the Tigers every game, but Keetley was very good. The Giants deserved to win this one, they totally outplayed the Tigers and other teams, even in the game they lost to the Tigers, was a close one 1-0. Giants overall played better.
They weren't outshot by more than 4 or 5 in any of the games they won. And I've already said they deserved to lose for the way they played in the final game.
Congrats to the Giants, though. I wasn't sad to see them win it, except that I would've rather had it go to the Tigers.
They shud make the Giants the new NHL team here cuz the Nucks choke

4 teams play in Memorial Cup: Host team, WHL Champ, OHL Champ, and QMJHL Champ. This year Medicine Hat won OHL and Vancouver hosted.

keetley is the only reason this game was even close
the giants dominated puck possesion and territorial play
throughout the game , the tigers rallied a bit after they scored, but not enough
the right team hoisted the Cup
and the 11 giants who went to moncton last year will tell ya, the Memorial Cup banner is a lot more important than the WHL version

Actually if you watched those games you would have noticed Medicin Hat got there asses handed to them and rode their goalie. GTFO out of Vancouver.
