Why did Dion try to form a coalition? it is because Harper LIED about our budget, claiming there would be a surplus over the next few years... after threat of coalition the truth came out. trying to ban public support for parties is horrible and it was the job of our parliament to stand against Harpers claims
Hey look another person blames Stephen Harper for a global recession! I didn't know we were such an economic powerhouse to cause a GLOBAL recession! Economists across the board blame Stephen Harper? I must ask what your sources are for such an outrageous comment! How would the Coalition help the economy? by funding social programs that bleed us of tax dollars for years?
In fact I am a historically Liberal supporter who is angry that we are forming a coalition with this economically destructive party.
You also look about 19, so that makes you a liberal supporter for ... 1 year? Ageism aside if you could form a better argument than the coalition is poor with the economy. Look at the guy in power and say that he isn,t he has led us into recession and economists across the board are blaming Stephen Harper's policies of taxcuts for it.
Look up the coalition. The Bloc actually have they're hands tied by the Coalition but you'd know that already being omnipotent harper humpers.
It states the bloc has to support whatever motions the coalition puts forward (until 2011) and they are not in any sort of way able to dictate policy or use power. They are just they're to add another few seats.
Read the damn agreement you propaganda botters because until you actually read something instead of spewing lies you are just a comment bot.
Ignore the majority of the masses on youtube. Likely high school students with an insane Harper=Bush vendetta, or University students who buy into the left-wing ideals their professors propagate. :P
I see... the quote of Dion was biased???? You, being so much smarter, know that any comment on Dion is automatically biased and makes me a biased Conservative. In fact I am a historically Liberal supporter who is angry that we are forming a coalition with this economically destructive party.
I voted for the NDP, and i dont like that the liberals would not allow NDP any cabinet seat that deals with economic issues, i dont like the fact that the coalition would not rescind the corporate tax cuts, so if you are worried that the coalition would not be continuing it's corporate welfare, than don't worry.
People like me, who want a better condition for the working poor, will not be allowed a voice in the coalition.
The major difference between the NDP and Liberals were whether to fund needed spending by retaining corporate tax revenues (NDP) or reducing other programme spending (Liberals). The Liberals signed the deal because the corporate tax cuts were part of it, taking the concern that M. Dion expressed during the election off the table.
The Bloc agreed to put sovereignty issues on the back burner for the duration of the agreement. That would be a step forward for Canadian unity.
if, on dion's part, it was a power grab, then i would wonder why he has decided to step down. i wll not argue that the very real nature of politics is power, and certainly this does have a play in it, yet i am wondering, has anyone thought about what the ndp will gain how about this! jack as deputy PM in a Liberal- Democratic party! we shall see
Well kid, I'm not going to go on a rant about how great the coalition is and how terrible Harper is, unlike all the comments below me. Here is the answer to your query. The opposition is ONLY forming a coalition because Harper wanted to cut funding to political parties. This would have destroyed the opposition parties, and really been a kick in the teeth to democracy. I think it is unfair to blame all economic decline on Harper, though, considering all countries are in economic recession.
hey there smart guy. In the agreement signed with the Libs and NDP it specifically states that the NDP have no input or decisions making power on economic issues. you should do a little research before you start posting videos
Look at the facts of how harpers budget would've eroded womans rights, civil workers ability to strike until 2011 and the funding of 1.95$ per vote to the political parties (which the conservatives dont need being the richest party [CORPORATE HANDOUTS FTW.])
Everyone who is commenting in favour of the coalition is either a conservative volunteer a bot or a really really ignorant individual.
We voted and 62% of us dont want harper. Support the 62% majority @ 62percentmajoritydotcom
1. Corporate donations are illegal. 61% of Canadians support the cuts to subsidies, 31% do not.
2. It would not erode women's rights - it's proposing a restructuring of the current system which is being exploited (grievances are being paid twice) and making it EASIER for women to demand equal pay.
3. 'Bout damn time the Unions were not allowed to strike - check out the unionized auto industry failing because of wages and benefits being paid. They're not making concessions.
I see no problem the 163 Democratic members of the coalition were all elected democratically, the people voted for them, the people have elected a majority in opposition, population, I repeat, has not elected a prime minister, but a member!
the coalition includes only the NDP and Liberals! The block will have a say only that concern Quebecers, the nasty separatists not decide anything in the other provinces consernent Anglophone same if the provinces Anglophones are always with the minority in Quebec! Think twice before spitting on people, you say that about 45% of Quebecers who like the CANADA ... not on me, but I can still respect you!
if you are the least intelligent, you calculate that the Bloc Quebecois gets 66% of votes in Quebec or 49 member only in Quebec, the Liberals get 77 member across Canada, the NDP get 37 Members across Canada for Canadians who do not see the legitimacy of the Bloc Quebecois, look at the figures the Bloc Quebecois MP elected over the NDP.
the British parliamentary system of CANADA does not like the American system! people vote for a member, people do not vote for the leader of a party, the political party member who votes for the best leader, the best leader of a political party becomes prime minister only if they get enough Members elected, the Conservatives are a minority because they have 143 member!
I can't believe the Liberals - who only received 26% of the vote in an election just a few weeks ago - are trying to bring down the government. There have already been 3 elections in the last 4 years.
The Liberals and NDP have been fighting Harper in every plan he put forward. When did the Liberals ever give a damm about Aboriginal people ? Never. Never. All the Jean Chretien years the Liberals did nothing to help the Aboriginal people of Canada.
Now the Liberals are trying to accuse Harper of not helping the Aboriginal People ?? The Liberals and NDP are a joke. They are good at bitching and complaining, but they never do anything to help Canada.

The Conservative plan is to "ban criminals". Liberals don't seem to comprehend that ..?
I dont either, how do you "ban criminals". Sounds like you'll need some sort of thought police to be anywhere succesful with that.
Does marijuana count as a crime? Under the conservatives it is viewed as one so am I banned to?
I prefer the sane version of politics, NDP & LIBERAL COALITION FOR THE WIN.
Fuck you Adolf Harper, you have alot of shills here commenting but im not one of them.

No. The BQ will be consulted on EVERY bill being proposed. That is their incentive for being part of the coalition.

As part of the coalition, the NDP has agreed to not pursue the policies to which Dion was referring. Perhaps you should pay attention.

-settling claims with the Aboriginal People

Stephen Harper is trying to get a plan going to cut down crime in Canada. The Liberals are saying "ban hand guns" Duhhhhh ???
The criminals have the hand guns, and they are not going to be freely giving them up. Why would they ?
The Conservative plan is to "ban criminals". Liberals don't seem to comprehend that ..? So all they do is bitch and complain, about Harper.
