  • i live in louisiana and do a good bit of fishing from lake pontchartrain...most of my fishing is done from a pier o a dock...around this area we usually get alot of speckled trout redfish black drum etc....i'm hoping to maybe target redfish and black drum using an 8 foot spinning rod spooled with 20 lb test with a 2 ounce egg sinker with 1 to 2 foot 40 lb mono leader or a 12 inch 60 lb wire leader with a 5/0 circle hook is there any advice u can give me or anything i need to change w/ my set up?

  • @MegaRamos19

Why are you thinking about using the wire leader? They may eat it but not as well as the mono. Other than that I think you should be able to do well with that set up.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • dude that is clearly a drum......redfish have a gold/copper color when u pull em out the water..plus the body too reds have a slimmer body style

  • These fish are all over the shallows by Burntstore Marina usuall early AM, tons and tons of mullet and wh. bait on the beach for bait too. Docks at the marina can find nice snappers, sheeps and ladyfish.....

  • i fish by burnt store marina a few times a week and have never seen any

  • Almost everytime ive walk out in the flats in the early morning, just infront of the pink condos, near the mangroves there are all kinds of frenzy's of fish splashing and jumping around. Ive seen the fins sticking up in huge numbers more than a couple times. I usually go out there and get bait, usually finger mullets and white bait and fish off the last dock at the very end of the marina. Can usually get a few nice snappers & baby snook and even cought a small grouper.

  • I live in naples and i went there last week and caught a 30 pounder it was fun catching these things.

  • a question?

    who armed de line.

Because I dont see the plumb line

  • Instead of catch and release. You can start a nonprofit charity. I've seen your catches. You could feed 50-100 people once a week. (Friday). And get city, state, gov. and private funding to support your overhead.

  • I'm not a fan of catch and release. Why don't you take your efforts to a homeless shelter and feed people.? And have your fun.

  • wow it would be cool if you went to a fresh water lake, and went after huge Muskies it would be awesome to see you go against some giant fresh water fish including sturgeon

  • I would like to one day.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • today i had a good day i got a 3 and a half foot dog shark and so did my grandpa but his was smaller, it took a lot of energy and was hard but i was in disbelief i caught a shark haha
