That's true. There are a lot of different categories of shoegaze. I've even heard of NewGaze. haha. Either way, I have yet to find a "shoegaze" band that I didn't like.

if i remember correctly it was actually a derisive comment made about the original bands of the genres tendency to be looking down while playing. either out of lack of ability with the instruments (and the assistance of plenty of effects to help hide that ) or some portrayal of disinterest with the show in general.i would guess it would have been NME or Melody Maker that coined the term as they were always quite nasty about such things.
