Stop hating on single speeds. I ride a fixed gear and it is my favorite bike to ride but I also ride other bikes too. A bike is a bike and you all should not make your judgements based on another persons bike. Fixed gears aren't everything..
I was an SF, DC and RIC courier 1994-2004, 35 and fat now and thinking about getting back on the saddle. Correct that, not thinking, DREAMING, and either NZ or AUS is the money shot right there. @MsInformed01 Looks like your name is correct. You have been miss-informed! There are some single speed or fixed gear bikes that do not require you pedal all the time. If you look the bike has a brake leaver which most likely means that she has a rear brake, this most likely means that she has a bottom bracket which allows backward movement. I go mountain biking with people who ride single speeds and they dont have to pedal all the time!

Single speed means there are no other gears to change but you don't have to pedal all the time and can coast which she does in the video at 1:28. A fixed gear means that it is FIXED so you have to pedal all the time which also allows you to pedal backward. Most fixed gears will only have a front brake because whats the point of having a rear brake if you can control the rear wheel with your legs?
Fixed gear bikes always require you to pedal, that's pretty much what makes one a fixed gear. The gear in the back is "fixed", allowing no movement in relation to the wheel.
Single speed bikes are not the same, they have a freewheel in the back like most regular bikes.
The brake lever is to facilitate braking, otherwise only done by forcing on the pedal backwards on a fixed gear bike
@VoltBikes Many cyclists, if not all, love their bicycles dearly. Dearly enough to reject a new bike, like myself. I personally bought a new bike, but rode my parent's old bike and I feel a connection with the old bike more-so the new. Stupid as it may sound, there is an attachment.
