i did this and my hair is layered and medium length... it looks soo good :] i use curling mousse and curling gel because my hair goes flat and that helps keep the volume. (hairspray helps too :)

I have naturally curly hair and this trick does work...however, the curls are tight since the hair is prone to curls so it looks less wavy and much more curly...but I like it as it makes the curls more uniform and smooth....it creates a more polished naturally curly look for those of us with naturally curly hair....definitely try it!

Like not just it being damp and then you could just follow her directions but i think that as long as it is a little bit more wet it should work fine

You mentioned how you don't really know if you can do this with short hair. I have jaw length hair and I go to bed with clean, shampooed, and conditioned, wet hair. I don't put anything in it and put on a hood and I wake up with wavy hair. You can touch it up with a comb and some water if it doesn't work ;D

you should have worn something lighter rather than black.. i was struggling to decipher your curls.. the black background overshadowed everything. great technique though! i have natural soft curls.. bt i use both flexi rods and foam curls alternatively. i dun use any chemicals bt simple semi-wet hair.
